I believe they derive some of their silliness from a passage in Genesis 6 where it informs us that “there were giants on the earth in those days” (6:4) but to get to that passage they had to bypass this in 6:2 pointing out how “the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they [were] beautiful; and they took wives for themselves … and they bore [children] to them.”
You would think this christian “fact” would knock the wind out of their sails regarding Jesus being the “only begotten son” announced so frequently at many a football game:
“”For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16
