Pros And Cons Of The Obama Plan

I know that the American public is hopped up on revenge right now…..but is the plan as put forth by the prez the best plan?

Most Americans do not want to hear any negativity about the fight against the Islamic State…..but there needs to be a truthful conversation and a deep search to the realization that there may not be a path to victory against IS.

Obama’s Hazy Plan To Fight ISIS Is Unlikely To Succeed by Ivan Eland — Antiwar.com.

That is the negative….how about a positive….well sort of……..

  1. I would hope that everyone hates war. ISIS knew that as soon as they started beheading Americans our country would want revenge. I am sure that fighting them overseas would be better than having the war in our country. I can’t fathom what would happen if ISIS, I believe some are already here, started beheading Americans on our soil.
I have noticed that 99% of the Muslims have not decried this group.

    1. Probably because 99% of Muslims don’t want to be the next stop on the 2014 ISIS World Tour.

Kidding aside, Bill Maher made a great contextual point Friday. He mentioned that our “good friend” Saudi Arabia severs the heads of people all the time for committing truly evil crimes such as “drinking”, or “having/using a vagina”, and everybody pretends it never happens. Both groups of be-headers claim they are doing God’s work and we in The West call one “evil” and the other “good”.

      1. Evil is in the eye of the beholder. ISIS may have been ignored, for awhile at least, if they didn’t behead the innocents. What I don’t understand why is it taking so long to make a decision on what to do. By the time a decision is made it may be too late.

      2. If you will notice it was all about the Iraqi election…..as soon as they had a new guy the airstrikes began…

      3. Actually treating a prisoner like that is against the Qu’ran….so that alone makes me question their claims on just about everything.

    2. Think about it…would you invade a country that has a worship of guns? May I suggest that they stay out of the South….we have had generations of dealing with people we do not like…..

      1. I am not sure how hard we pushed Maliki to stay. Would there be an ISIS the size and threat that it is today? I think not.

      2. There aren’t many that have war weapons. In our past there have been mistakes made. I have no trouble with protecting my family and friends.

      3. You right it would not fly here. It is simply amazing that feminist have been so silent.

  2. Obama has a plan? That’s news to me! Let me guess, does it involve the continuation of a Bush policy?

    1. No, Obama doesn’t have a plan. If he would just be honest and tell the citizens that boots on the ground may come sooner than later. No one wants boots on the ground, but it may be necessary. Simple truth.

      1. Today’s hearings General told Senate pretty much that exact thing…..but McCain keeps pushing the ‘rebels’ as the answer….he is delusional at best.

      2. the humorous thing is that the GOP has a plan also…..

        Quoted from Rubio……

To confront the Islamic State terrorists, we need a sustained air campaign targeting their leadership, sources of income and supply routes, wherever they exist. We must increase our efforts to equip and capacitate non-jihadists in Syria to fight the terrorist group. And we must arm and support forces in Iraq confronting it, including responsible Iraqi partners and the Kurds. In addition, we must persuade nations in the region threatened by the Islamic State to participate in real efforts to defeat it.

      1. You mean the rebels that became ISIS! You can’t vet which is a terrorist or a rebel soldier.
What should have been done is to hit ISIS as soon as they were in Iraq. Has the US be given permission to bomb inside Syria? Hmmm if not, could it be a declaration of war in Syrias eyes. Would we be prepared to fight their allies? No we wouldn’t because we are broke and we borrow money from China.

      2. This is a class I could teach…..there are so many variables in this situation that I could have enough info for a semester….The Middle East has never had a simple answer.

  3. America is getting closer to energy independence, so hopefully oil isn’t the factor that it (secretly) used to be.

It was strange back in 2003 – Americans used to say the war was not about oil. Then they would turn around and say “hey….maybe this will lower the price of gas from $1.80 to $1.70.” Kind of strange looking back on it.

    1. It was about oil….when we got to Baghdad in 2003 the main objective was to protect the oil ministry….that pretty much told the tale….at least for me.

      1. People seem to forget that when we left Iraq we were basically thrown out…Maliki would not sign an agreement that would have kept troops in reserve….and then we found out that the Iraqi army was a poor security force……and then Maliki started crying in his tea for someone to help him……but some of the oil is from Western Syria and travels through Turkey and even some of the EU buys this oil…..
