It Was A Good Speech….But…..

Last nite the Pres addressed Congress and the people on his vision for health care….all in all a very good speech…he even showed a little of the passion he had on the stump…he even drew a small line in the political sand….but….

What did he, Obama, have to say?

Most of the speech was given over to reassuring those who already have health-care insurance – about 85 percent of the population – that they would lose nothing by reform and would gain “stability and security” because insurers could no longer deny coverage for preexisting conditions, or jack up rates when a policyholder falls ill.

Obama took special pains to reassure senior citizens that Medicare cuts would not be used to finance the changes he is seeking – “not a dollar.” Polls have shown opposition to reform strongest among those over 65 years of age, and they are the most reliable voters, particularly in nonpresidential elections.

The president even suggested that reform of malpractice laws should be included in the discussion. Republicans have always wanted to address what they consider the costly burden of lawsuits, but Democrats usually shy away from the subject because trial lawyers are major party fund-raisers.

But…he covered the BS about killing granma….he talked about the illegals…..he covered the pre-existing thing……he touched on the high price of being ill….he did an excellent job of waffling, IMO.   I know why do I say such a thing?

He talked about the public option…..but…..he said it was only a part of the plan….he said that he would welcome an exchange of insurance companies and that in 4 years a public option would kick in.

My concern is that in 4 years if he does not win re-election, will the reforms be beaten back as so many reforms in the past have?  I think that Progressives will not be swayed by this speech, that is if they are TRUE progressives.

This is not the plan that was taunted during the campaigns…this is , as I have said in the past in posts, a tweak of the health system, not a reform.

It was a good speech….but…..it was marredby some Southern moron who yelled out “You lie”….might know it would be a white guy from the South, South Carolina to be exact, that would show NO respect to a Black President.  And they, whoever the hell they are, say that racism is all but dead…..but………
