All That Voter Suppression

The giant news these days is of course and trial that is boring as watching flies mate and the attempts by Red states to suppress voter rights.

And now we can add the death of the UK’s Prince Phillip for endless analysis and reporting.

I have once again given my thoughts on these attempts….https://lobotero.com/2021/03/30/voter-rights-and-suppression/

On cue the Dems are scrambling to try and end all these attempts to suppress…..with HR1 and S1……

Once again I provide links to these bills for those interested…..

The Dems are trying to make the exercise of one’s rights easier (as it should be)…..here are the two bills, one from the House and the other from the Senate….

Click to access BILLS-116hr1pcs.pdf

And from the Senate….

Click to access SIMPLE-SECTION-BY-SECTION_S.-1%20Final.pdf

The Dems should be applauded….right?

After all they are united in their opposition to all this voter suppression attempts by the states GOP…..

Not so fast…..

Democrats have publicly united around a legislative response to Republican efforts to roll back voting access in various states — a bill called the For the People Act.

Known as HR 1 in the House, where it passed in early March with only a single Democratic defection, and S 1 in the Senate, where it’s co-sponsored by every Democrat except West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, it’s a bill that Democrats and allied outside advocates argue is urgently necessary to save the country not only from voter suppression, but also from gerrymandering and the malign influences of big and dark money in politics.

“If our democracy doesn’t work, then we have no hope — no hope — of solving any of our other problems,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said last month. “We will fight and fight and fight to get this done legislatively. Failure is not an option.”

Beneath this public unity, however, some in Democratic and electoral policy circles have misgivings about the bill, however well-intentioned it might be. Jessica Huseman recently wrote at the Daily Beast about a set of objections to one section of the bill from election administrators, who said, under cover of anonymity, that it contains various poorly written and confusing requirements that could be difficult or even impossible to implement. (Democratic aides say they’re working on addressing those concerns.)

https://www.vox.com/22346812/voting-rights-bill-hr1-for-the-people-act

Once again the Dems prove to me that they are a pack of spineless slugs…we need to get rid of the old farts that are costing Americans their rights and privileges.

Then there is the other voter suppression….gerrymandering.

More than half of the states in the U.S. are at “extreme risk” of congressional districts being drawn to unfairly favor one party, according to a new analysis of state redistricting processes by RepresentUs, a non-partisan advocacy group focused on election reform.

Why it matters: The states at risk of gerrymandering — a process the group says can produce “rigged maps” include battlegrounds like Texas, Georgia, Wisconsin and North Carolina.

The big picture: This year’s redistricting process is already more chaotic than usual. And the outcomes could boost one party’s political candidates for a decade.

  • “It’s really just open season in a way that it never has been,” RepresentUs CEO Josh Silver told Axios.
  • That’s due in large part to Supreme Court rulings since the last census that block partisan gerrymandering lawsuits from federal courts and ended requirements for some states to get their maps pre-cleared by the Justice Department.

https://www.axios.com/gerrymandering-states-partisan-redistricting-elections-3ead2a0a-3876-4e85-aaa1-f80efd76daad.html

Make NO mistake….voter suppression is real and no amount of attempting to justify the act will make it right.

They will succeed if we do not bring this affront to our right of vote to a halt.

We need younger representatives and there needs to be term limits so these slugs can go home and “spend time with their families”….

OMG! It’s Gun Control (Again)

First Thought:  NO ONE IS COMING FOR YOUR F*CKING GUNS!

After all the mass shootings in the past month Pres. Biden is coming out with a stand on guns….he will soon issue his thoughts and actions….

President Biden has so far failed to deliver on the gun control promises he made as a candidate, but that could be set to change on Thursday. Sources tell Politico that Biden, who had promised to take action on his first day in office, plans to announce a series of new executive actions on guns. The sources say Biden will be joined at the White House event by members of Congress, Attorney General Merrick Garland, survivors of gun violence, and members of groups that have been pushing for gun control. The actions Biden is expected to announce include a requirement for buyers of home-assembled “ghost guns” to undergo background checks.

