“Free The Nipple”

Before I am accused of being a dirty old man, that this movement is more about equality than just flashing one’s breasts…I would be a liar if I said that it is not enjoyable for me…there is so much more to this than you would think……

There have been many women’s movements….like
“Ban The Bra”…..the push for acceptance of public breast feeding…..of course the Puritan wing of the GOP have always been afraid of women’s breast in one form or the other….

Before I go on and make it look like I am that dirty old man your mother warned you about……

“Free the nipple” has made headlines yet again, this time over Instagram’s public apology to director Pedro Almodovar for censoring the poster for his latest movie Madres Paralelas. The image, designed by artist Javier Jaen, features a lactating nipple cropped to appear as a crying eye, and it was widely removed on the platform for violating Instagram’s guidelines. The apology issued by Instagram resulted in Almodovar proclaiming victory over the algorithm, and an abundance of media attention including the New York Times’s article.

The body-equality slogan “Free the nipple” is so ubiquitous that it sounds as though it belongs in the annals of history alongside “Make love not war” and “Votes for women,” but actually this international rallying cry is barely a decade old. Born into the Instagram-age and made infamous through it, “Free the nipple” has regularly popped up on social media accounts, despite the fact that #FreeTheNipple itself is invisible on the platform: Type in “#FreeTheNipple” in the Instagram search bar and it will direct to a stark notice: “This Hashtag Is Hidden.” Alternatively, add a year to the slogan such as #freethenipple2021 and it works, effectively rendering the movement a yearly trend rather than the full-voiced campaign for change that it is.

Personally I do not understand the fixation of women’s breast…..I would be lying as a man if I said it did not matter….but let’s be real….I am a man and I am not dead yet….the concern should be for the 300+ mass shootings this year so far and less about what breasts are doing.

This is the story I read that got me to thinking about the movement…..and of course the trolls on social media that attack the young woman….

Who would have thought that a sheer hot pink dress worn by an award-winning actress on the red carpet of a fashion show could have the power to send the internet into such a tizzy?

But it was never really about the dress, was it? It was about what’s under the dress and, more specifically, what exists just under the surface of society. The sheer fabric of a Valentino dress not only revealed Florence Pugh’s breasts, but shone a spotlight on the thinly veiled misogyny that remains rampant 2022.

This past Friday, Midsommar star Florence Pugh walked the red carpet at Valentino’s haute couture show in Rome wearing a fuschia tulle gown designed by the brand’s artistic director, Pierpaolo Piccioli. A nod to the emerging Barbie-core trend, the ensemble was all pink and featured a gauzy halter bodice that exposed the actress’ breasts and oh-so controversial nipples.

“Technically they’re covered?” Pugh wrote on Instagram, a platform known for its censorship of the female form. Posting these beautiful images to her following of 7.6million, it wasn’t long until the trolls crawled out of the woodwork.

It is the 21st century in real time but still Victorian in some eyes…..I do not understand the taboo-ness of nudity these….I mean one click on the PC and anyone can see all they want and much more graphic than some woman’s nipples.

I am old but I would to think that I have matured with time….I try to keep my thinking moving forward….I refuse to let it go in reverse.

That was the name of a documentary that was showing the protest by the group known as Fremen challenging the ideas that Ukrainian women were escorts and hookers…..I wrote about these protesters many years ago….

  • The project, named “TerOnlyFans,” has already raised more than $700,000 since March.

Nastsassia Nasko says she came up with the idea by accident.

A few days after Russia invaded Ukraine in late February, she had posted on Twitter asking if someone with a car could help evacuate an acquaintance out of the Kharkiv, one of the first Ukrainian cities to be besieged by Russian troops.

When nobody responded to her, the 23-year-old tweeted, half-jokingly, that she would send a nude picture of herself to whoever was able to help.

The experience sparked an idea and several days later — on International Women’s Day — Nasko and her friend, Anastasiya Kuchmenko, launched “TerOnlyFans.” (“Ter” is short for territorial defense.)

