The Right is involving the subject of fear during the French Revolution, the Guillotine, to try and ‘explain’ the coming of the ‘socialists’.
These conservs are running scared and they should be doing just that…..the Right wing noise machine is trying to use ever opportunity and historical event to try and change the tide in Dem politics.
Hello, this is Victor Davis Hanson for the Daily Signal.
We’re watching a modern-day French Revolutionary-like takeover of the Democratic Party. We could call it the Reign of Terror or the Democratic guillotine.
What I mean by that, in 1793 and ’94, when the French Revolution was well on its way to fruition, a group of radicals called Jacobins, led by the Robespierre brothers, hijacked that revolution and decided that they were going to go far, far to the left of the effort to abolish the monarchy and rename the days of the week, the months, start with a year zero concept, go out and attack private property, and execute people.
Now, I don’t think the democratic socialists are going to do that, but their takeover is similar to the Jacobin takeover. And what is their agenda? Their agenda is a radical Green New Deal, war on fossil fuels, open borders, no deportations, no deportations even for criminally convicted.
In addition to that, cut the defense budget, defund the police, institutionalize diversity, equity, inclusion, chauvinism.
We’re all going to go by our incidental affiliations.
If you’re trans or gay or female or black or Asian, that’s going to be what you identify in as, a large group of the victimized with complaints against the white male, etc., victimizer class.

I have been okay, thanks for asking. I’ve taken a long time off from technology as it was burning me out. Did a detox of sorts. No more social media and I’ve spent 2 years wiping myself from the Internet. I’m in a much better place now.

It would be nice to see the progressives take over the Democratic Party, much like the Tea Party did to the Republican Party. However, most of the Tea Party is now MAGA.

Glenn Sonnenberg’s editorial is remarkably astute. Revolutions can be nonviolent or violent, but the end result is always unpredictable; and, the cause of revolution is always the callous disregard of the people by the ruling elite. The Democratic and Republican parties can either wisely choose structural reforms, or they can unwisely try to maintain the status quo at their own risk. I especially noted these two paragraphs:
“The rise of the radical right and of the Democratic Socialists, while seemingly divergent in their political philosophies, are rooted in the same zeitgeist. There’s broad sentiment in America that the system has failed, that it’s broken beyond an easy fix, and that it’s rigged against the working class and the middle class. As the wealth divide has widened — with wildly unimaginable fortunes being made and multiplying by the day, mostly benefiting the already-wealthy, while jobs are being replaced through AI, and with the rising costs of goods, services, and housing — the mood is right for populism. The Far Right has always had a strong base in France, and there is a lot of overt racism to be seen there at times. But so far they have not succeeded in taking control of the country, and demonising Socialists is a very old tactic. Giving Marine Le Pen another chance in the next election might prove to be a mistake for the Right-wing Nationalists. Her younger number two has more about him, and may have gained more support..