Advocates say Biden might also announce new controls on concealed assault-style firearms and a ban on people convicted of domestic violence buying guns. A source tells the AP that Biden is also expected to nominate former federal agent David Chipman as the new director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Thursday. Chipman, an adviser at gun control group Giffords, would be the first permanent ATF director since 2015. Chipman was an ATF agent for 25 years. CNN notes that Biden promised to take action on guns after the mass shooting in Colorado last month, saying, “I don’t need to wait another minute, let alone an hour, to take common sense steps that will save lives in the future.”

I agree that it is beyond time for some commonsense action on guns…..citizens like those overweight in-bred morons in militias do NOT need an assault weapon so they can strut around attempting to intimidate people into their will.

So what did Joe decide was nthe actions to take?

Dealing with frustration that he hasn’t acted on gun violence issues since the recent mass shootings, President Biden announced a series of executive actions Thursday. “Gun violence in this country is an epidemic,” Biden said in the Rose Garden, adding that “the idea that we have so many people dying every single day from gun violence in America is a blemish on our character as a nation.” His proposals include measures to keep guns out of the wrong hands, including restrictions on weapons that can be assembled at home. Known as “ghost guns,” they don’t have serial numbers and so can be difficult to trace. He ordered the Justice Department to draft a regulation for a device that can essentially turn a pistol into a short-barreled rifle, the Washington Post reports. And Biden again called on the House to act on gun control legislation, per USA Today, including restoring the assault weapons ban.

Biden announced David Chipman as his choice for director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which is part of the Justice Department. Chipman could have a tough time clearing the Senate; he’s worked for gun control, and has been an adviser to an organization founded by former US Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot in 2011. The pressure on Biden stems partly from his campaign promise to act against gun violence in his first 100 days in office. That didn’t happen. He said last month that gun violence is among the “long-term problems” that he’ll get to after dealing with the pandemic, infrastructure, and voting rights, per the Washington Post. On Thursday, he passed some of that pressure on to lawmakers. “They’ve offered plenty of thoughts and prayers, members of Congress,” he said, per CNBC. “But they’ve passed not a single new federal law to reduce gun violence.”

Glad to see someone doing something…..but what part of this solves the problem of assault weapons used to kill numerous people?

This is a band-aid for a sucking chest wound.

The ‘epidemic’ will continue!

Let me reiterate…..NO ONE IS COMING FOR YOUR GUNS!

Can you understand that simple statement?

I am sure we will revisit the whole gun debate once again and that there will be a wealth of bullsh*t spread.

It is difficult to have a commonsense debate on guns when commonsense plays no part in that debate.

Is The Era Of Reaganism Ending?

God I do hope so!

I have often stated that I was no fan of Reagan and his policies……to me he was the founder of what is happening in DC these days……he did not want the government to do anything for this country….instead he blamed it for all our ills.

Now look at the disruptive BS coming from the GOP these days…..Reagan was the father of this disruption.

Biden has said that the government needs to act to try and repair all the ills in this society……could this be a new stage of American government?

A common theme is emerging in coverage about President Biden from political observers on the left and right: His plans to dramatically expand the scope of the government—witness his $1.9 trillion COVID package and his $2.3 trillion infrastructure proposal—might just mark the definitive end of the Ronald Reagan era of small-government politics. But that’s assuming, of course, that Biden can get his infrastructure package and other measures through Congress. Examples:

