Congress Does What It Does Best–Nothing

As this year’s session draws to a close…The Congress does what it always does….waits until it is a certainty that nothing or little gets done.

Like the whole ‘Building America Back’ scam……

Biden’s ambitious economic plan for the nation was just what all politicians do….promise and fail to deliver….but most are not disappointed because they have fail safe that will protect their Centrist BS…..Biden’s fail safe has been Manchin and Sinema in the Senate……

As Biden’s modest economic plan crumbles, brought asunder from within by members of his own party, the fate of the Democrats in the midterm elections seems as firmly sealed as that of poor Fortunato in Poe’s “A Cask of Amontillado.” Yet, I can’t help thinking this collapse was inevitable and was secretly, if not desired at least planned for by Biden. Losing Democratic control of the Congress would leave him in Clinton’s position after the rout of 94–both as the last defense against the Republican Visigoths and able to freely wheel-and-deal unfettered by the demands of his party’s progressive wing. Bill was adept at triangulation politics. But then he was a much nimbler politician than Biden, able to screw over his electoral base and still seduce them into voting for him again two years later.

Joe Manchin: “I’ve never been a liberal in any way, shape, or form, so if progressives want a bigger reconciliation bill elect more liberals…I cannot accept our economy, or basically our society, moving towards an entitlement mentality.”

Of course, Manchin’s never hesitated to demand entitlements for banks and corporations

Biden always knew he had three failsafes against having to fulfill any of the big ticket promises he made during the campaign: the Senate parliamentarian, Sinema and Manchin. He didn’t even need Mitch.

(Jeffrey St. Clair)

I say do nothing because the infratstructure plan is widely popular with the people of this country….

Despite Republican opposition in Congress, majorities of Americans favor every key aspect of President Biden’s infrastructure plan, according to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll.

The survey of 1,649 U.S. adults, which was conducted from April 6 to April 8, found that most (51 percent) say they would support “another big legislative package to invest in America’s infrastructure and combat climate change”; far fewer (30 percent) say they would oppose it.

Both Democrats (80 percent to 8 percent) and independents (48 percent to 36 percent) favor such a package. Republicans are opposed, 58 percent to 22 percent.

(yahoo news)

And yet nothing from the Congress….but what’s new?

Real Progressives have seldom thought the Congress was on their side….the nation is stuck in 1950 and Dems are NO help in moving this country forward…..cash has made the Congress a do-nothing institution which is crippling the country and its people.

And yet the voter turns a blind eye to the BS making them as worthless as tits on a flashlight.

We could change all this stagnation….but sadly we will not.

Next SCOTUS Session

If it’s October then it is time for SCOTUS to set their session docket…..it will be an interesting session since the American people think the court is doing a lousy job…

A new Quinnipiac University poll indicates that just 37% of Americans approve of the way the Supreme Court is handling its job, the lowest rating registered by the polling firm since they began tracking in 2004.

49% of Americans disapproved, while 13% had no opinion. Predictably, views on the nation’s highest court vary based on party affiliation; 47% of Republicans said they approved of how the court was handling its job, while 40% said they disapproved.

(business insider)

The court has been a hot bed of political action….it has become a cabal of political hacks….to that accusation Roberts fired back with the court only concerns are judicial not political….

This from a court that was picked by the slime of the Federalist Society…..the court has been remaking society for decades….the court that gave corporations personhood….but it is not political…..

