Walker: The Gig Is Up!

I read the news today, oh boy (Beatles reference)….about a man who would be king (movie reference)……Gone baby gone…..is Scott Walker from the 2016 election……

And then there were 15: Three Republican sources tell the New York Times that Scott Walker will become the second GOP presidential contender to drop out of the 2016 race. The Wisconsin governor is expected to announce his decision at a 6pm Eastern time news conference. “The short answer is money,” says one source. “He’s made a decision not to limp into Iowa.” Though Walker was atop the polls early in the year, the most recent CNN poll found him with less than a half of a percentage point of support from Republican primary voters.

Not bad from a guy that never lost an election…..in all honesty he did not lose this one…..he cut and ran!

First Perry…now Walker….will the failures mount up?

But Walker?  He had such a promising future 6 months ago….what could have possibly happened?

Scott Walker is out of the GOP race after a campaign that peaked well before it officially began: He led the polls in Iowa for much of the year but he has dropped out of the race after just 71 days, which ABC reports is one of the shortest modern presidential campaigns on record. Where did it all go wrong for the Wisconsin governor? Insiders tell Politico that Walker was overconfident and though he tried to act as his own campaign manager, he seemed to be “making it up as he went along,” causing plenty of strategic blunders. Fundraising dried up as Donald Trump’s rise pushed him to the sidelines, leaving him with a large organization but little support. His sudden departure from the race came after he failed to make an impression at the second debate and a CNN poll found his support at well below 1%. “He was a terrible candidate but he also got Trump-ed,” a source tells Politico. More:

  • Sources tell CNN that although a Super PAC supporting him had plenty of cash, Walker’s campaign funds started to dry up after the first debate as donors looked elsewhere. Walker “is a pragmatist above all else and just didn’t see the path to a comeback” after his poll numbers collapsed even in Iowa, a campaign insider says.
  • Walker was hurt by flip-flops on issues like birthright citizenship, where he changed his position three times in a week, CNN notes, and by gaffes like suggesting he would consider building a wall along the Canadian border.
  • In his exit speech last night, Walker said he had been “called to lead by helping to clear the field in this race so that a positive conservative message can rise to the top of the field.” He urged other candidates to follow his lead so a clear alternative to Trump could emerge, the Washington Post reports.
  • Some of Walker’s former rivals praised him as he left the race, including Marco Rubio, who called him “one of the best governors in the country,” and Donald Trump, who said “he’s a very nice person and has a great future,” reports the Hill.
  • The rival campaigns didn’t wait until Walker announced his exit to start trying to poach his aides and his donors, the AP reports. The competition heated up after the announcement: A source close to the billionaire Ricketts family, which had supported Walker, tells the AP that within minutes of the governor’s press conference, the family received calls from six campaigns, some of them from the candidates themselves.

2016: The Foreign Policy Election

I know…..I know…..I harp on this subject a lot…..but look at the record…..the US will be engaging in war from now until the rapture (if you believe that sort of nonsense)……so foreign policy is as important as any of the other issues that few want to speak of…….

The media has coined this upcoming election of 2016 as the “foreign policy” election….simply because the world stage is where so many decisions will be made by the next president.

I will attempt to show my readers why some of the candidates are NOT presidential material………there will be more posts along this line as I find more information about the candidates and their international policies………

This one is about Scott Walker, the governor of Wisconsin.  Some say that he is a good bet in the primaries basically because of his handling of the state of Wisconsin…..but I want to look deeper into his ideas of international situations…….

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker cited a man in the crowd named Kevin Hermening as a formative influence on his foreign policy thinking. Hermening, a former U.S. Marine who was held hostage during the 1979 Iranian revolution, is a longtime friend of Walker, and has been described in press reports as “the face of Walker’s foreign policy.” The governor has repeatedly cited Hermening as a major influence on his worldview, including his opposition to the Obama administration’s recent nuclear deal with Iran.

Walker’s choice of Hermening as a foreign policy counselor raises serious questions about Walker’s understanding of the issues. Hermening has publicly advocated conducting nuclear strikes against the capital cities of Muslim-majority countries, as well as the mass deportation of undocumented immigrants, particularly those of “Middle Eastern descent” from the United States.

In 2001, Hermening wrote an op-ed in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel calling for a response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks that would include “the destruction of the capitals of Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Sudan and Yemen,” unless the governments of those countries unequivocally agreed to help kill Osama bin Laden. “Every military response must be considered, including the use of nuclear weapons,” he wrote. In his commentary Hermening also called upon the United States to erect security fences “along the entire perimeter of the United States,” as well as deport “every illegal alien and immigrant, with a focus on removing those of Middle Eastern descent.”

That alone should disqualify this person……..the American president has to deal with a wide array of situations that will pop up around the globe and thisd type of thinking will do NOTHING to make the planet a safer place…..which by the way is the duty of a president….although few have done so in the last 100 years.