  • Ronald Reagan famously declared that “government is not the solution to our problem” but the problem itself, notes David E. Sanger in an analysis at the New York Times. Biden’s “gamble” is “that the country is ready to dispense with one of the main tenets of the Reagan revolution, and show that for some tasks the government can jump-start the economy more efficiently than market forces.” The president is of the mind that the nation’s “political center of gravity” has been shifted by the pandemic and by a new focus on social and racial inequities.
  • In the New Yorker, Susan Glasser writes that the Biden administration is making a “real historical gamble.” Essentially, they are “advancing the proposition that the politics of the Reagan era—of endless tax cuts embraced by Republicans and of Democrats trying and failing to escape the label of big-government liberals—is finally over.” Lots of comparisons to FDR and LBJ are being tossed around, but Glasser says they should wait until we see what Biden actually gets passed.
  • Biden’s early moves suggest he is “eager and prepared to seize the opportunity to define the end of the Reagan era and shape the one to come,” writes Damon Linker at the Week. Linker thinks a comparison to FDR is more appropriate than to LBJ. The latter president expanded but mainly continued already existing policies. “What Biden is attempting now is something very different—a major leftward change of orientation from the preceding 40 years. That kind of swing hasn’t happened since 1933.”
  • All of this has conservative Matt Lewis pondering some big questions in the Daily Beast. “What if Biden turns out to be the liberal answer to Reagan?” he asks. Unlike Reagan, Biden’s party actually controls both houses of Congress, he notes. “What if Biden, who was often seen as a ‘transitional’ caretaker who was tolerable to get rid of Donald Trump, turns out to be a truly transformational president who brings about a new political consensus? Imagine the irony if Obama turns out to have been the John the Baptist to Joe Biden’s Jesus Christ.”

Yes the Reaganism of old is dead….even the GOP has abandoned most of his policies….the only thing that remains of Reaganism is the racist bigoted rhetoric.

It is beyond time for the government to do its part to uphold that social contract…..that social issue that so many have ignored for too long.

The US needs progress….without it we are a stagnant cesspool of political BS….it has begun and needs to be brought to a halt as quickly as possible.

America’s First Governmental Failure

College Of Political Knowledge

American Government/History

Time for that history lesson most people dread.

These days of the loss of rights it could be said that our Constitution is fail its citizens.

But if it is it would not be the first failure of sorts in our short history.

In the beginning there was no national government here in the colonies at the outbreak of our insurrection against the rule of England.

Before there was a Constitution there was the Articles of Confederation….

After the outbreak of the Revolutionary War, the thirteen American colonies needed a government to replace the British system they were attempting to overthrow. The Founding Fathers’ first attempt at such governance was formed around the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation were first proposed at the Second Continental Congress in 1777 in Philadelphia. They were fully ratified and put into effect in 1781. The reign of the Articles of Confederation was brief. Why did the articles of confederation fail? What were the flaws of the Articles of Confederation and how did it distribute power? Read more to discover why by 1789 the former colonies were under the law of a new governing document—the Constitution of the United States of America.

https://www.usconstitution.net/consttop_arti.html

We do not get much info on this attempt in our schools….why?

It was a failure!

Once they, the Founders, realized their failure they started the whole Constitution thing…..but  do not take my word for it….check the comparisons…..https://www.usconstitution.net/consttop_arti.html

Here is a closer look for you so you can compare for yourself…..

This failure prompted the desire to fix the problems that the Articles created….and the Federalist Papers…..

For Christ sake read the damn papers and get some insight into this nation….(something other than social media bullshit)….

https://guides.loc.gov/federalist-papers/full-text

And then there were those opponents of the Constitution….they were called the “anti-Federalist”…..

One of the most vocal opponents to the Constitution was Patrick Henry….he called the document….“A revolution as radical as that which separated us from Great Britain.”

Read the arguments against the ratification of the Constitution….

http://resources.utulsa.edu/law/classes/rice/Constitutional/AntiFederalist/antifed.htm

I will talk about the Bill of Rights in a later post…..for it was not part of the first draft of the US Constitution.

There is way too much ignorance around the country’s beginnings and the events around the forming of a government…..

Big Tech For Voter Suppression

Do you use Facebook?

We all use Google.

