Will Putin Do It Again?

Will he launch more drones on Ukraine?

Will he try another massive military push in Ukraine?

Good questions but for this post they are moot….it seems some analyst thinks Putin will make a move on Moldova and soon.

A US intelligence expert believes the nation will be making ‘another offensive military campaign’, as it was suggested another post-soviet State would be attacked: Moldova, on the border of Ukraine.

The small country has been subject to severe pressure from Russia in the past and has a large Russian-speaking population.

Ivana Stradner, who studies Russia’s security strategies and military doctrines, explains in The Telegraph that its media spreads ‘outlandish claims’ that Moldova is laced with Western intelligence services. Adding to reasons why the nation may target the Eastern European spot, the media also claims ‘MI6 is taking control of the Moldovan elections’.

Plus, Moscow has even made claims that intelligence in Moldova has been working with Ukraine to ‘sabotage Russia’.

So, these claims would suggest Moldova is being used as a weapon against Russia by the West. Therefore, it could lead to it falling into the same situation as Ukraine.

US intelligence expert Rebekah Koffler also explained the idea Russia may launch another attack in the coming years.

“As a military intelligence analyst specialising in Putin’s thinking and Russian military strategy, I agree with Rutte’s assessment about Russia’s readiness for another offensive military campaign in just a few years,” she wrote for The Telegraph.

“I’m less convinced that a NATO country is likely to be the Kremlin’s next target, unless the alliance directly intervenes in Ukraine by deploying troops onto the battlefield.

“Nevertheless, what NATO does or doesn’t do in the next few years could be highly significant in determining whether Putin decides to attack another post-Soviet state, such as Moldova.”

My thoughts are…..first does he have the assets to start another conflict?  I mean he cannot close his adventure into Ukraine so does that bode well for another conflict?

Granted I do not have access to classified info but by the accounts that are in the public domain I do not see another adventure in the best interests of Putin.

Moldova might be an easy target for him but will it really help the situation in the region?

Donny has given Putin 10 or 12 days to bring the Ukraine adventure to a close….but will that just be another yo-yo policy from the administration?

That Moldovan Thing

All the pundits are trying to zero in on just Putin’s intentions will be after the Ukraine fighting winds down…..will Vlad the Invader have his eyes on another region for his exercise in masculinity…..

I purposed that a neighbor of Ukraine could be next….the nation of Moldova…

My friend over at American Liberal Times also had his thoughts down for what is next for Putin…..

Russia’s new push in the South of Ukraine where Russia could open up a corridor to the separatist region of Moldova….

A Russian deputy military commander said Moscow could seize Ukraine’s Black Sea coast to create a corridor to a breakaway region of Moldova.

On Friday, Rustam Minnekaev, acting commander of Russia’s Central Military District, said, “control over the south of Ukraine is another way to Transnistria, where there is also evidence that the Russian-speaking population is being oppressed.” He added, “One of the tasks of the Russian army is to establish full control over the Donbas and southern Ukraine.”

Nearly 500,000 people live in Transnistria, a narrow section of Moldova that borders Ukraine. While no countries recognize its sovereignty from Moldova, it has been self-ruled since 1992. Russia has about 1,500 peacekeepers in Transnistria.

The Moldovan said the comments conflict with Russia’s stated policy. “These statements are unfounded and contradict the position of the Russian Federation supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, within its internationally recognized borders,” the Moldovan foreign ministry told the Washington Post.

This thing is far from over….just by the words of Russian generals……

A Russian commander made it clear Friday that Moscow isn’t planning to stop the war in Ukraine anytime soon. State media quoted Rustam Minnekayev, acting commander of Russia’s central military district, as saying Russia plans to take full control of southern Ukraine as well as the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine, Reuters reports. Minnekayev reportedly said Russia plans to hold southern Ukraine as a land bridge between Donbas and Ukraine, and as “another way to Transdniestria, where there is also evidence that the Russian-speaking population is being oppressed.”

To protect the Russian speaking minority…..where have we heard this before in history?

Then rockets attack in the break-away region…..

