I shall sum it up for you (and I refused to watch it)…….welcome….blah, blah…….guests…..blah, blah……ISIS……..blah blah….health care….blah blah….education….blah blah……minimum age….blah blah……the economy……. blah blah…..taxes….blah blah ……on and on…..like I said…..worthless.

Then there was the rebuttal from a castrating farm hand and her speech went something like this….yawn….snooze….blah, blah……another long hard yawn….GOP ideas in a nutshell…..plans that have NOT worked in 40 years.

Some will play a drinking game when certain words are uttered….or you could just play this game……try it you’ll like it!

After all it is just a game played at our expense.

Tonight is the BIG night….we will hear from the president on his agenda for the year ahead…..it will be the usual laundry list of items that will be unfulfilled…..promises that seldom go accomplished.

Can you recall any past addresses?  Of course not because it is only a fleeting glimpse into the mind of a politician.

Below is a look into these addresses and just how empty most have been……save yourself the aggravation of struggling through yet another worthless list of promises from the SOTU……… read and weep!

I have given my readers the bad news and now the Good!

The best news for the conservative mindset has been the low approval ratings of the president in the last 2 years or so.  There has been hour after of hour of online shows and the conservative blogosphere has been awash with posts on his demise as a president.  Rush, Breitbart,  Jones and the rest of the mental midgets on the Right have had a field day with Obama’s sagging approval rates……

Obama has raised the ire of the Right in the last month with his immigration and the recognition of Cuba…..the prophets of doom have been running in overdrive…….

Listen!  Can you hear the tires of that bus squealing?”

It is indeed a merry Christmas for President Obama, whose approval rating has jumped to 48%, a 20-month high, CNN reports. The increase comes alongside Obama’s unilateral actions on immigration and Cuba relations, both of which have been popular, polls show; CNN also pins the jump on “improving views of the economy.” Specifically, approval for the president increased among women, independents, and millennials, while dropping among men, Republicans, and those aged 35 to 49.

The GOP will make hay out of this news……especially FOX….they will focus on the ratings with old white guys and the 35-49 group……

This will most likely give me a good Christmas gift…….the indigestion of a Republican….nothing can be sweeter than a GOPer with an aggravated ulcer.  And they do not have to waste time wrapping it……


It’s All Obama’s Fault

That seems to be the sport of the year, well in most cases the last 6 years, to blame Obama for whatever is in the news of the day.  The crashed economy, Ebola virus (btw, do we really need a logo for a disease?),………I could continue to list all the possibilities but instead just pick a subject and I am positive that you can find someone who can pin it on Obama.

In the news is of course the outbreak in West Africa…..shootings…..and of course the big elephant in the room…ISIS.

And yes someone is blaming the rise of ISIS on, who else?  OBAMA.

I have heard all the Right wing excuses for the rise of ISIS and even a few from the Left….but the best accuser is a prince from Saudi Arabia……..

Saudi Arabia‘s Prince Turki al-Faisal on Tuesday blamed the United States and Europe for the rise of the Islamic State.

“Had America and Europe listened to the kingdom and provided the moderate opposition with anti-tank, anti-aircraft and artillery weapons, we would not have had to deploy our air forces to face the challenge of [the Islamic State],” Faisal said in the keynote address of the annual Arab-US policy conference put together by the National Council on US-Arab Relations. “These terrorists filled the void because of this neglect of the genuine opposition. And while Assad continued to bomb and gas his people, the moderate opposition had to fight on two fronts.”

Faisal is often trotted out to declare publicly what current Saudi officials say in private. Last year, he told Al-Monitor in an interview on the sidelines of the NCUSAR conference that there was a “high level of disappointment” with the Obama administration’s Syria policy.

May I ask……what prevented these toads from doing what it took to fuel the conflict?

I love it when these people trot out and make public statements to cover their butts.

Saudi Arabia is the home of Wahhabism which is at the core of the extremists beliefs of ISIS and Al-Qaeda.  Plus substantial funding for these groups flow out of places like Saudi Arabia and Qatar..