What do you think of all the voter suppression in many states?

How does all these questions relate?

In the first quarter of 2021, Facebook, Google, and several other major American companies donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to a Republican political group that advocates for voter suppression laws around the United States.

Facebook donated $50,000, and Google donated $20,000, according to a new report from Popular Information, alongside a $50,000 donation from AT&T and $100,000+ donations from two major pharmaceutical companies: Eli Lilly and AstraZeneca.

The organization that received those donations — the Republican State Leadership Committee — describes itself as, “the largest national organization focused on electing Republicans to state offices in every corner of the nation.”

The RSLC supports Republican candidates that have supported voter suppression laws, and itself advocates for said laws.

https://www.businessinsider.com/facebook-google-donated-tens-of-thousands-to-republicans-this-year-2021-4

So the very sites that you use to stay in touch and/or get information have spent time and money helping these voter suppression laws by Repubs get passed.

Then there is AstraZeneca…the vaccine hero for the pandemic…….helping save lives all the while working to help suppress the vote….a perfect example of the slim in corporate world.

Facebook and the others were not alone….

Since 2015, AT&T, Comcast, UnitedHealth Group, Walmart, and other big businesses have donated a combined $50 million to state Republican lawmakers who are currently supporting voter suppression bills across the United States—generous political spending at odds with recent corporate efforts to rebrand as defenders of voting rights.

A new report (pdf) released Monday morning by consumer advocacy group Public Citizen found that during the 2020 election cycle alone, U.S. corporations donated $22 million to Republican architects of voter suppression bills that are advancing through state legislatures nationwide.

That Scary Infrastructure Bill

Pres. Biden has introduced a massive infrastructure bill that comes with a price tag of about $2 trillion….I like the idea for it is long been needed to help this nation move forward after being stuck in stagnation for decades.

Believe it or not….even with the huge price tag…..is wildly popular with the American people.

A new survey shows that “every major aspect” of the Democratic president’s plan to rebuild the country has majority support, regardless of party affiliation.

A new poll released Tuesday shows that a large, bipartisan majority of voters in the United States supports President Joe Biden’s proposal to spend $2.25 trillion over eight years to upgrade the nation’s physical and social infrastructure.

The survey (pdf), conducted by Invest in America and Data for Progress, found that voters support Biden’s American Job Plan by a 52 point margin, with 73% of all voters in favor and only 21% opposed.

https://www.commondreams.org/news/2021/04/06/73-us-voters-including-57-republicans-back-bidens-225-trillion-infrastructure-plan

With all that popularity you would think that the representatives would be open to this ambitious plan…..if you do then you would be wrong…..and on many levels.

Even Dems are in opposition to this legislation…..

Two Democratic senators have already voiced concerns about President Joe Biden’s $2 trillion infrastructure plan.

One of them is Sen. Joe Manchin, a moderate Democrat from West Virginia who has already proven himself to be an outsized presence in the razor-thin Democratic majority. He was also a pivotal voice against the inclusion of a $15 minimum wage in the American Rescue Plan.

Now, he’s expressed his concerns with the infrastructure package. In an interview with Talkline, a West Virginia radio show, Manchin said that, “as the bill exists today, it needs to be changed.”

Regarding Biden’s proposed increase of the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%, Manchin indicated that he doesn’t support the 28% figure and stressed that the international average is a few percentage points lower. The rate “should have never been under 25%,” he said. “That’s the worldwide average. And that’s what basically every corporation would have told you was fair.”

https://www.businessinsider.com/senate-democrats-bidens-infrastructure-plan-needs-change-warner-manchin-2021-4

Well we know who pays his salary…..and it is not the people of this country.

To call Manchin a moderate is disingenuous….he is a conservative and he is relishing the fact that he has all the power to kill Dem proposals.

Once again the Dems are their own worst enemies.

Now you know why I call most as spineless slugs.

