Journalist or ‘unprivileged belligerent’? – Al Jazeera English

There are many of us Americans that remember the images that the journalists gave us of the Vietnam War…..many were of horrendous battles, events and situations and in some way lead to the anti-war movement having such an impact.

The US government was NOT going to allow that to happen again!

That situation was eliminated during the first Gulf War where the military had a close grip on the media and did not allow any of the freedoms that were allowed during the Vietnam era…..and that tight hold has continued today.

Basically it is that the media can have the news that the military wants them to have…..in other words tight press censorship…..some will not call it that but that is what it is…..information control has another name that we seldom use….Propaganda.  Ask the German people just how effective propaganda can be…..

The new manual by the Pentagon, Law of War, goes a few steps beyond censorship……amazing that the news organizations have not made this issue more of a story……or are the news groups just extensions of the government these days?

Read it and tell me where this is a way for a democracy to function……

‘You Betcha!’ Sarah Palin Jettisoned By Fox News (VIDEO)

I saw this news appear on Twitter yesterday and just had to press it……FOX shows signs of intelligence after all……..

FOX News may have just impressed me a tiny bit.

Fox News and Sarah Palin have gone their separate ways. The former Alaska governor’s contract with the network ended as of June 1 and will not be renewed, a Fox spokesperson tells Politico. The rep says the split was amicable, and Palin is still expected to show up on Fox and Fox Business as a guest. Politico says the move was made because execs no longer see Palin as quite so “relevant.” (But she’s not exactly going anywhere: As Politico notes, she has her own TV show, gives frequent speeches, will likely appear on other networks and cable channels, and has a “new publishing project” in the works.) CNNMoney notes that Palin and Fox previously split in 2013, but she returned to the network the same year.

It appears that they have kick poor Sarah to the curb…….seems her flame is flickering and with a little luck it will finally go out…….

STOP Bitching About FOX

We all see that FOX News has a tendency to be less than accurate in some of their reporting……and we can bitch about their lies….but guess what?

They are doing nothing illegal!

Is Brian Williams The Only Liar?

Appears as today is my day to bitch and moan about the media……I cannot think of a group that needs criticism more than the MSM….how about you?

The Right has been having a field day with the revelation that Brian Williams told a lie about his time in Iraq.  The problem I have is not that he lied but rather Bush gets a ride for all his lies about Iraq, especially from the same Right wing primates.

But with all the hub-bub about Williams I would like to ask….is he the only media liar?

What is the old saying about pointing a finger?

 

Bill O’Reilly Has His Own Brian Williams Problem | Mother Jones.

 

To be fair Billy boy has denied any lies about his reporting…….

Bill O’Reilly aggressively defended his own war reporting last night, dismissing accusations that he embellished his work about the Falklands and El Salvador in the 1980s as a “political hit job” from a “far left zealot” and “liar.” The Fox News host is referring to David Corn of Mother Jones, who posted a piece Thursday headliined, “Bill O’Reilly Has His Own Brian Williams Problem,” notes the Wall Street Journal. Specifically, Corn says O’Reilly has repeatedly stated that he reported from the Falklands while he was with CBS. Part of O’Reilly’s response:

  • “Everything I’ve said about my reportorial career—everything—is true. Thirty-three years ago in June, Argentina surrendered to Great Britain, ending the Falklands War. I was covering the conflict from Argentina and Uruguay for CBS News. After learning of the surrender, angry mobs in Buenos Aires stormed the presidential palace—the Casa Rosada—trying to overthrow the government of General Leopoldo Galtieri. I was there on the street with my camera crews. The violence was horrific, as Argentine soldiers fired into the crowd, who were responding with violent acts of their own. My video of the combat led the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather that evening and, later on, I filed a report that ran nationwide. That’s what happened. I never said I was on the Falkland Islands, as Corn purports. I said I covered the Falklands War, which I did.”

Corn begs to differ, citing examples including O’Reilly’s own 2001 book in which he writes, “I’ve reported on the ground in active war zones from El Salvador to the Falklands.” You can read the transcript of O’Reilly’s remarks here, and Corn’s annotated response here.