That said here is the new docket (partial docket)…

The Supreme Court has begun a momentous new term, back in the courtroom after a nearly 19-month absence because of the coronavirus pandemic. Eight of the nine justices took the bench at 10am Monday for the first arguments of the new term. Justice Brett Kavanaugh is participating remotely from his home after testing positive for COVID-19 late last week. Mississippi and Tennessee’s dispute over an underground aquifer is among today’s cases, reports the AP, with the court on Monday affirming a lower court ruling that said District of Columbia residents aren’t entitled to voting representation in the House of Representatives. The AP separately looks at the notable cases that will top this term:

  • Abortion. Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization is a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, the Supreme Court’s major decisions over the last half-century that guarantee a woman’s right to an abortion nationwide. Lower courts blocked Mississippi’s ban on most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, but a more conservative Supreme Court has agreed to review those rulings. Arguments are Dec. 1.
  • Guns. New York State Rifle & Pistol Assn. v. Bruen is a case that could expand gun rights in the US and involves the right to carry a firearm in public. The case involves New York’s restrictive gun-permit law. New York state is among six states that limit who has the right to carry a weapon in public. Arguments are Nov. 3.
  • State secrets. United States v. Zubaydah and FBI v. Fazaga are two cases that involve what the government claims are “state secrets.” The first case the court will hear involves a Guantanamo Bay detainee who a lower court said was tortured in CIA custody. He’s seeking information from two former CIA contractors. Arguments are Oct. 6. The other state secrets case involves a group of Muslim residents of California who allege the FBI targeted them for surveillance because of their religion. Arguments are Nov. 8.
  • Boston Marathon bombing. United States v. Tsarnaev is the Biden administration’s effort to have the death sentence reinstated for Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Arguments are Oct. 13.
  • Campaign finance. Federal Election Commission v. Ted Cruz for Senate is a challenge by Sen. Ted Cruz to rules about limits on repaying a candidate for federal office who loans his or her campaign money. Cruz made a loan to his campaign above the limit of $250,000 expressly to challenge the law. He won in a lower court. Arguments haven’t been scheduled.

Bold Justice: SCOTUS is back in session!

https://www.npr.org/2021/10/04/1041713663/the-supreme-courts-conservatives-cook-up-a-stew-of-abortion-guns-religion-and-mo

But look at the docket….abortions, gun rights, business, religious rights…..sounds political to me.

Whatcha think?

The Usual Antics From Congress

With about 90 calendar days left to this session of Congress the usual games are being played to assure that Biden gets at least something that Dems can run on in 2022.

Update: President Joe Biden on Thursday night signed legislation to keep the government funded through Dec. 3, with just hours to spare before a government shutdown, the AP reports. Also Thursday night, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi delayed a vote on the $1 trillion infrastructure bill. CNN notes Democrats may be waiting until a deal has been struck on the $3.5 trillion Build Back Better Act, for which negotiations will resume Friday. Our original story from Thursday follows:

After much drama, the US will avoid a potentially calamitous government shutdown at midnight. But talks continue on legislation that could decide the fate of President Biden’s agenda. The latest details from a busy day in DC:

  • Shutdown: The Senate voted Thursday afternoon to provide funding to keep the government running through early December, reports the Washington Post. The House quickly followed suit and passed it on to Biden for his signature, per CNBC.
  • 2 other votes: Democrats, meanwhile, were scrambling to pass Biden’s $3.5 trillion plan to overhaul the government, as well as a slimmer $1 trillion public works bill, per the AP. A promised vote on the latter faltered amid stalled talks on the bigger package.

Pelosi: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi assembled her leadership team for a morning meeting and emerged determined to push ahead, strike a deal with Biden over his bigger $3.5 trillion effort, and avoid what would be a stunning setback if voting on the public works bill failed or had to be scrapped. Democrats are deeply at odds as progressive lawmakers threaten to withhold votes on the roads-and-bridges infrastructure bill they view as insufficient unless it is paired with Biden’s broader vision. In the narrowly controlled House, Pelosi has no votes to spare.

  • Manchin’s number: Attention is focused on Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, centrist Democrats who view Biden’s plan as too big but have infuriated colleagues by not making any counter-proposals public. Manchin called an impromptu press conference Thursday outside the Capitol, insisting he has been clear from the start—his topline is $1.5 trillion. “I’m willing to sit down and work on the $1.5,” Manchin told reporters.
  • Manchin, II: Politico reports that Manchin proposed the lower figure in a document sent to Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer in late July. Both senators signed the document. “Leader Schumer never agreed to any of the conditions Sen. Manchin laid out,” says a Schumer spokesperson. “He merely acknowledged where Sen. Manchin was on the subject at the time.”

