A Hospital Too Far?

By now all the armchair generals and analysts have read or heard about the Israeli raid on the Gazan hospital….I know they have for the report validates their hatred of a people.

But in case you have not bothered to form an opinion (like that is ever going to happen) here is the original report.

Israel says its forces have entered Gaza’s Shifa hospital, the site of a lengthy standoff. The Israeli army had surrounded the facility as part of its ground offensive against Hamas, claiming the militant group conceals military operations in the hospital complex. But with hundreds of patients and medical personnel inside, it had refrained from entering. It said on Wednesday its forces were conducting a “precise” operation against Hamas in a specific area of the complex while taking steps to avoid harm to civilians. In a statement, the Israeli military said it had warned “the relevant authorities in Gaza once again that all military activities within the hospital must cease within 12 hours. Unfortunately, it did not.”

Israel accuses Hamas of using hospitals as cover for its fighters, alleging that Hamas has set up its main command center in and beneath Shifa hospital, the largest in the besieged territory, the AP reports. Both Hamas and Shifa hospital staff deny the Israeli allegations. The US said Tuesday that it has unspecified intelligence that Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad use some hospitals in the Gaza Strip—including Shifa hospital—and tunnels underneath them to hide and to support their military operations and to hold hostages. The White House’s national security council spokesperson, John Kirby, said the US does not support “striking a hospital from the air.”

Kirby added that the US also does not want to see “a firefight in a hospital where innocent people, helpless people, sick people are simply trying to get the medical care that they deserve.” Conditions at Shifa hospital deteriorated so badly in the days before Israeli forces entered that a World Health Organization spokesman described it as “nearly a cemetery.” Thousands of people have been sheltering at the hospital, where authorities say patients, including premature babies, have been dying because of a lack of fuel for generators. The BBC reports that Hamas issued a statement blaming President Biden for the storming of the hospital, saying that the US had given Israel a “green light” by saying intelligence suggested it was used by the group.

I watched the report and I have a problem….one, we are in a room that could be anywhere….two, there are too many reports from too many people saying almost the same words…..I know I am a cynic but I would have wanted a lot more information before I am convinced.

The ‘evidence’ is not compelling for me…..I found some other info as I tried to get more information and here is the reports….

Israeli troops who raided Gaza’s biggest hospital on Wednesday continued to pore over the grounds on Thursday looking for evidence that Hamas used the area as a secret military base. So far, the Israel Defense Forces have displayed photos of a relatively modest cache of guns, bulletproof vests, and other equipment found in the hospital’s MRI wing, but no proof yet that the hospital complex played a substantial role in Hamas’ strategy, reports the New York Times. Israeli officials insist it will take time to do a thorough search and point out that Hamas knew for days the hospital would be raided and thus had time to hide evidence. Coverage:

  • ‘Underwhelming:’ The evidence presented by the military “so far is underwhelming,” Michael Horowitz, head of intelligence for the consulting firm Le Beck, tells the Wall Street Journal. But he, too, said the search would take a while. “This is a very delicate operation, given how quickly it could turn into a bloodbath.”
  • What they found: The BBC was allowed into the hospital and describes being shown “three small stashes of Kalashnikovs (about 15 in all), ammunition and bulletproof vests.” A lieutenant colonel says they also found military pamphlets, maps, and “a lot of computers and other equipment.” The BBC was not allowed to see the content of the laptops, but Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus says they contain recent images and video of hostages. “At the end of the day, this is just the tip of the iceberg,” he says. “Hamas aren’t here because they saw we were coming. This is probably what they were forced to leave behind. Our assessment is that there’s much more.”
  • Pressure: Israel justified its controversial raid on the hospital by asserting that the hospital complex was built atop a maze of tunnels that allowed Hamas members to come and go easily, and to use the hospital as a “command center,” per the Messenger. Failing to find evidence of that will ratchet up international pressure on Benjamin Netanyahu, notes the Journal. The Times agrees: “Israel’s ability to prove its claim could be key to whether its foreign allies continue to support its military response to Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel.”
  • No US greenlight: The US had agreed earlier this week with Israel’s assessment that Hamas used the hospital complex as a “command-and-control” site, which would be a war crime, notes the Washington Post. But, said national security spokesman John Kirby, “we did not give an okay to their military operations around the hospital—in similar fashion to the fact that we don’t give an okay to their other tactical operations.” UN’s humanitarian relief coordinator tweeted that he was “appalled” by the raid. “The protection of newborns, patients, medical staff and all civilians must override all other concerns,” wrote Martin Griffiths. “Hospitals are not battlegrounds.”
  • Patients: The hospital once had thousands of people, but most have evacuated. Still, the AP estimates that “hundreds of people” remain there, a mix of medical workers and the most vulnerable patients, including infants. With no electricity and scarce medical supplies, the situation is dire by all accounts. The hospital has resorted to using foil to keep premature babies warm.