Infrastructure is definitely needed….but instead war gets all the cash they need to keep waging the obscenity and yet programs that help the people of this country needs to be begged to get anything done.

That alone should tell you who/what is important to these slugs in Congress….and it is NOT YOU!

Can It Happen Again?

This post is about the insurrection of 06 January and the breach of the Capitol building by protesters (rioters).

Was that a once in a lifetime incident?

A recent poll showed that most Americans think it is a distinct possibility….

A broad majority of Americans say that political violence in response to election results is likely in the United States in the next few years, according to a new CNN Poll conducted by SSRS.

Overall, 71% say political violence in response to election results is at least somewhat likely, including 34% who believe it is very likely. The expectation that elections will lead to violence also cuts across party lines (78% of Democrats, 70% of independents and 65% of Republicans describe it as likely).
There is far less partisan agreement over whether American democracy took a blow due to the January 6 attack on the US Capitol. Overall, 62% are concerned that the attack weakened American democracy. But a political divide was evident: Among Democrats (79%) and independents (64%), most say they are concerned that it weakened democracy, but just 36% of Republicans feel the same.

A possibility….and yet Repubs think that a riot that produced numerous injuries and even deaths is over played by the MSM…..

Over half of Republicans and Republican-leaning adults said they believe the Capitol riots are getting too much attention, according to a new Pew Research Center survey on Americans’ views on the January 6 insurrection.

In the poll, 54% of Republicans said they think too much attention is being paid to the riots, while 33% said they think the right amount of attention is paid and 11% thought that too little attention is being paid.

Among Democrats and Democratic-leaning respondents, 40% think too little attention is being paid to the deadly violence and only 8% think the riots are receiving too much attention.

https://www.businessinsider.com/54-percent-republicans-capitol-riots-getting-too-much-attention-survey-2021-3

Seriously?

Is the breach of the Capitol by idiots waving Trump flags is overplayed?

Most Americans think that the insurrectionists should be punished for their part in this riot…..

A new survey out Thursday reveals that a strong majority of Americans think it’s important for federal law enforcement to prosecute the right-wing extremists and Donald Trump supporters who attacked the Capitol on January 6.

While 18% of Americans said it is somewhat important to do so, a wide majority—69%—said it is very important, Pew Research Center found.

Both Democrats and Republicans were clear that prosecution of the rioters is at least somewhat important. Half of Republicans said it is very important, and 29% said it is somewhat important.

Democrats, in contrast, were more likely to say it’s very important. Eight-six percent of Democrats expressed that view, compared to 9% who said it is just somewhat important.

https://www.commondreams.org/news/2021/03/19/poll-large-majority-see-prosecution-insurrection-rioters-very-important

But will they?

Personally I think that the American people need to be reminded every day about this breach……least we forget……we should never forget that our republic was under attack from within by mental midgets that were lead their by a megalomaniac that we had as president.

And I think they should be ALL punished….jail and fines as heavily as can be admissible.

I think it could happen again…..as long as the disruptive element in the Congress keeps spreading lies and egging the overweight in-bred morons on to action.

Why do I think something like the breach could happen again?

Because of the dialog and the fact that many Americans do not think it was an act of violence against the government..

It’s been almost three months to the day since the Capitol attack, and in its wake, former President Trump and his allies, as well as members of the conservative media, have “publicly painted a picture of the day’s events jarringly at odds with reality,” as Reuters puts it. That narrative has apparently been heard and absorbed by a good number of Republicans, as evidenced by the latest Reuters/Ipsos survey. In the online poll of just over 1,000 US adults on March 30-31, about half of Republicans surveyed believe the Jan. 6 riot was mostly nonviolent or caused by activist factions on the left “trying to make Trump look bad.” That contrasts with the 80% of Democrats and 60% of independents who don’t believe the attack was “mostly peaceful.”

