The US has been involved, some call it meddling, in the Middle East for 40+ years……and after 20+ years of involvement in Iraq some of us are asking if we will ever learn a lesson from all this involvement…..
So the question has been asked……..

As long as America keeps on regarding itself as a. the only super-power on earth and b. as the police of the world, and maintains a backward position at home on social services, treatment of veterans, maintaining the positions of minorities like homosexual people in the way they in order to keep the consent of the religious zealots, and as long as at home (that is in America) the People of America remain unwilling to be informed, and these same People accept being indoctrinated by religious and social profiteers and other g0d-claiming creatures…… America and its administration will NOT learn from any experience!
As long as America, its People and its Administration, remain ignorant to the changes among the Peoples of the world, in the effect of opposition to being told what is good and what is bad, and remain ignorant to the changes in attitude among the Peoples of the World Community towards self-governing and self-determination of what their future will be and should be, as long as America remains arrogant and unwilling to adapt to the changed situations around the world, America will not learn from experiences, and every time America acts it will experience huge opposition by and from those who already have developed new policies to survive destruction and degrading of the Human Race and the Human Community!
the US is ate up with a disease, “American Exceptionalism”…..and I agree it has been degrading this country for decades….sadly our politicians will keep this crap going for decades more…..our arrogance will be our downfall…..most Americans will not admit that and that just feeds the arrogance….
As an American living abroad (the Netherlands (aka Holland), Europe) I often feel ashamed when seeing, reading and experiencing the arrogance of my fellow Americans, when they are discussing world-politics!
Either they show complete ignorance of what is happening, having no clue on how things work outside America, and or showing such a total contempt to how non-Americans think and feel, about world-politics!
I have stopped trying to explain American way of thinking to my European friends, and the only thing I do is shrug my shoulders, and tell my European friends that Americans one day will see the light, and that they then will drop off the earth as then they will realize they have been terrorizing the world with ideas and doctrines that ruined the world, and that these same ideas and doctrines resulted from stupidity, idiocy and above all arrogance!
Lets hope the Americans will have their eyes opened soon, and become aware that we Americans are a bunch of self-proclaimed saviors of the world but who failed miserably!
So that the world can start again…….
I know what you mean….I lived in Spain for years and could spot an American a mile away…..they walked around like they were superior, they talked loudly like other were deaf and display disgust because others did not speak English….I agree with your analysis of “stupidity, idiocy and above all arrogance”……I do not think much will change any time soon…..not as long as we look down on others and their culture….
Lets be honest, as long as the majority of Americans remain as they are….. with an attitude of being better then everyone else… the world will regard us as intruders, meddlers, supporters and creators of evil, and above all…. a bunch of nutcases……

And I am not saying that outside America there are no nutcases!
As there are, European nutcases, Asian nutcases, African nutcases, Russian nutcases, and all kinds of sorts of nutcases, BUT the big difference is, I think, that American nutcases are a breed of their own…. sometimes literally……. :-{)
