Damn! That is what many in the GOP is spouting trying to fight off the Obama plan for getting health care to the uninsured. Representative after representative, senator after senator has got in front of the cameras and told this version of the misinformation. This is the war cry of the conservatives….that the US has the best health care system in the world…but how accurate is the claim?
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) has ranked the world’s health systems and according to WHO the best ranked system is that of France, with Italy a close second. But wait! Does not the conservatives use Canada and France as examples of a poor health system? Do not hurt yourself….yes, they do.
But where does the US rank with WHO? The US ranks 37th behind Third World countries like Dominica and Costa Rica. Oh yeah, just for your information, Canada ranks 30th. Oops! That is still ahead of the US.
Is there more? You betcha! On health performance, the US ranks 72nd, again according to WHO. Oman ranks number one. The US finished behind such countries as Bosnia and Argentina.
Surely the US leads in something as it pertains to health care. Uh huh, it does. The US leads in expenditures as per capita…..so we are spending more than anyone in the world and we are basically receive nothing in return.
If your opinion is still that the US has the “best” health system in the world, then you most likely have insurance and believe the hype of the health care opposition.
Actual FACTS:
I would like to point out that the last time this report was produced was in 2000. The actual data for that report was collected from 1997, also due to the complexity and validity of the report The World Health Organization has decided to no longer produce this report.
The data you are using to validate your argument is over a decade old and I must say that health care has come a LONG way in 12 years.
My OPINION:
Besides those facts this report actually includes data from public hospitals that are required to give “free” health care regardless if someone has insurance or not. We are already subsidizing health care for anyone without insurance. I think the real question would be to find out the percentage of how many medical bills are billed vs how many actually get paid.
We the people control this country the government does not control the people. A move toward government health care will tip the scale on the peace and security of we the people.

JP…nice of you to drop by and thanx foir the update on the report…..apparently you like the system we have now….that is cool…but what has really improved in those 12 years other than the cost of the system? Are you worried that if the American people get health care from the government that it will somehow will make the US less safe and peaceful? If so, would you please explain that to me…I would like to hear your view……thanx for stopping by…..
CNN just released today that USA is number 38 in the world..shamefull
Hi Daryl and welcome……yes very shameful but it will get NO better until we Americans demand some sort of real change…reform will NOT get us there….
