Palestine:  How About A One State Solution?

Of all the solutions for the problems in the Holy Land the one that I have heard most from Americans is that of a one state solution…….with the idea that democracy can repair all problems……

People that believe in this solution also believe that Israel is a democracy and that alone could make the one state solution work…..Haha!

U.S. support for a one-state solution could actually bring the Israelis and Palestinians to the table.

There are, theoretically at least, three alternative outcomes to any Israeli-Palestinian peace process: a two-state solution, a one-state solution or the present situation, which is to say no solution. So far most Palestinians (and other Arab governments) and Israelis have preferred the status quo to any alternative outcome that the other side would accept. Moderate Arabs and Israelis support, in principle, a Jewish state and an Arab state living side by side in the former Mandate of Palestine. There are elements on both sides that favor a one-state solution, covering all or most of historic Palestine, although they obviously differ on exactly how that resultant state would be formulated and how Arabs or Jews would share power within it.  (Read More……)

Source: U.S. Could Push One-State Solution to Bring About Israel-Palestine Peace – US News

The article from US News and World Report is at best a pipe dream of colossal proportions…….for one anyone that would spend a little time educating themselves will see that there is nothing democratic about Israel save an election ever so often…..and an election does not a democracy make.  At what point does a democracy confiscate land, destroy crops, attack children and turn non-violent protest into terrorism?  Israeli racism is running rampant….to the point that attacks on Palestinians has escalated to the point of burning young children to death in an arson attack on a home…….

The problem is there is so much misinformation floating around about this situation that labels all Palestinians as “terrorists”…….there are sources to look at for some small amount of truth……

I do not see any hope for a one state solution to be the answer to the situation between the Israelis and the Palestinians…..I believe that the two state solution is the only answer and now that Israel is building their retaining wall around the West Bank then that could be a good place to start……I have given my idea on how to turn Palestine into a state ……(Read On)…….

In conclusion……the one state solution would be more disastrous for Palestinians than the situation that they now live with……there would be little to prevent Israel from erasing Palestine from the memory of the world.

Will Gaza Be ‘Uninhabitable’ by 2020?

Since most people are moved in one direction or the other by the headlines then this will not get much rise out of many…..I know with the refugee crisis we can only handle one horror story at a time…..but this is as big as the refugee story…..just NO one gives a damn!

I know that few Americans will remember the Israeli attack on Gaza last Summer……I mean why should they it is not like it was any of their concern, right?

Wrong!  Anytime we have a nation that decides that the destruction of a way of life be their personal benefit is nothing short of  war crimes and should be charged as such.

Let me refresh your memory….last Summer Israel used the time honored excuse for the destruction of a way of life…..self-defense to destroy as whole society….

What once looked like this……a thriving city…….

Now looks like this……..

Their actions did not intend on punishing those that want to fire rockets into Israel proper but rather a destruction of a way of life and an entire society…..whose citizens had nothing to do with those fearsome, yet inaccurate rockets that are allegedly fired into Israel from Gaza.

Their action, the Israelis, was begun with one aim to make Gaza uninhabitable and in doing so they believe they have removed any threat.  Not damn likely!

The total destruction of Gaza was aimed not at the infrastructure that could be used for future attacks but rather the people as a whole…..they spent hours and days bombing everything from power plants to schools to hospitals….all of which is approaching a genocide.

But after the dust settled the world came to the rescue of Gaza with assistance in the rebuilding of their society and lives….all to have the operation crapped on by Israel who refuses to allow materials and supplies into Gaza to begin the reconstruction….sorry, that is not self-defense…..more like hatred.

With all these delays….what is the future of Gaza and its residents?

Israeli military action and economic blockade have rendered the coastal strip unfit for civilian life, report says

Source: UN: Gaza Could Be ‘Uninhabitable’ by 2020 | Al Jazeera America

If Gaza is to have a future then Israel MUST be made to follow some sort of decorum and allow the reconstruction begin.  If not then charges should be filed to the ICC as war crimes…..crimes against humanity…..Israel must pay a price for their hatred and their actions.  The rest of the world would demand it from anyone else….Israel is NOT immune to the laws of humanity.

A one- or two-state solution?

World has been debating the question of Palestine and Israel for damn near 70 years……there have been so many plans to solve the conflict that the world has lost count……and yet they keep trying the same type of negotiations time and time again that always ends in failure.