Yes the CIA is partially to blame for the rise of ISIS….but to lay it all on the shoulders of Obama is just ignorant……I mean would they want the US to lay all the blame on the kingdom and its royal family?

It could be asked….just what did the kingdom do to prevent the rise of ISIS?….they claim they warned the US and Europe of the rise of ISIS but yet did very little to do anything about that rise.

They are safe and secure because they, the Saudis, know that the West will not let anything happen to them …..and why is that?

We all know the answer too damn well……..don’t we?

ISIS: Never Underestimate The Enemy

OMG!  FOX News should be jerking off in their lunch pail……Obama has said….”we underestimated the scope of ISIS”…..OMG!  OMG!

Asked if the rise of the Islamic State caught the United States by surprise, President Obama gives a resounding affirmative: “That’s true,” he tells Steve Kroft in a 60 Minutes interview airing tonight. “That’s absolutely true.” After US marines crushed the militants in Iraq, he continues, “they went back underground, but over the past couple of years, during the chaos of the Syrian civil war, they were able to reconstitute themselves and take advantage of that chaos.” The terror group used “very savvy” social media skills, sold “foreign fighters (on) their jihadist nonsense,” and turned Syria into “ground zero for jihadists around the world.”

“That’s why it’s so important for us to recognize part of the solution here is gonna be military,” Obama continued, emphasizing the administration’s plan to “push them back, and shrink their space.” House Speaker John Boehner, speaking today on ABC’s This Week, seemed to take that line a bit farther, saying, “At the end of the day, I think it’s gonna take more than airstrikes to drive them outta there. At some point somebody’s boots have to be on the ground.” Asked if those boots should be American, he said: “We have no choice. These are barbarians. They intend to kill us. And if we don’t destroy them first, we’re gonna pay the price.”

I have a couple of thoughts on this revelation…….on the one hand, it is refreshing to hear some honesty coming out of the mouth of a politician…….I say refreshing because we would have NOT gotten such honesty from a previous administration……….and on the other hand….I have been criticizing the intel community for some years now as out of touch……..

My problem with this relavation is that there is one special media outlet will try to make that some sort of campaign issue trying to help struggling morons in the upcoming mid-terms……

May be we will see a new day in speaking about the war we are now fighting…..

Congrats! We Are Going To War! (Again)

First, today is Patriot Day a remembrance of the 9/11 attacks…take a minute out of your day to remember those who lost their lives on that day.

Today on IST is going to be a day where I will post and press numerous articles about the decision for the US to return to a war footing…..the neocons should be jerking off in the corner….at last the country is listening to their constant war drumming…..there will be lots in the media today…lots of whys and whens and what ifs…..just tune in here and avoid all the research…….

Before the Prez could give his speech the morons in Congress were out posturing….doing what they do best…NOTHING but talk!

First, the narrative for the last couple weeks has worked…….the MSM and the war hawks have been seasoning the American public to accept a return to war…….

Some six in 10 Americans say they would support a strike against ISIS, as President Obama appears to be moving toward such a hit. The figure comes from an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll that also finds Americans feeling unsafe: Some 47% of the country now feels the US is less secure than it was before the 9/11 attacks. Just a year after those attacks, NBC notes, only 20% shared that feeling; last year, it was 28%. One news item fueling the fear: US journalists’ beheadings, which 94% of Americans are aware of. That’s the highest level of awareness of any story in the past five years, according to the poll.

A day before the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Obama is preparing for a tough speech. Tonight in prime time, he’ll discuss the US plan against the group, an initiative that will start small and expand; eventual airstrikes in Syria are possible, Politico reports, while the AP notes that major troop action on the ground is unlikely. Meanwhile, a generation has come of age as the post-9/11 conflict has continued, the AP notes. In an earlier vision of the future, Iraq was supposed to be fending for itself by this point, with US troops largely leaving Afghanistan combat behind; instead, we’re preparing for further action in the region. “The Cold War took 45 years,” says a former George W. Bush adviser. “It’s harder to see how this ends.”