My problem is that the collection presented could have been from a previous stash…nothing compelling for me.

Let me say right here for all those that have made up their minds….I do not support HAMAS and I do not support Israel (there is more they have done that flies in the face of civility)…no I am not anti-Jew personally I do not care what someone believes ….there is a responsibility to act like civilized beings and neither side is accomplishing that.

Just like all wars the truth is the first causality.

This will be an on-going story for at least the foreseeable future and I am sure that more reports will be forthcoming.

Just my thoughts.

China/US Deal?

Recently on the West Coast Biden and Xi held a round of meetings…..and I am sure some would like to know if anything was accomplished….

US President Joe Biden and China’s Xi Jinping emerged Wednesday from their first face-to-face meeting in a year vowing to stabilize their fraught relationship and showcasing modest agreements to combat illegal fentanyl and re-establish military communications. But there were still deep differences on economic competition and global security threats, the AP reports. The most assuring takeaway from the meeting for Biden was that if either man had a concern, “we should pick up the phone and call one another and we’ll take the call. That’s important progress,” he said in a news conference following the talks. The two leaders spent four hours together at a bucolic Northern California estate—in meetings, a working lunch and a garden stroll—intent on showing the world that while they are global economic competitors they’re not locked in a winner-take-all faceoff.

The US president told Xi: “I think it’s paramount that you and I understand each other clearly, leader-to-leader, with no misconceptions or miscommunications. We have to ensure competition does not veer into conflict.” Some highlights of what came out of the meeting, which on the sidelines of the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference:

  • They reached expected agreements to curb illicit fentanyl production and to reopen military ties, Biden said. Many of the chemicals used to make synthetic fentanyl come from China to cartels that traffic the powerful narcotic into the US, which is facing an overdose crisis.
  • Top military leaders will resume talks, Biden said, an increasingly important move particularly as unsafe or unprofessional incidents between the two nations’ ships and aircraft have spiked.
  • The two leaders had a significant back and forth over Taiwan, with Biden chiding China over its massive military build-up around Taiwan and Xi telling Biden he had no plans to invade the island, according to a US official who spoke on condition of anonymity to detail the private talks. Biden, the official said, declared the US was committed to continuing to help Taiwan defend itself and maintain deterrence against a potential Chinese attack, and also called on China to avoid meddling in the island’s elections next year. The official described the Taiwan portion of the talks as “clear-headed” and “not heated.”
  • Biden also called on Xi to use his influence with Iran to make clear that Tehran, and its proxies, should not take steps that would lead to an expansion of the Israel-Hamas war.
  • According to a statement released by China Central Television, the state broadcaster, Xi was most focused on Taiwan and the US sanctions and restrictions against Chinese products and businesses. Xi said he and Biden also agreed to establish dialogues on artificial intelligence and stressed the urgency for the two countries to cope with the climate crisis, the state broadcaster reported.

Like most of these PR stunts not much was really accomplished….some talk and some agreement, a photo op of leaders shaking hands, the illusion of everything is good, but the major issues will remain unresolved….for now.

Do We Have A Deal?

Tomorrow is the last day for a government deal to stop a shutdown…..so did they come to some sort of agreement?

