I expect to hear one of our political “leaders”, and I use the term loosely, to say something anal and completely moronic…..then I see one from a well respected person and it just becomes even MORE anal when it is said by one of these people….
This one came from the mouth of a well respected journalist around Washington, Helen Thomas…..when asked a question on the street about the Jews and Palestinian thing she replied and on camera to boot….
Jews should “get the hell out of Palestine” and go back to Poland and Germany.
As a professional journalist she should have NEVER made this comment!
Thomas has been fixture at the White News Desk for about 150 years (an exaggeration) and she has let her personal opinion invade her professionalism….it is time for her to remopve her self from the prestigious front row of the WH news briefings……she has outlived her usefulness in the media….time for her to go into retirement…she has had an illustrious career and it would be a shame if it was to be defined be her one statement…..but if she stays…it will BE.
Yeah, stupid and it’s a shame. The trouble is that, in a funny sort of way, I do find I have some degree of sympathy with the sentiments expressed, if not the reality, of her words – in a funny sort of way.
Although it is sooooooo much more complicated than this, in modern times at least, the Jews were kind of “foisted” on the Palestinians in one of those typically catastrophic stitch-ups and “double deals” by politicians during and after WW2.
Why can’t politicians keep their f*cking noses out of things? They invariably make a bad situation far worse!
Everyone was aware of her opinion on this but she is a well respected journalist that had a front seat in the White House press corps, which is a high prestige thingy She is suppose to be a bias free reporter of national fame
She has since making the statement and then apologizing and now she has retired from the Press Corps…maybe she can get her aged butt out of the fire now….
Raises the question whether telling what you see as the truth is being biased.
It’s a bit like having to say, “Well I saw X shoot Y, but to be fair Y didn’t get out of the way of the bullet in time.”
Yeah, right!
I agree that she is entitled to her opinion, but as a journalist she should have wrote an op-ed and not shot off her mouth on camera…..is she right or wrong? That question has been debated for a generation…personally, I think she is about 50 years too late on her statement….it is time to move into the present if peace is ever gonna work……
Yes, I know what you’re saying is right – it’s a tough one and YES it should have been said a long time ago!
Uh huh…..