Manchin and the other one are doing their part to make Biden and Dems look like buffoons…..which is not too hard since most are just that without any help.

This is  pathetic session….Dems work against their own agenda….those centrist toads are killing progress (as usual)…..

The hurdles that President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better agenda is facing come not only from Republicans, but also from centrist Blue Dog Democrats such as Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona. MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan railed against Manchin and Sinema during a September 26 monologue, arguing they are preventing Americans from having things that residents of other developed countries take for granted — including universal health care and policies that address the dangers of climate change.

The progressive firebrand told viewers, “The main story here that should bother all of us is that the American people are suffering for no good reason. They’re being gaslighted. Why is it that the U.S. is the only industrialized country that cannot guarantee health care or childcare or family leave for its citizens?”

Biden agenda will be watered down so that nothing is changing….in other words …..”same as it ever was”

Insurrection Update #16

More and more information is coming out about the breach of the Capitol on 06 January….the picture s becoming clear on who did what when and why…..

Ever heard of the site Epik?

The Washington Post reported on the hack of Epik, a domain hosting website that has become synonymous with far-right groups and causes.

“Online records show those sites have included 8chan, which was dropped by its providers after hosting the manifesto of a gunman who killed 51 Muslims in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 2019; Gab, which was dropped for hosting the antisemitic rants of a gunman who killed 11 people in a Pittsburgh synagogue in 2018; and Parler, which was dropped due to lax moderation related to the Jan. 6 Capitol attack,” reported Drew Harwell, Craig Timberg, and Hannah Allam.

According to the report, experts are combing through the data of the leak, which came courtesy of the hacker group Anonymous and includes everything from client names to home addresses to the account credential of far-right site administrators.

https://www.rawstory.com/epik-hack-far-right/

The slow leak of information is beginning to run more rapid…..

The fresh evidence also shows what many people in Trump’s inner circle knew in January: His case to stay in power was meritless, but an unchained commander in chief chose to listen to acolytes pushing wild conspiracies. Some of those who knew the truth refused to speak up, even as American democracy came under attack.
Just this week, it’s been revealed that:
  • Trump had blueprints that the Republicans tried to use to prevent Congress from certifying President Joe Biden’s clear and genuine victory, in the form of a memo that laid out a plan for then-Vice President Mike Pence to thwart Biden’s Electoral College triumph. The memo was reported in the new book “Peril,” by Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Robert Costa, and was later obtained by CNN.
  • Trump’s own campaign staff knew that outlandish claims of fraud made by the then-President’s lawyers were utterly false, according to a report in The New York Times. But they did nothing to stop his dangerous allegations.
  • Trump sent a letter full of false information to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, asking him to start the process of decertifying the 2020 election.
  • “Peril” also contains a passage that shows Trump cared little for truth, what voters decided in November or bedrock constitutional values — but agonized about his reputation and mused that accepting defeat would brand him as one of history’s losers.

This growing paper trail, which is likely to be of intense interest to the House select committee investigating the January 6 insurrection, appears to prove Trump’s intent to stay in power illegally. The record is beginning to add up to an extraordinary indictment of the ex-President’s abuses of power and one of the darkest moments in US history.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/22/politics/donald-trump-new-revelations/index.html

The Trumpite idiots failed in their Justice For J6…..it did not just fail ut was a complete bust….

According to Jared Holt, who researches domestic extremism for the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab, right-wing extremists like those who stormed the Capitol building were “scared shitless” of creating another event like January 6 on Saturday — to the point that several conservative leaders, including Trump, warned their followers to stay away from the rally, claiming it was a trap.

