You recall Palin in all her cuteness during the 2008 election, when she championed the concept of opening up more of the oil reserves off the different coasts of the US? Right? You DO remember?
Okay, maybe not…..it was her idea or someone in the McCain camp that wanted to end America’s dependence on foreign oil…of course the Dems were not on board with the idea, at least during the campaign…..my, my….what a difference a couple of months makes…
As reported in the NY Times:
The Obama administration is proposing to open vast expanses of water along the Atlantic coastline, the eastern Gulf of Mexico and the north coast of Alaska to oil and natural gas drilling, much of it for the first time
The proposal — a compromise that will please oil companies and domestic drilling advocates but anger some residents of affected states and many environmental organizations — would end a longstanding moratorium on oil exploration along the East Coast from the northern tip of Delaware to the central coast of Florida, covering 167 million acres of ocean.
Under the plan, the coastline from New Jersey northward would remain closed to all oil and gas activity. So would the Pacific Coast, from Mexico to the Canadian border.

You truly believe that the US less than 5% of the world’s oil reserve will ween us from foreign oil? And do you truly believe that the pumping of those reserves will bring the cost of gas down? And that you think this plan will do anything other than increase profits of oil companies?
If you have answered yes to any of these question then you need to put the Playstation control down and pay more attention to your reality…..you people are just idiots and deserve the sh*tty government you have now……
I am seriously concerned that, with all the people living along the seaboard in those places, a problem may be caused by all that drilling. If they drill too many holes and take out too much oil, isn’t it possible that the coastline will tip and dump all of those residents into the sea (apologies to Hank Johnson)? 🙂
But they are drilling onshore also….with all those holes will a piece of the coastline break off and float away….(maybe Johnson will have a good answer)
That also sounds like a worrying possibility to me.
Just a thought… shouldn’t government produce a bill (to be studied, modified and argued over at huge expense, of course) to introduce legislation to set a minimum distance between drilling holes in order to protect us all from this possible outcome…???
Hey! They could even seek international agreement on that one, which would enable them to all jet off to Copenhagen, or the Seychelles, or wherever at taxpayer’s expense – that’d be a good idea too, don’t you think?

I am watching the Tea Party things and while some are morons…there is a core of pissed off people…..but will it transfer to votes this year or in 2010….I see more middle class people turning to the TP….but will they embrace the bullshit or the actual alternative?
