To Save Democracy

It is election time and both sides seem to think that they are the savior of our beloved Constitution…..both are silly in my world….but I read a blog post the other day that I feel needs to be shared.

The Haudenosaunee (Iroquois Confederation)’s Law of Peace and Seventh Generation Principle Can Save our Democracy and Climate

An interesting read and very well thought out…

  1. Howdy Lobo!

One of the greatest takeaways from the post is the Seventh Generation Principle: make decisions with an awareness of how they will affect the seventh generation (200 years in the future) meaning think long-term impact and sustainability, which is what our times call for. How we get there, how we get over our short-term focus is what I’m interested in.

Thank you for the reblog. It is much appreciated and means a lot coming from you.

    1. That’s absurd, Jack. The human race is not likely to even be around in 7 generations. And who could even begin to predict what 7 generations from ours could possibly look like given the speed of change?

  2. The Iroquois kind of demonstrated that they didn’t have a clue as to what was happening as you can see by observing their power in the world today. All their principles didn’t do a damned thing to save them, did they?

      1. If the Iriquois principles were the same as the founders of the United States, I would say that we are all in a shit load of trouble and getting close to the days when we are all going to be marched off to reservations somewhere in a shithole.

      2. I would say the Founders stole ideas which makes them less than admirable…..the Iroqupis are still here just not important enough for you to care…that is a generic ‘you’…..chuq

      3. Oh I care alright…I went to a couple of their events that they called “Pow Wows” and they were glad to take my money for admission to the grounds, but their attitude seemed to be hostile and unwelcoming —most of the time–may be “Rude” would be a better word …so you are right, I don’t care.

      4. I feel that way about anything that wants my money…..or my organs….I do not care…..besides why would a Native American have to make him dislike whites? It is a mystery chuq

      5. I do not go to pow wows any more and I do not contribute to charities involving native americans.