Now as promised….the Prez went on TV in prime time to explain what the US is about to do……I promised an analysis……

President Obama tonight laid out the US strategy to “degrade” and “destroy” ISIS in a prime-time address, and he made clear that he’s ready to expand US airstrikes from Iraq into Syria. The president says a US-led coalition will go after militants from the Islamic State “wherever they exist,” adding that he “won’t hesitate” to order strikes in Syria if necessary. Here are excerpts, in which he refers to the group by the alternate name of ISIL, via CNN and the Washington Post:

  • “So tonight, with a new Iraqi government in place, and following consultations with allies abroad and Congress at home, I can announce that America will lead a broad coalition to roll back this terrorist threat. Our objective is clear: we will degrade, and ultimately destroy, ISIL through a comprehensive and sustained counter-terrorism strategy.”
  • “If you threaten America, you will find no safe haven.”
  • ISIS “is not Islamic. … It is a terrorist organization pure and simple.”
  • The US is meeting the threats posed by the group “with strength and resolve.”
  • “I want the American people to understand how this effort will be different from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It will not involve American combat troops fighting on foreign soil. This counter-terrorism campaign will be waged through a steady, relentless effort to take out ISIL wherever they exist using our air power and our support for partner forces on the ground. This strategy of taking out terrorists who threaten us, while supporting partners on the front lines, is one that we have successfully pursued in Yemen and Somalia for years.”
  • He said 475 more US service members will go to Iraq, but “they will not have a combat mission.” (He also noted that John Kerry is already in the country to work with the new government on the anti-ISIS coalition.)

Based on recent polls, the president won’t have a hard sell in convincing Americans that military action against ISIS is necessary.

Are you happy?  Now that it is official there are a few points I would like to throw in…….1) “ultimately destroy”….you cannot do that from the air.  Ground troops will be necessary.  2) “No safe haven”–stating the obvious–every bad guy knows that already, drones have hit it home.  3) “with strength and resolve”–now that is conveniently vague…what does it mean?  4) Here’s a thought do not use Somalia or Yemen, both are bloody messes with NO end in sight.  Guess what?  The ISIS thing is end in sight.  5) “no combat mission”–you do realize that if they carry weapons the mission is combat related, right?  6) He also mentioned “America’s core interests”–what are those exactly?

What I did not hear was….1) who will be that force on the ground?  2) what to do about the countries that are financing ISIS?  3) Just how we will convince the by standers in the Middle East to get involved?  Those questions would go a long way to pointing the way forward in Iraq.and shine a light on how we will get ourselves out as soon as possible. But wait!  There is more.   4) Why now?  There has been a humanitarian crisis going on for at least a couple of years so…..why now?   5) Tell the American people why ISIS is a pressing threat to the homeland?  6) How to make the Iraqi army more dependable–right now it is as worthless as tits on a boar.

Congrats America….you have a new war to cheer then bitch about……The Prez has done exactly what I thought he would do…..sugar coated the information to make returning to Iraq more palatable to the American people…..he threw in every talking point that had been reported in the media….GOD!  I love propaganda!

All in all a nice little speech….seeking support for something that will be done without it……made me feel warm and fuzzy.

I smell another Middle East folly in the making.  Or is it the whiff of oil I smell?

McCain offered his analysis and he is still an old worthless wind bag who will do whatever it takes to get more American soldiers killed….typical posturing from an old jet jockey……..(sorry off topic)

The GOP is demanding the prez come up with a strategy…..not out of any genuine concern but rather to be used during the upcoming election……this is so much silly political game they, GOP, is playing………..

The prez will be addressing the nation today with his new plan to fight and ultimately destroy ISIS…..my views on this are well documented here on IST…..to me his speech will be nothing but a feel good collection of words…….the American people deserve honesty.

This is the speech that Obama should give to the American people…….but will not.