Why yes they did and thank you for asking…..

Ending the threat of a government shutdown until after the holidays, Congress gave final approval Wednesday night to a temporary government funding package that pushes a confrontation over the federal budget into the new year, the AP reports. The Senate met into the night to pass the bill with an 87-11 tally and send it to President Joe Biden for his signature one day after it passed the House on an overwhelming bipartisan vote. It provides a funding patch into next year, when the House and Senate will be forced to confront—and somehow overcome—their considerable differences over what funding levels should be. In the meantime, the bill removes the threat of a government shutdown days before funding would have expired.

“This year, there will be no government shutdown,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said at a news conference after the bill’s passage. The spending package keeps government funding at current levels for roughly two more months while a long-term package is negotiated. It splits the deadlines for passing full-year appropriations bills into two dates: Jan. 19 for some federal agencies and Feb. 2 for others, creating two deadlines where there will be a risk of a partial government shutdown. “Everybody is really kind of ready to vote and fight another day,” Republican Whip John Thune, the No. 2 Republican, said earlier Wednesday.

The two-step approach was not favored by many in the Senate, though all but one Democrat and 10 Republicans supported it because it ensured the government would not shut down for now. Sen. Patty Murray, the Washington Democrat who chairs the Senate Appropriations Committee, voted for the bill but said it would eventually “double the shutdown risk.” The spending bill also does not include the White House’s nearly $106 billion request for wartime aid for Israel and Ukraine, as well as humanitarian funding for Palestinians and other supplemental requests. Lawmakers are likely to turn their attention more fully to that request after the Thanksgiving holiday in hopes of negotiating a deal.

Damn!  Ukraine and Israel may have to wait for their hand-out.

Of course they, Congress, came to a deal….none of those gutless wonders wanting to be the bah-humbug person for the holidays.  Did you expect anything other than this outcome?

Typical…..kick that damn can down the ever winding road.

Not to worry next year there will be more games to add to the DC chaos.

Trump’s Veterans Day Speech

I apologize for the tardiness of this post….it was suppose to be for Veterans Day but health issues made it take a back seat…..but it was a draft and I need to use it or lose it.

Trump has always made disturbing and hateful speeches but this one is one of his most disturbing….at least for me.

Trump’s speech brings back some memories from our not too distant past….and it should bring back the fear we had then.

In his Veterans Day speech on Saturday, former president Donald Trump used the language of Hitler and Mussolini to villainize and dehumanize non-MAGA people, calling them “vermin” and declaring that they are a greater threat to the United States than Russia, China or North Korea.

In response to Trump’s menacing words, The Lincoln Project issued a video comparing Trump to dictators and Meidas Touch posted a list of nearly identical statements made by Hitler and Trump:

Hitler: I will get rid of the “communist” “vermin”
Trump: I will get rid of the “communist” “vermin”

Hitler: I will take care of the “enemy within”
Trump: I will take care of the “threat from within”

Hitler: Jews and migrants are poisoning Aryan blood
Trump: Migrants are “poisoning the blood of our country”

Hitler: “One people, one realm, one leader”
Trump: “One people, one family, one glorious nation”

The following is a statement from Ammar Moussa, Biden-Harris 2024 spokesperson, in response to Donald Trump’s Veterans Day comments:

“On a weekend when most Americans were honoring our nation’s heroes, Donald Trump parroted the autocratic language of Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini – two dictators many U.S. veterans gave their lives fighting, in order to defeat exactly the kind of unAmerican ideas Trump now champions. Trump doesn’t care about our troops or what they fought for – he thinks they’re losers’ for making the ultimate sacrifice defending our country from forces opposed to democracy and its ideals. Donald Trump thinks he can win by dividing our country. He’s wrong, and he’ll find out just how wrong next November.”