Among the GOPers surveyed, 60% also believe Trump’s claim that the 2020 election was “stolen” from him, with that same number of Republicans hoping he’ll make another presidential run in 2024. That latter group conflicts with the 60% of Americans overall who don’t think Trump should run again, per the survey. Still, Trump remains perched at the top of the GOP, with the poll showing that 8 in 10 Republicans continue to see him in a favorable light. “Republicans have their own version of reality,” says Vanderbilt University political science professor John Geer. “It is a huge problem. Democracy requires accountability, and accountability requires evidence.” Insider cites a Pew poll from early March of 12,000 US adults that also queried respondents about the Capitol attack. In that survey, 54% of Republicans thought the riot was being given too much attention, compared with 8% of Democrats; 28% of Americans overall felt that way.

So what do you think?

Is it overplayed by the media?

Should we forgive and forget?

If we forgive what assurances do we have that the morons will behave like true Americans?

Let your thoughts be known.

The Filibuster Debacle

The biggest story in the US Senate is that of the ‘tradition’ known as the filibuster…..well that was until the murder trial sucked all the air out of actual reporting.

Image

As it stands any bill debate to be passed will take 60 Senators for it to pass….I recently took a closer look at the drama around trying to end this archaic ‘tradition’……https://lobotero.com/2021/03/17/kill-the-filibuster/

The attempt to end this waste of valuable time…..

The myth is that it is needed to protect the minority….but that is BS pure and simple…..

Central to the argument for preserving the filibuster are two assertions. One is that it is needed to protect minority rights. Two, the filibuster encourages compromise. The reality is, neither of these claims are true and in fact its repeal may promote both goals better than retaining it.

The filibuster rule is a product of slavery politics, as was true of the electoral college. If the electoral college’s goal was to protect the slave states from being outvoted in presidential selection by the free states, purpose of the filibuster was to do the same. The Senate with its equal representation already gave the South a bonus in representation. But what the filibuster did was to allow one senator the effective ability to shut down the action of the chamber to prevent it from passing legislation hostile to the South. John C. Calhoun, a Senator from South Carolina in the antebellum South, used the tool effectively to block critical legislation. But he is also famous for his role in the nullification crisis where he asserted states had a right to veto or nullify federal legislation. His book A Disquisition on Government, advocated a theory of concurrent majority which would only permit legislation to pass if all classes, interests, groups, or states which had an interest in it supported it.  Effectively, the filibuster went hand-in-hand with his theory of government to support states’ rights and protect a slave holding minority against majority rule.

The Truth about Filibusters: They Don’t Protect Minority Rights, They Don’t Promote Legislating

Let us please stop pretending that this debate is about nothing more than party politics….has nothing to do with the actual use of government…..

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) took to the floor this week to warn he would ensure a “scorched-earth” Senate if Democrats abolished or weakened the filibuster to pass voting rights reform.

His speech earned widespread mockery, and some political experts suggested it was an empty threat, since he has essentially run the Senate this way for years anyway. Others speculated his real fear may be that GOP policies are unpopular, and the filibuster gives them cover to not pass them.

“In a filibuster-free Senate, if one party does things by simple majority, then power will shift eventually, and the other party can just theoretically undo via simple majority the things that the opposition did while in power. The rub is that this would be harder for Republicans to do than Democrats,” wrote Sargent. “Jason Richwine suggests an interesting reason for this: GOP priorities such as concealed-carry reciprocity and defunding Planned Parenthood are not structural or transformative changes, whereas Democratic priorities such as legalizing millions of immigrants or expanding voting rights do constitute such deep changes.”

https://www.rawstory.com/mitch-mcconnell-filibuster-2651135633/

The ‘filibuster’ is one reason that good bills go to the Senate to die…..that needs to change and change now.