Maybe a new perspective might be a good idea…….this article is a look at the whole question in depth and from a good perspective……..I recommend it highly.

“Greater Israel”: The Zionist Plan for the Middle East | Global Research – Centre for Research on Globalization

Once again I will force feed a little history to my readers………..

When I lecture on the Middle East I always get the question…..what is the deal with Israel and the Palestinians?

I tell my audience that it is a loaded question…..that I could talk for hours and still not give them an accurate look at the situation……

Let us start with the beginning of the desire for a Zionist state……it is the late 1890’s……and Zionists and the Brits make a deal that will give the land of Palestine to the Jews……

A Little History Lesson

First of all let me ask…..Is Texas still under civilian control?  Anyone hear the jack boots of “Jade Helm”?

In the last 100 years a lot has happened……2 world wars, trip to moon, rise and fall of the Soviet Union, numerous “minor” wars, smartphones….on and on……

Let me do what I always do….give you, my reader, a little historical perspective……..

Palestine: One Sided Reporting As Usual

I have criticized the MSM for years about their disproportionate reporting of incidents in the Holy Land…….for instance a Palestinian person goes on a rampage and stabbs several people…it makes the evening news or a Palestinian taxi driver runs through a crowd and it makes the evening news but when something negative is done about an Israeli there is little said……

Like this situation…….

NABLUS: An 18-month-old Palestinian baby died and its parents were injured in a fire started by Israeli settlers in the West Bank, Palestinian security officials said Friday. Four settlers set a house on fire at the entrance of a Palestinian village and scrawled graffiti on a wall before fleeing to a neighbouring settlement, the sources said. Extreme-right Israeli activists have committed acts of vandalism and violence against Palestinians and Arab Israelis for years, attacking Christian and Muslim places of worship and even Israeli soldiers. The attacks are known “price tag” violence – a euphemism for nationalist-motivated hate crimes by Jewish extremists aimed at Arab property.
I am not saying that Palestinian concerns deserve more reporting than that of the Israelis……just that maybe a better balance of what is reported……
To be honest and to their credit………Way Too Early on MSNBC did report this story……but so far nothing elsewhere.  The headline I saw on Twitter was “Palestinian baby dies in an extremist attack”…..no mention that the extremists were Jewish……
It is time for the media to stop ignoring the Palestinians in favor of reporting for the Jewish cause…….
Everyone is looking for a solution….and the one I have is simple……remove ALL settlers from the West Bank and allow NO more Jewish building in the area.  The Palestinians will not have to look over their shoulder daily waiting for the next attack by an “extremist”…….Israelis would not need to worry about their safety either……
But appears to me that the Israeli government does NOT want a peac3eful settlement to this problem……they prefer confrontation to co-existence…….

Where Would Jesus Settle? « Antiwar.com Blog

We all have been exposed to endless WWJD (what would Jesus do), right?

We also have heard a wide array of false prophets tell us what Jesus would say and what God would say about whatever topic is important to Bible thumpers……

Consider the Holy Land these days……and now ask ……….”where would Jesus settle” (WWJS)?

This is an interesting piece….well interesting to me…….

Israel’s democracy: ‘Theatre of the absurd’ – Al Jazeera English

I have been writing against calling Israel a democracy for a couple of decades…….elections alone does NOT make a democracy.

And I agree with this author’s assertion that Israel’s democracy is nothing but theater of the absurd……there are many short comings in an Israeli democracy but the world overlooks all of them out of some misguided feeling of guilt.

The world’s debt has bee repaid in full….time to force Israel to stop living in the past and move into the 21st century.  They do not want the world to dictate to them yet they have NO problem dictating terms to the world….they condemn Muslims for adhering to strict religious extremism while doing the same thing……..

The time is now for them to become the civilized country they pretend to be……..

What Price Peace?

From the confusion within the mind of Chuq

Since about 1948 there has been a hope from most of the world that the Israelis and the Palestinians would find a way to solve their problems and live in peace.

And for the last 70 years there has been one type of peace process or another……neither side wants to admit to the problem and find a way to live side by side in peace.

Land, water, etc have been at the center of the situation……the right of return for Palestinians that fled decades ago……all have met with nothing but lip service……in other words lots of talk with NO action……

Since the beginning of hostilities the price of war has been the civilians….governments talk, civilians die…….but there has got to be a way that a peace can be agreed to that makes both sides happy and prosperous…….right?