On Truth Social, Trump posted:

“In honor of our great Veterans on Veteran’s Day, we pledge to you that we will root out the Communists, Marxists, Fascists, and Radical Left Thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our Country, lie, steal, and cheat on Elections, and will do anything possible, whether legally or illegally, to destroy America, and the American Dream. The threat from outside forces is far less sinister, dangerous, and grave, than the threat from within. Despite the hatred and anger of the Radical Left Lunatics who want to destroy our Country, we will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Playing To The Camera

I have often stated that I think cameras in Congressional hearings is a bad idea for all it is actors playing to the cameras for some sort of attention.

It seems that a Senate hearing turned into a infantile playground mash-up recently.

This incident occurred during a labor hearing in the Senate when a senator from Oklahoma showed his ass because he was all butt hurt over some Tweets a labor leader had made.

The calling out the leader to a fist fight….this dumbfuck thinks he is Andrew Jackson) and Bernie had to step in and calm things down.

“God knows the American people have enough contempt for Congress. Let’s not make it worse,” Sen. Bernie Sanders said as a Republican senator challenged the president of the Teamsters union to a fight during a hearing Tuesday. When it was his turn to ask questions during the hearing on labor unions, Sen. Markwayne Mullin read out Sean O’Brien’s posts on X calling him a “clown” and a “fraud” and telling him to “quit the tough guy act” after a previous clash in March, CBS News reports. “You want to run your mouth, we can be two consenting adults, we can finish it here,” Mullin said. O’Brien replied, “OK, that’s fine. Perfect.”

You want to do it now? Stand your butt up then,” Mullin said, per the Hill. “You stand your butt up,” O’Brien replied, prompting Mullin, a former mixed martial arts fighter, to rise from his chair in the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee room. Sanders, the committee’s chair, banged his gavel and said, “No, no, no, sit down. Sit down! You’re a United States senator, sit down.” When Mullin tried to suggest a cage fight to benefit a charity, Sanders attempted to get things back on track, telling the senator, “If you have questions on any economic issues, anything that was said, go for it.”

But if you prefer a visual then watch this….

Somebody needs to grow a pair and make these Congress people act like they are a ruling class.  This guy needs to be censured, then muzzled and then thrown off the committee and made to be a political spectator.  If he wears his anger on his sleeve maybe he should resign and work on anger management.

Now why the title?

This goofball ran to FOX News to get his time in the limelight.

After the verbal back-and-forth had ended, that GOP senator, Oklahoma’s Markwayne Mullin, decided he wasn’t done talking about the tussle, taking to Fox News to discuss it with Sean O’Brien. “In Oklahoma, you don’t do this,” Mullin told host Sean Hannity Tuesday evening. “Maybe you run your mouth in New Jersey, I don’t know, I’m not from New Jersey.” Mullin added that he refused to be intimidated by O’Brien, whom he referred to as a “mob boss” who wanted to “bring a mob mentality back to the Teamsters.”

When Hannity noted that he thought any other reaction from Mullin, who’d stood up from his seat as if ready to fight O’Brien, would’ve been “gutless,” Mullin concurred. “What did people want me to do?” Mullin asked, adding that he “used to get paid to fight professionally” (he’s a former MMA fighter). “If I didn’t do that, people in Oklahoma would be pretty upset at me. … I’m supposed to represent Oklahoma values.” Mullin concluded that “we need more of this, to be quite frank—I’m not saying more violence, but we need more people to be taught a lesson.”

The senator had a similar take when he spoke on Fox’s Bottom Line, whose hosts noted how “disrespectful” O’Brien had been with some of his online criticisms directed at Mullin. “I will tell you this for sure, that’s not how we behave in Oklahoma, and I’m an Oklahoman first,” Mullin said. “If you run your mouth, you will be called out on it.” When asked if there’d been anything that people at home couldn’t see during his run-in with O’Brien, Mullin answered, “The fear in his eyes when I stood up. He was scared out of his mind.” O’Brien didn’t directly address their bickering online, but he did like this tweet.

What a chest thumping primate?

If his hackles get up that easily then maybe he should stay off social media (if you knows what it is that is)

But hold on!  There’s more!

Representative Tim Burchett of Tennessee said Mr McCarthy “elbowed” him in the back while he was speaking with a reporter in Congress on Tuesday.