Over the past few days, multiple attacks and explosions have been reported in the breakaway Transnistria region of Moldova that borders Ukraine. Transnistria has been a de facto independent state since 1992 and hosts about 1,500 Russian troops on a “peacekeeping” mission.

On Monday, several explosions that were said to be caused by rocket-propelled grenades reportedly hit Transnistria’s Ministry of State Security in the capital Tiraspol. On Tuesday, the territory’s Security Council said a “terrorist attack” hit a military unit near Tiraspol.

Vadim Krasnoselsky, the leader of Transnistria, said the attacks could be traced back to Ukraine. “The traces of these attacks lead to Ukraine,” Krasnoselsky said, according to Russia’s Tass news agency. “I assume that those who organized this attack have the purpose of dragging Transdniestria into the conflict.”

Both Russia and Moldovan President Maia Sandu expressed concern about the attacks. “This is an attempt to escalate tensions. We decisively condemn such acts,” Sandu said. She attributed the blasts to “internal differences between various groups in Transnistria that have an interest in destabilizing the situation.”

What’s Next For Putin?

The MSM has generated a continuing saga with an off the cuff statement…..calling for a coup against Putin (not really but the media has made it so)….

But the question has been asked….what will Putin do next?

After the guns fall silent….I ask what is next for Putin and/or Ukraine?

If things do not go well in Ukraine could “Vlad the Invader’ seems to have an old idea…the partition of Ukraine….

If I remember properly I believe back in 2003/2004 Biden was a proponent of partitioning Iraq into 3 ‘states’….a bad idea for Iraq….

Now I have read about a similar idea from Putin about Ukraine…..

Since Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine on February 24, most western media accounts have assumed that his goal is to conquer the entire country, overthrow the elected government, and replace it with a pro-Russian regime. These reports, and the maps that accompany them, often fail to take into account the different regions of Ukraine, and how Russia may covet some more than others.

This is the same fundamental error that accompanied early reports on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which often overlooked internal ethnic and religious territoriality in those countries, and used top-down political and military analysis that treated them only as unitary states. It wasn’t until later in those wars that maps of ethnic and sectarian divisions began to explain the patterns of resistance to U.S. occupation. Like those two countries, Ukraine is not just a piece on a geopolitical chess board, but a place, with its own rich diversity and relationships among peoples.

Moreover, western media tends to treat the Ukraine conflict only in the light of the 20th-century Cold War, assuming that the former KGB agent Putin wants to recreate the Soviet Union. Yet Putin has said the exact opposite, in a flourish of anti-Communist rhetoric that preceded the invasion. His vision is clearly of a renewed Russian Empire, but analysts from recent settler-colonial states have difficulty understanding that memories can extend many centuries earlier than the mere 74-year life of the Soviet Union.

Is Putin Heading Toward a Partition of Ukraine?

Let’s leave Ukraine in the rear view mirror, for now…..

Will Putin be happy with a victory in Ukraine?

Some say no….that his relentless assault on Ukraine is only the beginning…..

Turn your attention to Moldova to the west of Ukraine…..

The thing is that there is a friend in this region other than Belarus….Transnistria

Map of Moldova with Transnistria y Gagauzia marked (see online version... | Download Scientific Diagram

This break away region is Russia friendly…but that is for another post, no doubt)…..

Here is a video from Belarus that claims that Russia has further desires in Eastern Europe….

Is this a reality or just posturing?

Is ‘Vlad the Invader’ really that bloodthirsty?

I think not.  His army has proven that they are not up to invasion successfully.

But we shall see.

It’s A Dirty Business

An op-ed that I wrote for my friends at Ace News Room…..

I am always amused when some neocon uses a nuclear holocaust when trying to make a period especially when the subject is world affairs…..you know the claim……that allusion of a “mushroom cloud” rising over whatever event these people are referring to in their speech…..whether it is DC or Israel or Europe…..matters not they use the same allusion to attempt to make a point………..Hell it has been used by this politician or that for 50 years or more……..personally I am sick of this imagery…..maybe they could find something else to scare the gullible……

Just listen to the rhetoric coming from our pro-war candidates…..that cloud is ever present…….