The game of news tennis goes on……Billy boy would not lie to his adoring public, now would he?  A self-styled idol such as Bill would not stoop so low as to lie about anything……(Sorry have stop there….my sides are killing me from the laughter that is pouring out uncontrollably).

There seems to be some trouble in paradise….Tea Party paradise that is……appears that there is some hint of “despicable practices” within the sector……

I think more media types should be appalled at the content of their reports…….but this is a little tipped to crazy……

ISIS Is “Demoralized” And “Reeling”

That is the story that the Pentagon keeps spreading through the airways……thus making the MSM an accomplice in the use of propaganda……Americans are reassured that the USA and its allies are handing ISIS their asses on a plate…….

There is a slight problem with all the successes we are told about……

The first Western journalist to receive wide access to ISIS-controlled territories says the group is “much stronger and much more dangerous” than the West knows, the Independent reports. The ground it controls has “dimensions larger than the UK,” Jürgen Todenhöfer, who has returned to Germany after 10 days with the group, tells German-language media. And its support is apparently expanding: “Hundreds of willing fighters arrive from all over the world” every day, and they show “an almost ecstatic enthusiasm that I have never encountered in any other war zone.” What’s more, in Mosul, Iraq, some 5,000 ISIS members sleep so far apart that bombing them all would require destroying the city, he says. And “with every bomb that is dropped and hits a civilian, the number of terrorists increases.”

ISIS continually says it wants to take over the world, and it “plan(s) the biggest religious cleansing in history,” Todenhöfer says. Meanwhile, it has worked to create “social welfare” and develop education—including for girls, which surprised the journalist. “The only ones who could stop this now are the moderate Iraqi Sunnis,” he says. “If you want to defeat an opponent, you must know him.” Todenhöfer, 74, headed to Mosul after extensive discussions with ISIS fighters via Skype, al Arabiya reports. He was joined by his son, who was in charge of filming the journalist’s interviews, Deutsche Welle adds. Today he’s set to publish a reflection on his experiences, with a book also to come.

I am sure that this news will be written off as a reporter with an agenda or that ISIS put on a strong face just for this guy…….but the real news tells a different story….yes they have had some setbacks but they do NOT look like they are losing the war……

Amazing this guys access ro ISIS was under reported….why is that?

Cop’s Interview——A Worthless Display

Decision announced…..violence ensued…….then cop capitalizes on his fleeting fame and grants an exclusive interview to ABC News and the little Greek guy……..

My thoughts on the interview…..but with a different perspective……

I think he is more than right to have his side of the story told…….the problem is that there is NO one to confirm anything he said…..we must take or reject it on face value…….

First he says he was afraid…a logical assumption but a cop should be able to suppress that feeling to get the job done….he was hit in the face and it has been called a savage beating….I have seen the pics of him in the hospital….if that is a savage beating then women should use that term when pressing charges against abuse……he was afraid…..a 6 foot 4 inch man was afraid of a 6 foot 4 inch kid?  Apparently he is one of those people that wants to wear a badge and a gun without thought of what it means to be a cop..

The interview went on and on……we learned that he would have made the same decision if the person was a white teenager……we learned that after being shot Mr. Brown started to run then stopped turned an ran at cop with a clinched fist (did this man take the unarmed self-defense class or was he at Dunkin Doughnut that day?)

The interview continued and the answers were answers that an intelligent person could have predicted the from the start.  Basically it was blah-blah-blah….yada Yada yada……..

The little Greek dude ask a question that made me start the mental process all over again…….he asked the cop if the killing of another person would haunt him (paraphrase) and the answer was predictable….”NO it is something that I had to do and I will cope” (another paraphrase).  His answer was bullsh*t!  If he is not sociopath then that image will be with him for a long time.

This is the question that most angered me.  His question seem to imply that his life would change in ways he may not be aware of at this time……and then………

That question was a logical question…..but my problem is that NO one in the media has ever interviewed a veteran, especially a grunt, and ask that type of question.  WHY?

Could it be that vets are not interesting enough to ask a question like that or maybe the media just does not care…after all they are the ones that help sell the concept of a war to the public.

All in all the cop interview was a pathetic piece of journalism…..