The project has a similar model to OnlyFans, the subscription-based social platform which has become a lucrative way for adult content creators to earn money. (It has no connection to OnlyFans, and the company did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.)

But on TerOnlyFans, the money goes straight to the Ukrainian army, rather than to the creators. Three months on, the group has raised more than $700,000, Nasko told Insider.

The majority of the donations go to Ukraine’s Territorial Defense, although Nasko, said the project had also sent some money to refugee or animal-shelter organizations.

I applaud their attempt to help raise cash for their forces…..but does it not fly in the face of the message that Fremen tried to instill in the world?  Is this not some form a sexploitation of Ukrainian women/men?

History Of Skin

I have a cousin who rates a film by the amount of nudity it contains….of course he is a macho ape and only believes that women should be nude in the cinema….

Does anyone know the history of cinematic nudity?

Not to worry….there will be a documentary.

There have been documentaries on just about everything possible and now we can add the history of nudity in film.

Cleaning Up

Never now and then I will see, hear or read something that I feel I must share with my readers….and this one is a great one to share…….

I once was a co-owner of a small cleaning business…..it might of lasted longer if we had employed this type of business model….back in those days if a man lost his job he started a lawn service and women started a house cleaning service…..

Nikki Belton, 33, runs a cleaning company with her employees raking in up to £95-an-hour ($A185) by stripping off and polishing clients’ houses in lingerie or completely nude.

The successful businesswoman from the UK, transformed her £16.50-an-hour ($A30)

service when she realised a nude version would earn her more cash, The Sun reported.

The Naked Cleaning Company offers various domestic cleaning services from lingerie wearing, topless and fully naked cleaners from £75-per-hour ($A145) to up to £95-per-hour ($A185).

“I launched the Naked Cleaning Company as a branch off my main cleaning company because I noticed that there was nothing like it out there,” Ms Belton from Devon, England said.

Another Step To Equality

Women have been fighting for true equality for a very long time…..they we close in the 70s with the ERA and have been trying to achieve their dream ever since.

Some states have got a little closer tom the goal……

Two women sued the city of Fort Collins, Colo., for the right to go topless. Now, six states in total will reap the benefits of their ban-busting efforts after a federal appeals court overturned the city’s prohibition on women sans shirts and the city opted not to appeal. KUTV reports that not only Colorado’s women are now able to bare their breasts, but also those in Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, Kansas, and Oklahoma, after the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals struck down the ban in Fort Collins. Because Fort Collins has no plans to challenge the appellate court ruling, which would bring the case to the Supreme Court, the nixing of the ban applies to all six states the appeals court has jurisdiction over. NBC News notes the court ruling was handed down in February, while Fort Collins just decided this month to back off the case.

The suit was originally brought by plaintiffs Brit Hoagland and Samantha Six, who say their complaint was in the name of gender equality. The women had even started a #FreeTheNipple social media campaign to bolster their stance. Not everyone—not even all women—is 100% behind the court’s decision. “I do think we deserve equal rights in everything,” one female Boulder resident says. “But I think if women do choose to do that, they might be asking for a little bit of trouble.” Hoagland and Six disagree. “Everybody should be able to be comfortable on a hot day, and if that means taking their shirt [off], so be it,” Hoagland tells KGUN 9. “No matter how you look [at it], you should have the same freedom [as] the person next to you.”

As a man I will refrain from giving my thoughts….but I would love to hear from others on this new turn…..

I say just get to work and finally ratify the ERA…..period!

A Better Protest?

….this whole nomination thingy is just mind numbing…..I have seldom heard such out lies and misinformation in a long time….but that is all a moot point….today I want to talk about protests……

Okay truth is I am an aging hippie and had spent many hours in protests over the years and I watched closely the protest by the Occupy movement…..the marches, the tent cities, the live mic check (brilliant idea), and so on….and I have thought how it could be made more forceful….a way to make one’s point without violence or other such distasteful tactics……

And then out of the dark came a great answer!  As reported om the WaPo……

Three topless Ukrainian protesters were detained Saturday while trying to break into an invitation-only gathering of international CEOs and political leaders to call attention to the needs of the world’s poor. Separately, demonstrators from the Occupy movement marched to the edge of the gathering and engaged in a brief standoff with police.