Ultimately, only about 100 people showed up, according to an estimate by the Washingtonian’s Andrew Beaujon — far fewer than some pre-rally predictions — and the protesters were at times outnumbered by members of the media.

they

A new legal tactic for the breach….the certification of an election is not a legal proceeding…..

Many of the perpetrators of the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol have been charged with the federal crime of “obstructing an official proceeding” of Congress because their attack was intended to disrupt the counting of electors to confirm the victory of President Joe Biden.

But according to the Seattle Times, the attorney for one of the attackers, Seattle-area Proud Boy Ethan Nordean, is trying a novel approach by questioning whether the counting of electors really counts as an “official proceeding.”

“During a nearly two-hour hearing Tuesday before the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, a lawyer for Ethan Nordean argued to Judge Timothy J. Kelly that government prosecutors have misapplied criminal charges against Nordean and three co-defendants under a part of federal criminal law aimed to protect ‘official proceedings’ from interference,” reported Lewis Kamb. “Congress’s act to certify Electoral College votes from a presidential election doesn’t qualify as an ‘official proceeding,’ attorney Nicholas Smith argued, because a bevy of case law has defined such proceedings as events involving an investigative purpose or truth-finding inquiry.”

Hackers have broken news……

People aligned with extremist websites have started to feel the repercussions since a major hack revealed their identities. On the other side, for those who work against extremism and hate groups, the data dump is a boon. The information was published by Anonymous, a hacking group, after an attack on Epik, an internet services company used heavily by the far right, the Washington Post reports. In a filing about the breach with the government of Maine, Epik said the financial and account security information of 110,000 people was exposed. A spokesperson said the hack was “an egregious violation against our users.”

A researcher with the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism said it usually takes much time to learn about far-right sites and the names behind them, as well as where the money comes from that keeps them going. But the Epik reveal “is like somebody has just handed you all the detective work,” Heidi Beirich said, adding “as the data is analyzed and looked at more deeply, we’re going to see this ecosystem in a way that was simply not possible before.” The internet services company has been “at the center of so many of the extremist websites and organizations that people like me study,” Beirich said.

Epik has served QAnon theorists, Proud Boys, and other groups that supported the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, per the Post. Sites kicked off mainstream platforms have found a home at Epik, per TechCrunch, as has One America News. An Epik spokesman said the company “offers its services to everyone” and has hosted hundreds of thousands of domains, some of which are bound to be offensive. Still, right-wing domains account for less than 1% of the company’s users, the spokesperson said. Epik says it does not censor users.

The users whose names were uncovered in the Anonymous data dump are starting to feel consequences. Joshua Alayon, a Florida real estate agent, lost his job because invoices released indicated he had paid for domain names such as racisminc.com, whitesencyclopedia.com, christiansagainstisrael.com, and theholocaustisfake.com. The owner of the brokerage where Alayon worked said he doesn’t want “to be involved with anyone with thoughts or motives like that.” A co-founder of Anonymous said hackers acted because Epik takes in extremists. “Everyone is tired of hate,” Aubrey “Kirtaner” Cottle said. “There hasn’t been enough pushback.”

One Last ‘Booster’ Thing

I have written several times about the ‘booster’ for Covid….again talk with your medical professional for what is best for you and your family.

When the news first broke about a ‘booster’ my first question was will it be free as well……then I read a story about Pharma and the booster…..

Billions more in profits are at stake for some vaccine makers as the U.S. moves toward dispensing COVID-19 booster shots to shore up Americans’ protection against the virus. How much the manufacturers stand to gain depends on how big the rollout proves to be. US health officials late on Thursday endorsed booster shots of the Pfizer vaccine for all Americans 65 and older—along with tens of millions of younger people who are at higher risk from the coronavirus because of health conditions or their jobs, per the AP. Officials described the move as a first step. Boosters will likely be offered even more broadly in the coming weeks or months, including boosters of vaccines made by Moderna and Johnson & Johnson. That, plus continued growth in initial vaccinations, could mean a huge gain in sales and profits for Pfizer and Moderna in particular. “The opportunity quite frankly is reflective of the billions of people around the world who would need a vaccination and a boost,” Jefferies analyst Michael Yee said.