Then there is much said (especially by me) the candidate with the most to say…….Lindsey Graham……..of course rhetoric is just slogans of red meat for the idiots on the Right….he seems to think that the US would win the war……..but here is a thought, a historic thought,  for him

Hawkish pols have a tendency to harken back to the late 1930s exclusively, but one need only look to the eve of World War I (to the Czar in Russia and the German Kaiser, say) to see that two countries can and do fight wars that both end up losing.

A war between US and Iran will have NO winner and it will not prevent the development of a nuke by Iran…….

Then there is the idiot of the Right, Tom Cotton, he hails from Arkansas the state that gave us Huckabee…..need I say more?

One of the Republican Senators railing against the P5+1 nuclear deal with Iran, Sen. Tom Cotton spoke to Israeli reporters today endorsing the idea of a US military strike, saying he believes the US could easily “send Iran back to day one” on its civilian nuclear program by wiping everything out.

Sen. Cotton went on to downplay the seriousness of a war with Iran, saying he believes it would be quick and easy, likening it to the 1998 US attack on neighboring Iraq, a four-day bombing campaign based on faulty US claims of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction.

This babbling idiot is wrong, as usual…….the 1998 strikes were not the success that they seem to think it ways……why?

Cotton is one of several US Senators touting the 1998 strike as a model, despite that attack resting on faulty claims, and the US turning around just five years later and launching a much bigger, and much more disastrous war on Iraq on the exact same pretext.

I would be more afraid of this type of thinking than of Iran maybe getting a bomb 20 years down the road…….keep in mind all these people have never once thought about the US troops that will have carry out any lame ass plan…….the same troops that these conservs turn their back on when benefits are needed but have NO problem using them as a political prop for re-election…….Israel will spend whatever they have to to change the minds of the American people through ads that are misinformation and outright LIES!

We have enough situations where we must use force….time to start looking for ways to lessen our footprint in the Middle East.

Scott Walker Wants To Run The Country. Here Is How He Ran Wisconsin. | ThinkProgress

Poor Scott Walker……he chose the wrong day to come out…….his day for massive coverage of his announcement to seek the nomination has been crapped all over by the Iran nuke deal…….poor Scott.

But of course Walker like all other governors that run for national office use his time in the state as a experience in government…….they think they can govern………. they tell us they can run the country……..NOT LIKELY!

We have heard how he fought the unions and won, his success on voting elimination, his defunding of planned parenthood etc….the problem is that does not help explain how he did for the economy or the people of his state…….

So to help Poor Scott out I have found such an article….this is how he ran his state……

Scott Walker: Comedian In Training?

The list of GOP candidates grows then shrinks……but one candidate that is probably running but has not made it official yet with an announcement is Wisconsin’s governor Scott Walker….he appears to be the darling of the Right…..the Right that has half a brain that is……

I judge a candidate by his answers to foreign policy questions…..why?  Internationally is where we have the most problems and the most entanglements…….foreign policy experience does mean a more aware candidate…….

But what about Walker’s chops internationally?

Okay he was a governor and that could be good to govern the country…….but he said that one of his strong suits is that he has visited other countries……

“And I do think if foreign policy plays an important role, the contrast will be clear because just about everywhere Hillary Clinton has played a role with this president — under President Obama — that part of the world is largely a failure, a mess,” he continued. “Because of the policies we’ve seen from Obama and Clinton.”

After noting that Walker had recently visited Israel, a trip partially paid for by billionaire Sheldon Adelson, Schieffer wondered what made the Wisconsin governor qualified to lead the county’s foreign policy.

“As a governor, I’ve been, just recently in Germany, in Spain and France,” Walker explained. “Earlier in the year, it was the United Kingdom on trade related missions. A few years back in China and Japan. So, that’s probably the most of any governor of either party has is that experience in terms of trade relations.”

If visiting other countries would make one the best choice for president then I should be in the running for I have visited 22 countries…….does that make me 4 times more qualified than he?  It is pathetic to think that anyone who has simply visited other countries is the best person for the job of president…….

Walker is just another clown for the car that is the GOP……..this one statement shows a serious lack of judgement…..and judgement is a prerequisite for the presidency……at least in my mind.

He’s out as a viable candidate.

There could be a alternate explanation for his irresponsible statement…………..Maybe he was trying out material for his new day job……..as a COMEDIAN!

5 signs Scott Walker is employing GOP’s racist “Southern Strategy” – Salon.com

The 2016 elections are knocking on the door…..and the media is already picking your faves for you…….the closer the “silly season” gets the more candidate stories we will hear and see…….most of them are mere distractions……that is not saying there are no truly impressive people thinking of running…….

The fair hair boy that some analyst like for the 2016 GOP nomination is Scott Walker…..it seems that he is likeable because of his duties as governor….plus him taking on a recall and winning…..his win against unions……..and his gutting of the state’s funds….all these things make him just adorable to the Right wing media and even some in the MSM……

But there may be a “dark side” to his “force”………