Even that Other Guy that was recently president has weighed in on this debate……

Former President Trump continues to raise his public profile, this time in a podcast interview in which he weighs in on DC’s filibuster debate. If Democrats get rid of the filibuster, “it will be catastrophic for the Republican party,” Trump said on the Truth with Lisa Boothe program, per the Hill. Democrats are considering ditching the parliamentary move in order to quickly push through major elements of President Biden’s agenda. With the filibuster in place, Democrats need 60 votes to pass legislation, but they would need only a simple majority in the 100-person chamber without it. Axios notes that Trump in 2018 advocated for the opposite position, telling Senate Republicans (then in control) to kill the filibuster in case Democrats eventually took over, per Politico.

“Look, he’s hanging by a thread right now with respect to the filibuster,” Trump said in the podcast interview about Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. “If they get rid of the filibuster, if they knock it out, it will be catastrophic for the Republican Party.” As of now, a few Democratic holdouts, including West Virginia’s Joe Manchin, oppose eliminating the measure, notes Business Insider. If Democrats do manage to kill the filibuster, Trump had some advice for GOP senators. “There is one thing you can do: not show up,” he said. “If the Republicans don’t show up—in other words, there’s no vote. As I understand it, with 50-50 … the vice presidential vote doesn’t count in that case, so they can’t get that through.”

And there is the perfect reason to fight ending the filibuster…..it would be bad for the GOP…..

Party politics trumps the needs of the people of this country …..every time.

I feel these people are spineless worthless slugs….

You think that is harsh….I was taught to get respect you need to give respect and these lumps of manure do not respect the voter nor the country….so until they give respect they will get none from me.

Some people believe that if we live according to a social contract, we can live morally by our own choice and not because a divine being requires it.

An Education Of Lies

It all began with the 1776 Commission Report.

But wait!

What is the 1776 Commission?

First of all this Commission to revise history had NO historians in the make-up….

The “1776 Report,” released on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, followed Donald Trump’s September announcement to form a commission to refute teachings on systemic racism, critical race theory, and deeper examinations of how slavery has affected American society.

The “crusade against American history is toxic propaganda, ideological poison, that, if not removed, will dissolve the civic bonds that tie us together, will destroy our country,” he said at the time.

The report is a clear rebuke of the “1619 Project,” a Pulitzer Prize-winning report by the New York Times published in 2019. It argues the true founding of America was not in 1776 as the new nation declared its independence from Britain, but in 1619 when the first enslaved people were brought to the shores of the Virginia colonies. The Times’ report, led by reporter Nikole Hannah-Jones, set off a firestorm among conservatives, especially as many educators embraced its overall message, and sought solutions for history lessons that often watered down or ignored parts of American history that grappled directly with oppression and subjugation of people on the basis of race.

If you would like to read this ‘report’ for yourself…..

Now this pack of BS will be taught to the children of South Carolina (of course it will start there)…..

Republican state legislators in South Carolina on Wednesday introduced a bill that would require public school students to receive conservative historical education consistent with the “principles and concepts” of former President Donald Trump’s 1776 Commission Report, a move that ignores the widespread rebuke of historians and progressive activists that accompanied its initial release.

S. 534, the Restore America’s Foundation Act, would mandate at least 30 hours of “instruction in United States foundational history” for the state’s public middle and high school students, WCSC reports.

“We have, in today’s society, a lot of disrespect for the flag, the national anthem, and that sort of thing,” the bill’s sponsor, State Sen. Dwight Loftis—a Greenville Republican—told WCSC. “The knowledge of where we came from and why our forefathers did what they did, I think it’s important that we know.”

However, critics note that Trump’s 1776 Commission—an 18-member panel that had no historians—whitewashes slavery and asserts universities are pushing anti-Americanism by exploring the nation’s roots of oppression, cruelty, exploitation, and greed.

This sounds a lot like the revisionism I got while attending school in Mississippi in the 50s and 60s.

When will we face the truth about our history?

This is nothing but a tool to try and change the way our children view this country…..and the stupid will continue as long as there is NO standardized education.

How far will this ignorance extend?