Wall Street is taking notice. The average forecast among analysts for Moderna’s 2022 revenue has jumped 35% since President Joe Biden laid out his booster plan in mid-August. Most of the vaccinations so far in the U.S. have come from Pfizer, which developed its shot with Germany’s BioNTech, and Moderna. They have inoculated about 99 million and 68 million people, respectively. Johnson & Johnson is third with about 14 million people. No one knows yet how many people will get the extra shots. But Morningstar analyst Karen Andersen expects boosters alone to bring in about $26 billion in global sales next year for Pfizer and BioNTech and around $14 billion for Moderna if they are endorsed for nearly all Americans. Those companies also may gain business from people who got other vaccines initially. In Britain, which plans to offer boosters to everyone over 50 and other vulnerable people, an expert panel has recommended that Pfizer’s shot be the primary choice, with Moderna as the alternative.

Andersen expects Moderna, which has no other products on the market, to generate a roughly $13 billion profit next year from all COVID-19 vaccine sales if boosters are broadly authorized. Potential vaccine profits are harder to estimate for Pfizer, but company executives have said they expect their pre-tax adjusted profit margin from the vaccine to be in the “high 20s” as a percentage of revenue. That would translate to a profit of around $7 billion next year just from boosters, based on Andersen’s sales prediction. J&J and Europe’s AstraZeneca have said they don’t intend to profit from their COVID-19 vaccines during the pandemic. For Pfizer and Moderna, the boosters could be more profitable than the original doses because they won’t come with the research and development costs the companies incurred to get the vaccines on the market in the first place.

WBB Securities CEO Steve Brozak said the booster shots will represent “almost pure profit” compared with the initial doses. Drugmakers aren’t the only businesses that could see a windfall from delivering boosters. Drugstore chains CVS Health and Walgreens could bring in more than $800 million each in revenue, according to Jeff Jonas, a portfolio manager with Gabelli Funds. Jonas noted that the drugstores may not face competition from mass vaccination clinics this time around, and the chains are diligent about collecting customer contact information. That makes it easy to invite people back for boosters.

All the news about the boosters leads me to believe that corporate media is hawking this as a necessity….after all profit is more important than health care.

Or is the booster thing being hawked by Biden admin as some sort of payback to Pharma for their giving the ‘jabs’ for free to the population?

Any thoughts?

Is Biden Unimpressive?

This depends on whom you ask.

In my opinion is very unimpressive.

During the campaign of 2020 we were promised so much and the Dems have delivered so little…..of course it is not all their fault.

Oh they have had some marvelous ideas but that is as far as it goes for the Senate is a wall for any progress.

The Biden promises are shrinking in action….

Joe Biden’s poll numbers are going south. An average of polls at FiveThirtyEight shows that more people disapprove (49%) of him than approve (45%), a sharp reversal from the start of his presidency, when 53% approved and 36% disapproved. The decline has largely occurred over the last two months, notes the Pew Research Center, thanks to big factors such as the chaotic Afghanistan pullout, rising COVID cases, and trouble with his domestic agenda in Congress. Related coverage:

  • The problem: At the Cook Political Report, Amy Walter writes that the issue is a serious one for Biden and Democrats because “these early mistakes go directly to the very rationale of his presidency; that it would be low drama and high competence.” She adds that it’s not unusual for a first-term president to go through a rough patch, and the big question is whether Biden can pull out of it. However, the longer he’s in the White House, the more expectations will rise, and it won’t be enough for Democrats to rely on the he’s-not-Trump argument.
  • In context: Biden’s critics on the right already are pronouncing him a failure, and Susan B. Glasser at the New Yorker finds this just as ridiculous as when progressives anointed him the second coming of FDR in the spring. “It was too soon then to nominate him to a place on Mount Rushmore; it is too soon now to consign him to the ash heap of history,” she writes. “What we might be seeing, instead, is a bit of a return to normalcy in American politics—the kind of normalcy in which a President’s job-approval rating goes up or down depending on how people think he is actually doing.”
  • From the right: At the National Review, Jim Geraghty ticks off Biden’s troubles, including those mentioned above, plus border issues and friction with France and China. “Biden, Antony Blinken, and the rest of the president’s team spent a lot of time patting themselves on the back and declaring that ‘America is back!’ after taking office,” he writes. “But as autumn arrives, they look naïve, unprepared, slow-footed, and in over their heads. A flailing president is a failing president.”
  • From the right, II: Matt Lewis is even more scathing in the Daily Beast. “It’s starting to feel like the wheels are coming off for Joe Biden at the job he’s been dreaming of since he first arrived in the Senate in 1973,” he writes. This applies to the both the domestic and global fronts. Lewis notes that he has previously criticized former President Trump’s “childish approach to governing … but it turns out that dunking on him and signifying responsibility without actually achieving better results isn’t nearly enough.”
  • Unwanted comparison: Meanwhile, two separate pieces in the New York Times this week make a similar point that Democrats won’t like—that in regard to Afghanistan and the border, Biden appears to be borrowing from the Trump playbook. One is a news analysis by Michael D. Shear, Natalie Kitroeff, Zolan Kanno-Youngs, and Eileen Sullivan, and the second is a column by Frank Bruni. “Biden is a far cry from Trump,” writes Bruni. “Hallelujah. But that doesn’t mean that he’s untouched by Trump.”

The big ideas of police reform (dead), voting rights (pending but doomed), infrastructure (pending but not looking good), immigration (dead), ending the filibuster (a joke without a laugh line) and so many more and the Congress is waffling (as usual)……

With time left the Dems have an impressive yet chaotic time before the end of session…

Democrats will start one of the most chaotic legislative sprints in recent memory. With a potential government shutdown looming, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said Saturday that three key bills, including President Joe Biden’s $3.5 trillion reconciliation package, “must pass” in the coming week.

That timeline means the next week could be make or break for Biden’s legislative agenda, but all three bills face a complicated road ahead in Congress.

“The next few days will be a time of intensity,” Pelosi said in a letter to her caucus on Saturday. “We sent a CR to the Senate and are awaiting their action to avoid a shutdown. We must pass the BIF to avoid the expiration of the surface transportation funding on September 30. And we must stay on schedule to pass the reconciliation bill so that we can Build Back Better.”

https://www.vox.com/2021/9/26/22694549/congress-reconciliation-infrastructure-debt-ceiling-explained

With 90 days left in the session of Congress it looks dismal for any progress….and 2022 an election year will be a do nothing session for the House will be at home with their knee pads on begging for money and lying to the voter to gain their place in Congress once again.

Biden has not been a disappointment for me for I did not think he would be that effective because he is a centrist that will do little to move this country forward….all in the name of bi-partisanship (a word that means little to this country).

Any thoughts?

Is There ‘Media Bias’?

“If it bleeds it leads”

The 24 hour news cycle has given us the new mantra.

Look at today’s news….where is all that concern for Afghanistan?  MSM has a new story they can beat to death…..

So yes there is a ‘media bias’.

The mainstream media has historically tried to balance left and right in its political coverage, and present what it views as a reasonable center.

That may sound good in theory. But the old politics no longer exists and the former labels, “left” versus “right,” are outdated. Today it’s democracy versus authoritarianism, voting rights versus white supremacy.

There’s no reasonable center between these positions, no justifiable compromise. Equating them is misleading and dangerous.

You hear the mainstream media say, for example, that certain “Republican and Democratic lawmakers are emerging as troublemakers within their parties.”