Long-term adversaries of Mr McCarthy’s, the pair led efforts to oust him from the Speaker’s office in October.

Mr McCarthy said the alleged altercation was accidental.

The incident, described by NPR journalist Claudia Grisales who witnessed the interaction, came just hours before Mr McCarthy’s replacement, new House Speaker Mike Johnson, passed his first major legislative test, a full House vote on his plan for avoiding a government shutdown.

“He’s a bully with $17m and a security detail,” Mr Burchett said of the former Republican leader. Mr McCarthy later told reporters the physical contact was accidental.

“If I would hit somebody, they would know I hit them,” the Californian congressman told reporters.

But in his ethics complaint, Mr Gaetz said Mr Burchett described the assault as a “sucker punch” and a “clean shot to the kidney”.

The ultra-conservative argued in a letter that the incident deserved “immediate and swift investigation by the Ethics Committee”.

“This Congress has seen a substantial increase in breaches of decorum unlike anything we have seen since the pre-Civil War era,” he wrote in the complaint.

This incident just fortifies my contempt for Congress and its theatrics….no matter what party stands in the light.

This is what we get when we allow mental midgets the reins of power….squabbling like demented 8 year olds.

I Told You It Would Be Interesting

The game is afoot….that ‘shutdown’ game played every so often.

We have a new Speaker and time for him to show his stuff….and yesterday he did just that.

In what is seen as new House Speaker Mike Johnson’s first major test, he is attempting to pull off a feat that eluded predecessor Kevin McCarthy: Get a bill passed to avoid a government shutdown and keep his job. The House was expected to vote Tuesday on Johnson’s plan to pass a continuing resolution to avert a shutdown on Saturday, reports the Hill. Assuming that happens, the Senate was to move quickly as well.

  • The move: Johnson is using what Politico describes as a “parliamentary gimmick” to get his deal done. He is pushing a two-tiered funding schedule that provides money for some agencies through mid-January and others until early February, per the AP. The “laddered” funding plan has drawn plenty of critics, but it appears to have a chance. Johnson’s continuing resolution does not include steep funding cuts sought by conservatives that would have been deal-breakers to Democrats. It also puts off a decision on defense spending until the latter bracket. “We’re not surrendering, we’re fighting,” said Johnson, “but you have to be wise about choosing the fights.”
  • Needs Democrats: Johnson aims to pass the bill “under suspension of the rules,” a parliamentary maneuver that means he needs the support of two-thirds of the chamber and thus help from Democrats, per the Washington Post. Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries said his party was “carefully evaluating” the proposal. Other Democrats sounded happy that Johnson had avoided spending cuts or “poison pill” additions and voiced their support, per the Hill. In the Senate, Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said he’s on board, as is the White House, reports Politico.
  • Jobis safe? Last month, McCarthy’s stopgap deal (passed under the same fast-track process Johnson is using) got him ousted because it angered the House’s hard-right flank. The House Freedom Caucus doesn’t like Johnson’s approach either, reports the Hill, but nobody appears to be trying to push Johnson out. Instead, the caucus said it is “committed” to working with him. Why the difference? “You have to ask the people that did that, that took out the last speaker—and how they can contort themselves into now supporting this speaker making the same play call,” said GOP Rep. Patrick McHenry, who served as interim speaker after McCarthy. Hard-right Republican Rep. Chip Roy said that while he disagrees with Johnson’s approach, he “commends” him for trying to solve a difficult situation, per the Post.

And then the proof in the pudding….the vote….

A big win for new House Speaker Mike Johnson: A stopgap funding bill to prevent a government shutdown passed easily on Tuesday. The House voted 336-95 vote to approve the two-tier bill, which funds some government agencies until January and others until February, the Washington Post reports. Johnson needed Democratic votes to pass the measure, which was rejected by dozens of hard-right Republicans. The Senate is expected to pass the bill with bipartisan support before the shutdown deadline of midnight Friday, reports the AP.

That part of the saga is a done deal….how will the characters start pulling this way or that?

