Was I Wrong To Question?

I have been criticized for not being more supportive of the efforts by the world to help Ukraine through this time of hardship.

For the media I have stated that most of the ‘reports’ have not been verified by the different outlets….but it is reported as fact….I have a problem with that……

But some of these reports are propaganda plain and simple…..and I am not alone in my skepticism….

NBC News has a new report out citing multiple anonymous US officials, humorously titled “In a break with the past, U.S. is using intel to fight an info war with Russia, even when the intel isn’t rock solid“.

The officials say the Biden administration has been rapidly pushing out “intelligence” about Russia’s plans in Ukraine that is “low-confidence” or “based more on analysis than hard evidence”, or even just plain false, in order to fight an information war against Putin.

The report says that toward this end the US government has deliberately circulated false or poorly evidenced claims about impending chemical weapons attacks, about Russian plans to orchestrate a false flag attack in the Donbass to justify an invasion, about Putin’s advisors misinforming him, and about Russia seeking arms supplies from China.

So they lied. They may hold that they lied for a noble reason, but they lied. They knowingly circulated information they had no reason to believe was true, and that lie was amplified by all the most influential media outlets in the western world.

Another example of the Biden administration releasing a false narrative as part of its “information war”:

The media uses pundits that are working for the arms industry….just how impartial will those slugs be?

U.S. corporate media outlets are saturated with pundits – many of them ex-military or national security officials – who take to the airwaves to promote hawkish policies and actions in Ukraine and elsewhere without disclosing their own ties to the arms industry, according to a report published Tuesday.

Analyzing punditry across a range of outlets including CNN, MSNBC, and NBC News, Aditi Ramaswami and Andrew Perez at The Lever found that the networks failed to inform viewers that many of their expert guests who called for supplying Ukraine with more weapons to defend against Russia’s invasion were currently employed by the weapons industry or its advocates.

“I think it’s awesome you can be a consultant for a company that manufactures certain missiles and go on NBC or CNN and say how important it is that we get more of those missiles shipped out, with no one saying [by the way], this guy works for the missile company,” Perez sardonically quipped in a tweet promoting the report.

New Reporting Details Corporate Media’s War Industry Pundits

You are being fed propaganda that will insure that the arms industry gets its way in this world…..public opinion echoes the propaganda.

Look at the nuke thing….then the chem thing and now back to the nuke thing……all there is is words nothing to point to the actual use.

“War is good business” and the media helps it be uber profitable.

The MSM is creating the stories…..watch whatever network you like and the news stories are all the same….very little variation

Please look behind the BS and get to the real story….not the fake crap being passed off as expert impartial analysis.

  1. Thank you for posting this. I don’t fhink you are wrong to question. For awhile, I’ve been seeing the propoganda that many (even most) people blindly accept. When I mention it, people can be downright nasty. It’s quite refreshing when someone else tentatively, or not so tentatively speaks out. Hopefully, more people start to think. Thanks again.

  2. No you are never wrong to question anything. Questioning things is the basis for good investigative journalism. You are right to question whatever you wish to question but my question is, “What do you expect the common ordinary street punk like myself and others like me are going to do about any of it except maybe talk mindlessly about it over a beer or something. If Biden is your problem, take heart because in 2024 you might get a little more of Trumpism. Would that be better? Am I wrong to question?

    1. Congress is the problem….there is much that can be done but most will not bother because that would take commitment and Americans are short on commitment….if they truly wanted to do something then they would find a way…..if they can watch a doctor pop pimples then they should be able to find something that they can do. chuq

      1. Well then let’s get rid of the damned congress and replace it with a duma or something. Problem solved.

  3. We live in a country where our Constitution requires us to question our government. But that should be a norm.. not a political position. Less about a gotcha against government to promote a personal bias, but more about a kind of transparency to assure a public version of quality control. The difficulty is that with nearly 350 million Americans there is also 350 million different ideas of what “quality government” should be.
Regarding the link to the Aussie article, well, being a moderate in my views generally, I can’t say I apply a lot of credibility to an Australian socialist. Regarding that “revelation” from that NBC report… um… I didn’t see that as any great revelation of government “wrongdoing”.. or intentional lies to deceive at all. It was a report of an intel strategy.. a kind of psy-ops.. meant to confuse and pressure Putin along other avenues. The idea that the “threat” of an impending invasion was a lie intended to deceive the public.. or that the idea that using nukes was an impending threat.. or the use of chemical gas… was all about some M-IC wanting money over the bodies of dead humans, to me is a bit of a stretch, I see no direct line. The moment those “threats” were brought out the first thing I thought of was that the intel community was reporting on threats rather uncharacteristic of the intel people as normally they fear revealing sources and methods. I saw “a strategy” in play while I myself couldn’t identify what the intent of the strategy was. It certainly wasn’t all about making weapons profits.
That NBC article also reported that the disinformation strategy being applied against Putin had some measure of success over what it was intended to do. I don’t see at all how any of that disinformation meant for Putin could be interpreted as “government trying to justify a war”.
But… that’s just me… more of an idealist rather than cynic. 🙂

    1. You do not see one-sided reporting? Sorry all I see is reports that re justifying this war….yes Russia is being a prick but there are always two sides to a story and all we get is the chest thumping side. chuq

      1. You mean there’s another side to a large bully country invading a lesser country and wholesale bombarding it back to the Stone Age and killing it’s people? I think if you want the other side to the story you might check out Russian state television.

I know your point, chuq, because you think conspiracy is everywhere. But if you have a source that reports the “other side” I will check it out.

      2. I think the old adage “the first casualty of war is the truth….if that makes me a conspiracist then so be it.

Doug I post opposing narratives one coming up tomorrow…..US state TV is no different than Russia state TV…..they sell a narrative (propaganda)…..chuq

  4. One of the most blatant lies so far was the report of the ‘Chemical weapons attack’ that didn’t happen. Yet another ‘news report’ fed to the west by the Far-Right Azov Battalion and widely reported with zero confirmation.
I do not support what Russia is doing, but nobody in the media wants to hear a single bad word about the other side, or what Ukraine has been doing in The Donbass since 2014.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. That is true and some of the comments here show that most are drinking the kool-aid…..I have other posts that I will put forth soon. chuq