The activists are from the Ukrainian group Femen, which has staged small, half-naked protests to highlight a range of issues including oppression of political opposition.

What’s the old say?  “A picture is worth a thousand words”!

Facebook used to block their pages and Ukraine’s secret service has threatened them with violence: With a mix of political protest and eye-catching eroticism, the women’s rights group Femen has inspired fear in Ukrainian authorities with its fight against prostitution and sex tourism.

Okay, I would lying to say that the idea of topless women protesting would not be enjoyable….but besides the obvious, a perfect way to draw attention to the cause….you can bet your butts that photographers were falling all over themselves to get the shots…….and with that the message gets out….and all without violence or breaking windows or spray painting graffiti everywhere….

I will bet that all red blooded men will remember what their cause was and we know why they will remember…..okay I am a pig!

See! There Is A God!

So many things and so little time…….for years I have bitched about the lack of nudity on TV and the hard censorship…..but now all that could be things of the past….why?  There is a God!

Fox News is reporting…….

The US Second Circuit Court of Appeals has vacated the $1.21 million worth of fines that the FCC levied against ABC after alleging that the network violated broadcast indecency standards for daring to show actress Charlotte Ross’ naked behind during a 2003 episode of “NYPD Blue.”

When overthrowing the fine, the court cited the FCC’s own declaration that “nudity itself is not per se indecent.” It also reiterated that the FCC’s context-based indecency test is “unconstitutionally vague,” as previously determined by the court when the FCC demanded fines from Fox when profanities were aired during the 2006 Billboard Music Awards.
I seriously doubt that this will give us what all the nay-sayers are warning about…..that is more nudity and such….doubt that this move will improve the quality or content of network TV….but it is a start…..and of course there will be those “sky is failing” folk that think that there will be bare boobs on news programs….but I think little will change….but on second thought….bare boobs on the news could make people more attentive to what is going on around them….if so…I say “show me your t*ts”……(a Mardi gras classic)………

How Not To Cool Off

In the South where I live this has been a bitch of a summer with heat indices up around 105 to 112…it really…really sucks!  But I had thought of getting naked as a way to cool off…but then I saw this story in the Associated Press:

LINCOLN, Neb. – Lincoln police arrested a man who they said made up a story about being robbed to explain why he was walking around a city park naked. Police spokeswoman Katie Flood said the man was arrested and jailed Wednesday night on suspicion of indecent exposure and making a false statement to police.

Police found the man naked in a southwest Lincoln city park on Monday. He told police a man with a gun tried to rob him, but he did not have any money, so the robber took his clothes.

Flood said the man really took off his clothes because he was hot. He walked around naked for about an hour, but afterward, he couldn’t find his clothes.

This is one of my favs…and this guy is in the running for moron of the week……

What To Do About This?

A 14-year-old New Jersey girl has been accused of child pornography after posting nearly 30 explicit nude pictures of herself on MySpace — charges that could force her to register as a sex offender if convicted.

The teen, whose name has not been released because of her age, was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography. She was released to her mother’s custody.

If convicted of the distribution charge, she would be forced to register with the state as a sex offender under Megan’s Law, said state Attorney General Anne Milgram. She also could face up to 17 years in jail, though such a stiff sentence is unlikely.

Okay sports fans, while I have a problem with child porn and think it is disgusting I have a problem with this story.  The child could have to register as a sex offender for having pics of herself…….thinking……why is that porn?  Could it possibly be that the girl likes her body?  Something not many teens her age can say.

I am sorry, but I do not see this is a crime…now if she was charging a price to view her pics then maybe, but I guess that since it was on Myspace it is considered public.  Was her space locked to all but friends?  There has to be more to this story than published….so far I do not see a crime that would justify a possiblity of 17 years in the slammer.  There is the possibility that she may need some sort of professional help….but she does not need to be locked up.
