I am a proponent of the legalization of prostitution…….come on we men are gonna have sex……and the oldest profession should be legal. But we Americans are so prudish that we want to control the whole process of screwing….from control or outlawing contraception to making ads more “descent” (whatever that means)……the word obscene is a word that means different things to different people….to me a 300 lb man or woman in a string bikini is the most obscene thing I can think of, at this point in my life…..but we have governments in the states that want to control the whole process of sex…..to them I say…..BITE ME!
After living in Europe I can say that we Americans are dinosaurs when it come to sexuality……
(Newser) – An outsider looking at US law could be forgiven for coming to the conclusion that Americans hate sex. As Rutgers professor Margo Kaplan writes in the Washington Post, judges and politicians “are still strangely squeamish about sexual pleasure” when it comes to legislation. They hold their noses and use terms such as the “physical act” to describe sex, often treating it as an immoral, “joyless,” and downright disgusting behavior. At best, in the eyes of the law, it’s OK during marriage when used for procreation or marital bonding. But pleasure? Forget it.
“Real progress toward sexual freedom would involve courts and legislatures recognizing that there’s value in sexual pleasure,” writes Kaplan. “And that would force judges and politicians to rethink the logic of various laws.” In an age of Fifty Shades of Grey, we still have laws on the books against consensual spanking and sex toys? And “obscenity” gets less constitutional protection than racist speech? It’s time for “more informed discussions” about life in the bedroom, writes Kaplan. “I’d like to think that courts, legislatures and voters are up to the challenge. So, let’s talk about sex.” Click for her full column.
What more can I say….I AGREE!
But there is one thing….one channel has a new shoe, reality, of course, about 2 couple dropped off naked into the wilderness….they are completely naked but the show has everything blurred out…now how many men would turn to this show if it were not blurred out? Or why make a reality show that is that censored?
So, yes….our society is still way too prudish and puritanical……..
Surely, there are thoughts out there……let ’em fly, my friends, let ’em fly……
“After living in Europe I can say that we Americans are dinosaurs when it come to sexuality… our society is still way too prudish and puritanical”
The Puritans setting up shop in New England as one of our earliest societies may have had something to do with this. 😉
Most likely….and we have been paying for it ever since….
chuq; I agree as to the description of our culture’s fear of talking about sex….And a big thank you, organized religion, for yet another useless socially retarded behavior, based on a misogynist delusion… but, beyond that, I do not agree with legalizing prostitution, and here is why… I have read the work of this woman, rmott62 ( http://rmott62.wordpress.com/2012/04/27/are-we-not-human/ ), who is an exited sex worker, and can only submit the invalidity of my own opinion when I compare it to the her, absolutely personal one…. Please check out her site, and you’ll see why I no longer can countenance even the thought of legalization, recognizing it as just another form of control over women…. If the link doesn’t come through, just paste the address into the bar, & it will find it…. Take care, bro….
Thanx for the comment and I will check out her site…..