These reports equate Republican lawmakers who are actively promoting Trump’s big lie that the 2020 election was stolen with Democratic lawmakers who are fighting to extend health care and other programs to help people.

https://www.salon.com/2021/08/13/the-media-bias-no-one-talks-about-democracy-vs-authoritarianism_partner/

We as consumer of news need to stop focusing on the manure spread daily by MSM and start focusing on the nation and the direction both parties are leading it.

I have been writing about the pathetic attempt at the news by the MSM….

The Decline and Fall of the ‘Mainstream’ Media

The Media Is Pathetic!

There is so much more I have written….

The more one watches or reads the news the more one sees that it is nothing more than a ratings race…..true news can only be found by searching for it….and that is something in these days of instant gratification the people are unwilling to do…search.

Closing Thought–24Sep21

For months we have been hearing all about the silliness with the Arizona vote count….the Trumpie toadies have been in search of anything they can point to as voter fraud…..the well the icing on the cake as the s-called ‘audit’ draws to a close…..

A widely criticized partisan audit of the 2020 election results in Arizona’s Maricopa County cost around $6 million—which, according to a draft report detailing its findings, works out to almost $60,000 for every extra vote it found for President Biden. The Arizona Republic reports that rather than finding the election was “stolen” from Donald Trump, as the former president and his supporters claimed, the hand count confirmed Biden’s win in the county and extended his narrow lead. It found that Biden received 99 more votes than the county reported and Trump received 261 fewer votes than the official tally, per CNN.

The findings are due to be presented to the GOP-led Arizona Senate Friday. Randy Pullen, a spokesman for the election review, tells KJZZ that the leaked copy of the findings is “not the final report, but it’s close.” “Was there massive fraud or anything? It doesn’t look like it,” Pullen says. He adds, however, that other reports to be presented Friday will show evidence of worrying “anomalies” in voting records. The report describes the audit results as “necessarily inconclusive.” The audit was mainly funded by pro-Trump groups.

Maricopa County Board of Supervisors chairman Jack Sellers, a Republican, says the draft report shows the county ran an accurate election. “This means the tabulation equipment counted the ballots as they were designed to do, and the results reflect the will of the voters,” he says. “That should be the end of the story. Everything else is just noise.” The audit was conducted by Florida-based cybersecurity company Cyber Ninjas, which has no previous election experience. Its CEO, Doug Logan, has expressed support for Trump’s claims the election was “rigged” against him.

I could not stop laugh at this news report….all their hard work to try and prove voter fraud and in the end Biden gets 99 more votes.

How much did the people of Arizona pay for Biden’s 99 new votes?

You gotta admit that this was the best story of the week…..you just cannot make this stuff up…..

This does not bode well for the future audits that the Trumpies will try and use to find more votes for their idol…..that may give Biden even more votes.

****Pause here for more laughter…..****

The Sub “Buga-Boo”

Since taking office Pres. Biden (I did not vote for him or the other guy) there have been a couple of major missteps in American foreign policy…..first misstep was the withdrawal from Afghanistan…..the the next was the nuclear sub for Australia….to which France got a bad case of ‘butt hurt’…..

As most people that visit here know that I am a foreign policy fanatic…..so when visiting a fiend’s blog, Doug at The Independent Knight, I read his post on the mash-up between France’s Macron and Biden over a sub for Australia…..

(Visit Doug’s site when you can….very interesting reading)

For those that did not know the extent of the mash-up with France…..here is a bit of background for clarity….

So after all the hoopla Biden has come to the conclusion that he may have pissed in his chili….and now he is trying to make nice….
The US and France moved toward making up Wednesday, after Presidents Biden and Emmanuel Macron spoke on the phone, but the nations suggested they have a lot of work ahead to rebuild shattered trust. It was the first time the two had spoken since Biden announced a new security alliance with the UK and Australia and France expressed its anger at being surprised by the news and left out of the deal. In the language of diplomacy, ABC reports, the US and France issued a joint statement after the phone call saying, “The two leaders agreed that the situation would have benefited from open consultations among allies on matters of strategic interest to France and our European partners.”

