Closing Thought–04Jan24

Do you enjoy a game of Monopoly or Risk or Clue?

Did you enjoy the 06 January insurrection?

If so you can now relive all the excitement in a board game.

On the third anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the US Capitol, Americans can do it all over again—on a game board. “Storm the Capitol—TrueAnon Edition,” a board game in which players relive the riot, will be released Saturday, per Newsweek. Created by the “TrueAnon” political podcast, the limited edition game allows players to assume the role of a “patriot” (whose goal is to move through the Capitol “collecting ballots, taking hostages, and fighting the police”) or that of a Capitol police officer (who works “to prevent the Patriots from getting to the roof with enough ballots to Stop the Steal”). There, Donald Trump waits with a helicopter to take “patriots” to alter the 2020 election results. If the opposing side wins the game, Joe Biden’s election is certified.

“TrueAnon” hosts Brace Belden and Liz Franczak promoted the game, sold for $64.99, on Tuesday’s episode, with Belden saying it’s “for every single person in America, on every single side of every single political issue.” Or at least those who agree with the podcast’s claim that “January 6th was about having fun with your friends—and this January 6th, that amazing feeling is coming back.” The game claims to let players “relive one of the funniest days in American history.” Belden said it was “the best day of watching TV I’ve ever had in my life” and claimed most of those who died at the Capitol “died from being too excited,” per the Independent. Franczak said playing the game was a “riot of a time.”

According to the Independent, “the game celebrates the violence of the day,” with players gaining points “by stealing ‘AOC’s shoes’ or ‘Pelosi’s laptop.'” The game—intended for players 18 and older, per Raw Story—will be sold on the podcast’s merchandise website. Newsweek reports there was a “fairly positive” online reaction, though this Reddit thread shows there’s plenty of aversion, too. “I think I speak for all sane Americans when I say ‘what the f—ing f—?” reads one comment. “When it comes to traitors, I’m partial to Hangman,” reads another. A third user said the game was “like Monopoly, but every space on the board is ‘Go to Jail.'” A fourth criticized the creators for “mocking the United States and our Democracy and our constitution.”

These d/bags will do anything to earn a buck.

Could I be the Capitol Police and use deadly force?

I will not be interested in this game or anything remotely connected to the idiots that stormed the Capitol.

Any thoughts?

  1. I saw this on Twitter today, and I am amazed they were able to get is distributed and sold. They will be selling one about Concentration Camps next. Appalling.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. You mean all the looting and burning and break-ins to local police stations, federal courts and the downtown business districts in Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis et al in the summer of 2021 were not insurrections? Do you mean attacking innocent people and setting the cars and streets afire were not insurrections? They even surrounded a police station and set it on fire with a dozen or more policemen trapped inside. Jan 6 wasn’t even a squirrel fart compared to this and to suggest that Jan 6 threatened our democracy and was the worst affront to the nation in history is just plain silly. I did not see Trump leading his legions and crossing the Rubicon either. I did not see an army but nothing more than a bunch of perhaps drunk delusional yohoos and a larger among of non violent protesters. How do they posit that the “summer of love” was not a dangerous avalanche of complete lawlessness? You mean when a dozen states and 900 cities declare federal law void having been nullified and even prohibiting local police from assisting ICE, Border Patrol and Homeland Security were not insurrections? I supposed this weekend’s dangerous snowstorms have been initiated by the planning of MAGA Republicans as well.

      1. OK, let’s say the soft characterization “deny government process” is accurate. That’s not how MSNBC,CNN,leftist newspapers, Biden and all the rest call it. They use “insurrection” and MAGA extremists” to stir the condemnation and fear.

      2. No different than the Right calling everyone that disagrees with them Socialist/Marxist….what would you call the attempt to keep the government from performing its duties with force? chuq

  3. I find board games to be the most boring, least exciting, most brain dead activity that a human being can engage in — unless somebody is betting money on the outcome and then I am all for them.

    1. I want to be the Capitol Police and use deadly force against the insurrectionists…..kill them all and let god sort it out. chuq

      1. Surely you are not advocating violence on a WordPress.com blog, now are you? Of course I agree with you but Big Brother might not agree with you… and I am sure He watches our every keystroke.

You have not replied to my statement You merely threw out a “whatabout ism”.

I agree that it is inappropriate to use these names as spoken by MAGAS. There are laws about blocking traffic so there must be laws against anyone obfuscating a government’s operation of daily business. What do we label our government when it does not perform enumerated protocols ? What do I label these creatures that demand the US have no borders ? Globalists ? Internationalists? Those names are too soft. What do we call those who are systematically destroying America in a wide variety of ways ? We have leaders demanding that our whole country be burned to the ground and recreated in the form of all their absurdities. Bolsheviks seems right.

    1. Speaking of not answering a question….what do we called the people that broke into the Capitol destroying as they go? chuq

  5. I can’t think of a name but if they did the things you describe they should be charged with criminal trespass and destruction of government property and any other related charges under federal law. I would not give them a free pass. When Hillary called us deplorables and feeble-minded illiterates I think the motivation of the crowd was there to let Hillary’s aristocracy be condemned for “just who the hell do they think they are ?” not for insurrection. If some thought they could stop Biden from being certified as president or that they could take over the government and install Trump, well I call them delusional stupid jackasses, not insurrectionists. To be labeled insurrectionists would mean a successful insurrection took place. When Beauregard led the attack on Ft Sumpter in 1861 that certainly was an insurrection as was the Whiskey rebellion during Washington’s presidency. I understand hundreds of stinky drunken frontiersmen from Kentucky and Tennessee completely destroyed the White House (furniture, everything)and other buildings wrecking everything in drunken celebration of Andrew Jackson’s inauguration. What shall we call them ?

So I have answered the question. I’m sure our conservative hero Barry Goldwater , (for whom I campaigned for in 1964, 20 hourss a week for 8 months) , would be infuriated with the misconduct of rioters and their actions. So please answer my question: What do we call the dangerous rioters of summer of 1971 who looted, burned, attacked citizens and police and destroyed federal buildings and stores and businesses with their arson in Seattle, Portland and Minneapolis if not insurrectionists ? They even declared areas in cities as free and independent revolutionary sanctuaries which is a form of secession. The bigger crime there, however, is that the democrat leadership did nothing to stop it. Biden and governors should have called out the national guard and arrested and charged these criminals with insurrection and criminal destruction of property and for assaults upon citizens and policemen. So Biden won but he failed to lift a finger to stop the unlawful violence and destruction. Seems he even nurtured that by being oblivious to the whole mess.

    1. Carl all this stemmed from a board game? Insurrectionists are people that try to bring down a government….we can called them protesters but that is just plain wrong. But that is my opinion and that will not change. chuq
