This is number two in a few weeks.
We all remember a few weeks back when some whack-o decided to shoot at Trump…..and it has happened again….this time in Florida while he played golf….
Donald Trump was unharmed Sunday when a man pushed the muzzle of an AK-style rifle through the perimeter of a Florida golf course while the former president played and Secret Service agents opened fire in response. The FBI said Trump was the subject of “what appears to be an attempted assassination.” The gunman dropped the rifle and fled Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach in a vehicle, the AP reports, and law enforcement officials in the next county later said they had a person in custody.
The Republican presidential nominee quickly sent out a fundraising email assuring supporters he was safe. “Before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I am safe and well,” Trump wrote, adding, “I will never surrender!” The Martin County Sheriff’s Office said it believes the person taken into custody, whose identity was not released, is connected to the shooting. He was unarmed when he was stopped on Interstate 95, officials said. The golf course was partially shut down while he played, with Secret Service agents a few holes ahead of him when they spotted the person with weapon, officials said. There are several spots along the perimeter of the property where golfers are visible from the fence line.
Trump was returned safely to Mar-a-Lago, which is several miles from the golf course, on Sunday afternoon. Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham posted on X that Trump was in “good spirits.” It was about two months ago that Trump was shot at a rally in Pennsylvania, which has brought fierce criticism of the Secret Service.
Later that day….the assailant has been identified….
The suspect accused of staging an assassination attempt on Donald Trump Sunday has been identified by a law enforcement official as Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, of Hawaii. Per the New York Times, last year, Routh gave an interview to the newspaper for an article about Americans traveling to Ukraine to volunteer in its war effort after the Russian invasion. At the time, he referred to himself as a “US citizen that’s helping out,” and said he’d traveled there in 2022 and had attempted to recruit Afghan soldiers as fighters as well. He said he’d also met with politicians in Washington in an attempt to bolster support for Ukraine. Routh also has a criminal record, having been arrested eight times for mostly minor offenses, Newsweek reports.
Several politicians ran to a mic and said…”there is no place for violence in America”….(thinking)….apparently these dullards do not watch the news.
And that was the most interesting event of the day….
I Read, I Write, You Know
“lego ergo scribo”
From what I’ve been reading in the news this guy has some serious mental problems that have been going on for a long time.
Top of the morning….he does not seemed like he is wrapped too tight. chuq
Your last point is the important one…Trump’s rhetoric for the past decade has “normalized” violcen as a part of our everyday political discourse…the “talking heads” who race to the cameras to get air time sicken me.
About all the exercise some get is sprinting to the news mic…..chuq