The statement added, “President Biden conveyed his ongoing commitment in that regard.” France had pointed out last week that that sort of consultation is supposed to be routine among allies. French officials had also warned that their anger would not be fleeting, and all indications are that the rift is not yet healed. Biden and Macron plan to meet in Europe at the end of next month, possibly around the G20 summit in Italy. But they might also meet somewhere else, per the New York Times, to show they’re working on this. France has recalled its ambassador to the US but said Wednesday that Philippe Étienne will return to Washington next week.

He’ll be busy, officials from both administrations said, starting “intensive work with senior U.S, officials.” The presidents will lead the way themselves through “a process of in-depth consultations, aimed at creating the conditions for ensuring confidence.” The official record shows no mention of an apology, but a French official said “consultations that should have taken place did not,” which he said “poses a question of confidence whose consequences must be reviewed together.” The chastening seems to indicate both sides consider the matter important, per CNN. Macron is up for reelection in about six months.

Jean-Yves Le Drian, France’s foreign minister, has said the Biden administration’s move reminded him of something former President Trump might do, and he wasn’t alone on that point. A Le Monde editorial said, “For any who still doubted it, the Biden administration is no different from the Trump administration on this point: The United States comes first.” Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said Tuesday that he planned to avoid Macron at the UN this week, and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson mocked France’s concern in two languages. “I just think it’s time for some of my dearest friends around the world to prenez un grip about this and donnez moi un break,” Johnson said in Washington.

I see Macron got over being ‘butt hurt’…..Apparently this was just a news making event for Macron…..a political ploy since his numbers are not as good as he wants.

As a foreign policy wonk I am not very impressed with the Biden admin…..they are still spread weapons around the world like peanut butter…humanitarian crises are still running rampant…..and the beginnings of a new Cold War….nothing very impressive whatsoever.

Biden has learned nothing from his many decades in government employ…he is nothing but another warmonger in peace-nik clothing.

Creeping Neo-Fascism

I remember the days when the country was warned about the ‘creeping socialism’ of the American Left….the ‘creeping’ was more like an anemic crawl……but now this country has a new ‘creeper’ it should be more worried about……that of ‘creeping Neo-fascism’…..

Do not get me wrong I do not like labeling those as ‘fascists’ just like I do not appreciate the label ‘socialist’….but the GOP seems to be heading in a direction we have seen before.

The way to fight this trend is to fight the neo-liberal trend….

Neoliberalism can be defined as a political approach that “seeks to transfer the control of economic factors from the public sector to the private sector” — and strives to “place limits on government spending, government regulation, and public ownership.” Neoliberalism can be described more candidly as vast, systemic, nonstop plunder.

The plunder is enmeshed in politics. In the real world, economic power is political power. And privatizing political power amounts to undermining democracy.

After four decades of neoliberal momentum, we can see the wreckage all around us: the cumulative effects, destroying uncounted human lives deprived of adequate healthcare, education, housing, economic security and existence free of predatory monetizing. While Republican politicians usually led the wrecking crews, their Democratic counterparts often served as enablers or initiated their own razing projects.

As its policies gradually degrade the standard of living and quality of life for most people, neoliberalism provides a poisonous fuel for right-wing propaganda and demagoguery. Although corporate media outlets routinely assert that “moderate” Democrats are best positioned to block the right’s advances, the corporate-oriented policies of those Democrats — including trade deals, deregulation and privatization — have aided rather than impeded far-right faux populism

In 2021, the Best Way to Fight Neofascist Republicans is to Fight Neoliberal Democrats

Your vote does count…just as much as it should….but we need to start somewhere…..

Do your part to protect this country and its people.

Do not ignore the trends……So help the nation rid ourselves to this slow moving cancer.