Actually there has been a study done that shows both sides would benefit monetarily from a peace deal……….

A new study by the RAND corporation, however has put a straightforward dollar amount on what Israel could expect in economic growth simply from not being the ultra-paranoid Sparta in the Levant engaged in an endless series of pointless wars with its impoverished neighbors.

If Israel made peace right now, the study concluded they could expect their economy to grow by an additional $123 billion over the next 10 years, with much of the growth coming simply from reducing the perceived instability of the country among international investors.

Since Israel’s GDP is about $300 million that would expand their GDP by a third…….which would benefit their citizens immensely……..

More Rand study findings……..

  • A two-state solution provides by far the best economic outcomes for both Israelis and Palestinians. Israelis would gain over two times more than the Palestinians in absolute terms — $123 billion versus $50 billion over ten years.
  • But the Palestinians would gain more proportionately, with average per capita income increasing by approximately 36 percent over what it would have been in 2024, versus 5 percent for the average Israeli.
  • A return to violence would have profoundly negative economic consequences for both Palestinians and Israelis; per capita gross domestic product would fall by 46 percent in the West Bank and Gaza and by 10 percent in Israel by 2024.
  • In most scenarios, the value of economic opportunities gained or lost by both parties is much larger than expected changes in direct costs.
  • Unilateral withdrawal by Israel from the West Bank would impose large economic costs on Israelis unless the international community shoulders a substantial portion of the costs of relocating settlers.
  • Intangible factors, such as each party’s security and sovereignty aspirations, are critical considerations in understanding and resolving the impasse.
  • Taking advantage of the economic opportunities of a two-state solution would require substantial investments from the public and private sectors of the international community and from both parties.

Peace would benefit everyone involved in the conflict……so why is it being ignored?  Is some silly religious BS more important than the well being of the people you claim to represent?

Rulers who put war over economic growth and prosperity should be eliminated………the people need to pull their heads out of their asses and see what is being done to them in their name…….

It is pathetic that people are so complacent that they would allow this madness to continue and forgo any economic benefits…..if this is the price of faith then I prefer to live without it.

Another UN Whitewash

Since the last Gaza War there has been a movement to hold Israel up for crimes against humanity at the ICC…..of course Israel has pulled out all stops especially in the US to see that this does not happen……I was hoping that common sense and logic would possibly prevail……I was WRONG!

A recent report that was issued has blamed both sides for “crimes”…….

Evidence of “serious violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law” in the Gaza Strip was noted in a UN report released today—and both Israelis and Palestinians got hammered, the AP reports. But the Human Rights Council probe into the Gaza war that started last July pays special attention to Israel’s role, saying “the onus is on Israel” to explain why so many civilian targets were hit. It also criticizes the country for not giving adequate evacuation warning to civilians before airstrikes, per the Times of Israel. “The commission is concerned that impunity prevails across the board for violations of international humanitarian and human rights law allegedly committed by Israeli forces, whether it be in the context of active hostilities in Gaza or killings, torture, and ill-treatment in the West Bank,” the report reads. “Israel must break with its recent lamentable track record in holding wrong-doers accountable.”

Not that the Palestinians are off the hook. The report found evidence of “indiscriminate” targeting of Israeli civilians by Palestinian rockets; described the “immense distress and disruption to the lives of Israeli civilians”; and cited testimony on the “trauma caused by the constant threat of rocket attacks, infiltrations, and displacement,” as well as from the tunnel system that “traumatized Israeli civilians who feared they could be attacked at any moment by gunmen bursting out of the ground,” as the Times puts it. Neither side is pleased with the report, per the Guardian. Benjamin Netanyahu—who refused to cooperate with the probe—called it “biased” and written “under a committee that does everything but protect human rights.” A senior Hamas official swung at the accusations that civilians were targeted.

To avoid any criticism the UN has blamed both sides for “violations”…..apparently targeting schools and clinics, as well as children is not as bad as firing a rocket that has the success rating of about 5%…….

This was nothing but a whitewash conceived to let Israel off the hook for its crimes………….

When will the world start making Israel responsible for the deaths they create and the destruction they produce and in turn the humanitarian crisis that follows every one of their so-called “self-defense” excursions?