Will he or won’t he?

Big Man From New Jersey

Right on cue another warmongering politician has made the trip to Israel to report on the war…..and to keep his handlers donating.

This was a useless trip that will do no go.

All of the major Republican candidates for president have expressed support for Israel in its war against Hamas. On Sunday, Chris Christie became the first of them to go there, seeing the destruction left by Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack, including the blood-stained remains of homes, the New York Times reports. “I want the people of Israel to know that there are hundreds of millions of Americans who stand with them, who understand the atrocities that were committed, and why in the future we need to stand absolutely shoulder to shoulder with Israel,” Christie said at the Kfar Aza kibbutz, where he saw burned-out homes still splattered with blood.

The former New Jersey governor had meetings with Israeli leaders scheduled during his one-day visit, per the AP. Christie, who visited Ukraine in August, has made foreign policy a centerpiece of his GOP campaign. Accompanied on Sunday by the speaker of Israel’s parliament, Christie talked about the horror of walking into a home and encountering the smell of death still, a month after the attack. The protesters in the US calling for a cease-fire don’t reflect majority opinion in the nation, he said in his remarks. Christie said that if the demonstrators saw what he just saw, at least some of them would change their minds. “Come to Israel and see it for yourself,” he told them.

You think I am being hard on the Big Man?

After this statement he deserves every bit of criticism…..

Touring the grounds of Kfar Aza with officials on the invitation of the Israeli foreign ministry, Christie surveyed the grim scene of the now-destroyed kibbutz, situated less than 2 miles away from Gaza’s border. Israel Defense Forces said it was one of the first places Hamas militants laid siege to in early October, murdering and maiming dozens of Israeli civilians amid broader attacks that killed more than 1,200 people and resulted in roughly another 240 kidnapped — the status of many still unknown, according to Israeli officials.

As if Israelis are the only people suffering.

What a sanctimonious twat!

This was a typical PR stunt that American politicians play….they visit one side of a conflict and pass judgement on the whole thing without any knowledge whatsoever….not just politicians…..all Americans see and hear one side and pass judgement.

Christie is being an Israeli useful idiot…like most of his ilk.

His empty words are typical from Repubs and conservs that pretend to be liberal….they have lost all touch with empathy and dehumanize in order to pretend to care….they do not.

I was in the anitwar movement for many years and had to deal with mental midgets like this slug many times…..and make no mistake if you only observe one side then you are truly a mental midget.

If I had been one of those protesters I would have had to chime in and say….’when I let some person dictate my conscience then I will join the GOP….until such time piss off!   And while you wait….Bite Me!

The SCOTUS Clown Show

We have yet another clown show in DC….we have the Congress and the parties and now more from SCOTUS.

Just like the rest of the government SCOTUS has become a sh*t show….with all the corruption and favoritism in the court there has been calls for some sort of reform and the judges decided they would clean their chamber up…..which is as hilarious as it could possibly get.

The Supreme Court released a code of conduct for justices Monday to address what it described as a “misunderstanding” about ethics. A statement signed by all nine justices said that the rules and principle are not new, “for the most part,” because the court “has long had the equivalent of common law ethics rules.” “The absence of a Code, however, has led in recent years to the misunderstanding that the Justices of this Court, unlike all other jurists in this country, regard themselves as unrestricted by any ethics rules,” the statement said. “To dispel this misunderstanding, we are issuing this Code, which largely represents a codification of principles that we have long regarded as governing our conduct.”

The code, released amid pressure from Democrats to reform court ethics, contains what the Washington Post describes as “broadly worded” sections on issues including fundraising, political activity, and financial activities including the acceptance of gifts. It does not, however, include any means of enforcement, with compliance left entirely up to the justices themselves, the AP reports. A poll last month found that public confidence in the court was close to an all-time low following multiple reports on ethical issues. Many reports looked at Justice Clarence Thomas’ undisclosed gifts from wealthy donors, but questions were also raised about Justices Samuel Alito and Sonia Sotomayor, the AP notes.

