Prisoner Of The Family

I was going to save this for Women’s History Month in 2013…..but it is such a piece of work I had to do it as soon as possible……

Most of us know how badly women are treated in Saudi Arabia……the whole world is in a rage at the treatment but none of it ever makes it to the royal family…..why?  OIL!  No one wants to bite the hand that feeds them…….

(Newser) – It’s the only country in the world where women can’t drive—and now, if they leave it, their male guardians are electronically notified. When Saudi Arabian women cross the border, said guardians get a text message. The texts arrive even when couples are traveling together, AFP reports. Women can’t leave the country unless their guardians sign them out at an airport or the border.

News of the electronic tracking was spread by women’s driving activist Manal al-Sherif on Twitter, where it sparked a backlash. “Hello Taliban, herewith some tips from the Saudi e-government!” posted one user. “This is technology used to serve backwardness in order to keep women imprisoned,” wrote columnist Badriya al-Bashir, slamming the “state of slavery under which women are held.”

But what we do or say that could help women have a better life in Saudi?

  1. I think there is a version of this that some men in this country would like to implement with their spouses, often referred to as fundamentalist christians. 😉

  2. Lobotero,

I’m not going to justify Larry’s mindless, leftwing hate. I know of no Christian, fundamentalist or otherwise, that would condone this behavior. Such remarks are just the verbal ejaculations of liberals unable to justify their extremist anti-life philosophy.

And I suppose the irony is lost. Seriously, one of the main arguments Christians use against Islam is their treatment of women…

    1. The Christians in Larry’s little whisper are pro-life without exception – and that angers leftists like Larry. If you don’t walk lockstep with leftists, why, you’re a stringent, rigid, ultra rightwing fanatic unable to see the “real world” past the glare of the ICBM’s we Christian Republicans love to launch.

Of course, Larry’s sudden problem with Christians might have something to do with the recent prattle from that shoddy columnist for New York Times, Paul Krugman. He thinks Christians reject everything that appears to contradict their faith. Seriously, he wrote a whole article about it.

      http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/23/opinion/krugman-grand-old-planet.html

And right there you have the modern G.O.P.’s attitude, not just toward biology, but toward everything: If evidence seems to contradict faith, suppress the evidence.

Isn’t that interesting – coming from a leftist that verbally bashes everyone and anything that contradicts leftist dogma? And, if you don’t mind my saying so, that’s what we just seen from Larry. Without actually saying so, Larry is trying to equate pro-life inclinations to the treatment of women in Saudi Arabia.

Another bit from Krugman I found interesting.

Earlier this year, the science writer Chris Mooney published “The Republican Brain,” which was not, as you might think, a partisan screed. It was, instead, a survey of the now-extensive research linking political views to personality types. As Mr. Mooney showed, modern American conservatism is highly correlated with authoritarian inclinations — and authoritarians are strongly inclined to reject any evidence contradicting their prior beliefs.

“The Republican Brain” is ridiculously bias. It assumes that opposition to abortion and same-sex marriage, for instance, are authoritarian. With respect to abortion, it’s no more authoritarian than opposition to murder. With respect to same-sex marriage, it’s nothing more than a belief that if government should be in the business of promoting family units, then government should only promote the healthiest family unit – which is the traditional family unit, as studies have consistently shown.

Lastly, I’d like to create a short list of authoritarian personalities – just for the hell of it. And I think we can all safely agree that these leaders were authoritarian. Ready?

      1. Benito Mussolini (A member of the Italian Socialist Party, Mussolini was heavily involved in leftist politics. Due to disagreement over World War I, Mussolini founded Fascism, a leftist philosophy that was pro-war.)

      2. Adolf Hitler (A National Socialist….And that isn’t just a name. The Nazi’s were very much socialist. Much like Mussolini’s Fascists, the Nazi’s were leftists that favored war.)

      3. Vladimir Lenin (Communist. Self-Explanatory.)

      4. Joseph Stalin (Communist. Self-Explanatory.)

      5. Woodrow WIlson (A “progressive.”)

      6. Franklin Delano Roosevelt (A “progressive.” )

      7. Pol Pot (Communist. Self-Explanatory.)

      8. Mao Zedong (Communist. Self-Explanatory.)

      9. Fidel Castro (Communist. Self-Explanatory.)

      10. Hugo Chavez (Socialist.)

All leftists; all authoritarians. Millions of deaths at their hands.

Liberals don’t fool me; I know their tactics and their games. They take the worst part about themselves and paint their opponent with it. It’s the only way they can win.
