Opinion from the desk of the Editor……
I have waited awhile to see if my right wing brethren would have any opinion at all on the problems developing at the VA…..so far all we got from them was some rants about a new federal monument and some pathetic plead to help some D/bag “patriot’ militiaman for cash so he can cover his legal expenses……I guess the treatment of veterans is just not important enough for them to form an opinion.
There is a major tap dance in washing to to assign blame for the mess ups at the VA…..but assigning blame will not repair the problem….all it will do is make someone feel good about what they are doing….all the while the problems continue…
This situation has been called a “national embarrassment” by some…mostly pundits. A National embarrassment? What a good one liner and a slogan for the next election….but an embarrassment? The embarrassment is that military bands get money cash than the VA. AN embarrassment that nothing has changed since 1975. An embarrassment that all the Congresspeople are all outrage…….but most of them voted down a veterans benefit bill. An embarrassment that the soldiers are venerated for their duty and are then treated like a broken tool….and discarded as soon as their usefulness is gone. An embarrassment that veterans need outside help to receive the help they are owed.
Back 2003 I wrote an open letter to the US soldier and told them what to expect once they returned home…….I told them that the country would turn their backs on them first chance they got and the only thing that would be certain is that they would be used as a recruiting tool especially if they won some sort of accommodation.
And then there is the American people………they will thank you for your service and then support morons that care less about the health of our veterans…….they will donate to the charities that help vets basically to soothe their conscience. If the veteran were truly appreciate it then ALL Americans would want to see that all guarantees to the vets are honored…….but instead they focus their tiny brains on mundane crap like a birth certificate or some bloated freeloader in Nevada or some other ginned up crap.
I am not saying that vet groups do not do excellent work…….I am saying there should be NO need for these organizations if the American people truly cared about the plight of the American veteran.
By all means have your witch hunt and assign blame after wasting money and time…….and then tell us how that will repair a sick system that has worked the same for 40+ years. Viet vets are still waiting for the help they need…..so explain to the American people just how all this will fix the problem.

Apparently you missed some of my posts, perhaps focusing on the ones you mentioned. Interesting how you found out the donations for the “patriot” was for legal expenses when those of us who donated didn’t even know. I’m shocked at the D/bag reference when I doubt you know the gentleman.
To clarify my position, I’m in agreement the problem should have been fixed long ago … but even that is not the issue, which seems to be lost on those of my left-leaning friends, like all issues. It’s the concealment of the actual waiting lists and the keeping of two appointment lists, one fake one real and folks died as a result … yet it was covered-up so that the people in charge could get a bonus. Now, Obama has assigned the very guy responsible to “investigate” his own actions.
I said my left-leaning friends seem to miss the point or main issue here, like with other things …
For example, part of an email I got from our friend John:
“I read with interest your article that talks about some parent
objecting to the use of a Village People song in their talent show and
I got the impression . . . rightly or mistakenly . . . that you do not
agree with the arrogance of the parent who objected to the use of the
song in the school talent show.”
My article had nothing to do with the song or gays at all. It had to do with the fact the objection to the talent show was based on “RACISM” … ie … the claim that it’s racist and singling out a race of people allowing first grade children to dress up in the garb of the Village People .. an Indian, a cowboy, a cop, a construction worker and something else …
I even put the definition of racism as the lead for the post. A simple demonstration that it was not “racist” for the kids to dress up for a lousy talent show.
The point was lost on brother John (I’m not picking on him, just trying to make a point) as he got side tracked focusing on something other than the point of the issue.
nice of you to stop by……the D/bag was intended to be just what it sounded like….I have NO use for the militias…..most of them are headline seeking goons……all this is is the typical “I Hate Obama”……it matters not that the vets are being screwed it is more of how ink can we use to try and destroy him….I have not been kind to him and will call him out where i see he has fucked up……I have a problem with anything that does not fix the problem all it is for as much airtime as possible…..this is kinda what I am talking about….we are talking about a lot and little of it has anything to do with the vets….
Chuq. Look friend, I really like you and the deal with the D/bag was only two sentences. I donated $25 to whatever his problem is. I check out the various “militia” sites and I came up with nothing. Kind of hit and miss and I just took the original poster at his word. I didn’t break the bank or give enough for him to buy an R.V. with. Again my friend the D/bag and Federal Monument and Republicans not voting for more funding for whatever has nothing to do with this thing. You and I have no idea what other “attachments” were included in the bill that Harry Reid actually stopped the debate on.
Okay then lets talk about the “fix.” How about a “voucher” card (like a credit card) for all military vets so that if they can’t care at their local V.A. hospital the card is good at any and all medical facilities. Go anywhere, see any doctor any time, Uncle Sam pays the bill. Period. Bingo. Problem solved.
So while liberals blame the Republicans and conservatives blame Obama we have dead veterans who shouldn’t be … and the answer is easy enough. I know, I know, if Obama proposed what I just did the Republicans would oppose it. Who knows? You and I both know both sides attach bizarre piggyback bills … vote for the main one and all the others tag along.
Anyway, I appreciate you Chuq and of all my liberal friends I think you have the best insight into what’s happening and are the most articulate … we just differ on how to fix things.

Steve…on the militia thing……let’s say some ‘socialist’ had guns and were threatening the government…and all said they were protecting our rights…….would they be supported? Doubtful.
my problem with the VA thing is that NOTHING will change except the man at the top……this country has been screwing vets since korea….and the public has allowed it……like I stated before military bands have a bigger budget than the VA…..vets mean nothing…they are useful as a political prop and afterwards are soon forgotten.