“The justices are clearly reacting to recent public criticism by formally adopting this code,” says CNN Supreme Court analyst Steve Vladeck. “But the key is what’s missing: how are these rules going to be enforced, and by whom? Even the most rigorous ethical and financial reporting requirements won’t mean very much if there’s no one monitoring the justices’ compliance and no pushback when those rules are violated.” The Post notes that a commentary released with the code suggests the court is still trying to resolve some issues. It states that Chief Justice John Roberts has asked court officers “to undertake an examination of best practices, drawing in part on the experience of other federal and state courts.”

Seriously?

No way to enforce the “Code”….I expect these political hacks to try and head off criticism…..but this is just a cruel joke.

Do we really believe that these crooked hacks will abide by the code and police themselves?

Not in my wheelhouse.

Nice try you garden slugs….now try doing something for the country and resign go home to waste away and let the country move on.

Guess Who Wants A Seat At The Table?

Remember 06 January?

If you do you will remember that loonie that dressed like a Native American medicine man, the so-called QAnon Shaman….he was arrested convicted and then let out for whatever reason….well he is back looking for a new job.

The new job he is seeking is as representative of the people…..

Jacob Chansley, the man often seen as the face of the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot and who is perhaps more famously known as “QAnon Shaman,” promised after being released from prison and a halfway house that he would continue his quest for “truth.” Apparently that journey involves the 35-year-old running for Congress in Arizona. The Arizona Republic reports he filed a candidate statement of interest with the Arizona Secretary of State’s office Thursday, though he used the name Jacob Angeli-Chansley, which he has been known to go by. He indicated he’d run as a libertarian. The US Constitution does not prohibit convicted felons from holding federal office, Axios notes.

Chansley is looking to replace Debbie Lesko, a Republican, who is not seeking re-election to the House of Representatives next year. And he’s far from the only one: Per the Republic, the field is “so crowded, he’s not even the only one who was at the attack on the Capitol.” Arizona state Sen. Anthony Kern, who is also running, was also at the Capitol on January 6. Other Republicans running include Arizona House speaker Ben Toma and Trent Franks, who once held the seat but resigned amid controversy regarding sexual harassment and a strange surrogacy offer in 2017.

You may think the House is a silly house of clowns well if this d/bag wins it will only get worse.

Time to lock this ilk away from civil society….for his part and his conviction should negate this tool from ever holding office.   PERIOD!

Let The Game Begin (Again)

It is that time again after kicking the can down the road yet again the clock is closing in on round two….and the silliness begins all over again.

The new speaker is starting the game this week….not much to report right now but I bet it gets slimy quickly.

House Speaker Mike Johnson told his GOP conference on Saturday, with just five workdays left before the deadline, that he’s decided on a plan to avoid a government shutdown. As crunch time approaches, the new speaker said, “I wasn’t the architect of the mess we are in” on the phone call, CNN reports. He pitched a two-step continuing resolution instead of the usual funding extension for the whole government. It’s an untested strategy and an attempt to mollify the hardline Republicans generally opposed to continuing resolutions, per NBC News. The proposal has no budget cuts, and it does not include military aid for Israel or Ukraine.

he first bill would fund military construction, Veterans Affairs, the Energy Department, transportation, and housing, running until Jan. 19. The second step cover the rest of the government until Feb. 2. Senators have criticized such an approach as overly complicated and difficult to enact. And House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries has called the strategy a “right-wing joyride which would crash and burn the economy.” Republican GOP Rep. Chip Roy, one of the members Johnson was trying to appease, tweeted Saturday that he’s opposed to Johnson’s proposal because it lacks major spending cuts, per CNN. A House vote could happen as soon as Tuesday.

This is the opening salvo….but there is nothing about raping social programs so it is a non-starter for the idiots on the Right.

This whole tragedy will become even more messy that it has in the past….which is a shame for this is not governing just an attempt to disrupt and confuse.

I would say it will be interesting but in retrospect that would be fanciful wishing.

I will be watching and as per usual commenting as well as reporting.

Stay tuned and stay informed.
