Hello…I am Professor Dr. Chuq…..Politics….Political Theory….Political Philosophy…..Political History….Political economy…..Political Analyst….Political Sociologist…..Economist….International analyst……..and all round awesome dude (at least in my mind)..in case you were confused….my name is Chuq and NO it is NOT Arabic….though many believe I am some hidden jihadist…..the name comes from Chuqas….means Wolf…….I served two tours in SE Asia from 1967-1970……and thanx to the GI Bill I was educated first in the States and then in England……..
First of all, Info Ink has absolutely nothing to do with Tattoos, Tats, or whatever one wants to call the body art.
Info Ink was a company I started back in the Compuserve days to provide information to the world. Since the web took off the company was not as valuable as it had been. I decided to rename my blog in memory of my old company.
Since starting this blog I have given it a few new names and have settled on Opus Libertas……basically……but we never know…I may in some future time decide it needs a new title or an update……..and viola! The new title will be In Saner Thought…..the title of a small book of poetry I wrote in my youth…..
I am an old fart that has been doing the political thing for 40+ years. I have been a radical, convention delegate, lecturer, teacher, labor activist, political activist, researcher for a Spanish newspaper in the Middle East and a political writer. And I have yet to see this system work the way it is suppose to from the beginning.
From time to time I will be trying to help my readers understand some complicated things in politics, economics and history…..I feel the more we know the better we are as citizens and especially a voter…..
As a political philosopher I feel compelled to try and educate people on what they are experiencing in the world of politics and political thinking…there are many, many areas of study in the world of politics and most people only know of one…VOTING!
I have spent a lifetime doing what Thomas Paine told me to do, “It is the duty of every man, as far as his ability extends, to detect and expose delusion and error”.
There will be many different sectors within Info Ink….Inkwell Institute, a think tank, Professor’s Classroom, my bit for political education, Daily Agitator, stuff that just pisses me off and the VOMITORIUM, my attempt to dispel political regurgitation…….there will probably be others as time goes by…..
Then there is lobotero…..the name of my group in Vietnam….basically “Wolf Men”…….

After doing some additional checking, I discovered that almost all of the written content on that site had been “cut and pasted” verbatim from WordPress bloggers. Your post: “2009 Anal-Ocity” was one of them.

Surely you should just be flattered that anyone wants to quote (NOT plagiarise!) work from your two-bit publication.
The whole world in general and the US in particular is headed at break-neck speed to go down the tubes at any moment and you’re concerned about a probably inadvertently omitted link or a few more words used than you’d ideally like?
Get this, lady! NO ONE throughout the civilised world is likely to want to read your newspaper – except for proportion of US citizens and they make up a very small part of humanity. If your words travel across the world because of a man like the writer of this blog, whether he agrees with you or not, then just be thankful. You should be paying him for the publicity.
That’s MY opinion which, although worth little, has the same value as yours. 👿

I know you appreciate books on historical events, so I want to recommend “Killing Kennedy” by Bill O’Reilly. What a fantastic book. I finished reading it within a few hours. It’s that good.
I know you probably don’t care for Bill O’Reilly too much, but regardless of his personality, he’s a fantastic writer and the book is well-worth checking out.
As someone who doesn’t believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone, I was worried that “Killing Kennedy” would be yet more “official story” propaganda, but it wasn’t. It tells the story as if Oswald shot Kennedy, of course, but it points out some inconsistencies and oddities with the official story, and O’Reilly flat-out states that whether Oswald acted alone or was a patsy will probably never be known. He doesn’t try to refute any of the conspiracy theories floating around, not even the wild ones.
It’s mainly a dossier on Kennedy’s short presidency – and it’s fair. It describes how, at first, Kennedy was an indecisive leader, having come from a family with such a powerful patriarch. But then it describes how Kennedy grows into a strong, intelligent, pragmatic leader that truly cared about the country. And the book states that, after Kennedy was killed, the country took a turn for the worst. It’s a good book. Everyone from Democrats to Republicans will like it.

I like the greenish background better. I always find this much white a little jarring and it takes less time for my eyes to start glazing over. (Yeah, I AM a nitpicking pain in the ass.)
I chose this one because I am an old fart and most of my stuff is words….I do very little photos and such so those one is perfect for an old fart like me….
Oh, the layout is fine enough. Far too many are designed for 30 word stories, wrapped around pictures, videos and bullshit in side columns as large as the actual content itself. Most websites are just FAR too busy for my liking. I likes me a nice, gentle, relaxing, website format. I’m already more than worked up enough as it is, I don’t need any help.
But by “glazing over”, I didn’t mean “get bored”. I meant it more literally. My eyes get googly/tired after a while when there are sharp contrasts or overly bright screens. I should have been more clear.
It suits an old fart like you as well! LOL Honestly, with my cataracts, I prefer your stark white background and black lettering. It’s like reading a book! Whaaa… is that? Reading a book??? Yes, I’m an old fartess too! LOL

THanx…I am a writer and not a photo or a video guy or such….I wanted my blog to look like a book….
And it does very well. I appreciate it and for those that don’t, they are probably younger than we are and are used to electronics and we are more used to pages in a book. Even though I read online, I cannot read a book online. Don’t understand it, but I cannot do it, not on my mini iPad either. I need to BOOK. And now with all of my medical issues, I don’t have the attention span to read and REMEMBER what I’ve read. My dear sister-in-law gave me a book to read to start me on history and I have it in a zip up portfolio so I have paper and pen to take notes and to protect the paperback book and I have not even begun to read it as I know I will not get far. It is such a shame that my homeschooled grandchildren know more about history than I ever learned in public school and I cannot drive there to learn when they do their history now as I would LOVE to be one of her students. She is an excellent teacher, though she beats herself up all the time. Her children read at a very early age, they know more than their public school peers do on just about every subject, and she can gear the curriculum for each student as THEY learn which the public school teacher cannot do. So one may excel in one area but be behind in another, so she can adapt the work for him/her accordingly so the child can learn their way. Not all children learn the same way. That goes for adults as well, and I’m sure you know that too. I found out in college that I am very much a visual learner. It comes from having to learn at home from watching from a distance and not side by side. I am not dumb at all. I excelled in many areas, however, I struggled in arithmetic in grade school and had a teacher that turned off the love to learn it instead of encouraging me to ask questions and help me work to find the answers. So I felt stupid. When my children were in school, they were blessed to have a WONDERFUL math teacher, (who has visited my daughter’s home) and she taught them how to solve any math problem. This was excellent for her and she is passing it on to whichever child is willing to accept it. People poo poo homeschooling, and yet you hear such an outcry about how there is overcrowding in the public schools and a shortage of teachers, etc. The homeschooling families pay their taxes as well. But I digress… I was only comparing you to my daughter and how the two of you are able to teach very well. However, you have so much more experience teaching, and teaching adults, (which can be very similar to teaching children, no?). I appreciate you, Chuq. Thank you for your willingness to teach us! 🙂
I am the same…..I need to hold a book in my hands…….I have about 2500 books and I can safely say there is NOT a piece of fiction among them…..I do not do fiction…..
I don’t do fiction either. I have started selling them on Amazon. They all look like new, even those I have read as I don’t “break the binding” when I read it. Now if there is any highlighting or writing in it, I will keep it as it was obviously important to me; though there are precious few that I have done that too.
I hope to at least make a few dollars that I can give to my husband to help pay a bill once in a while.
Believe it or not, my first listing was a vintage set of “The Bible” in like new condition. I listed it on Valentine’s Day and there were MANY others on Amazon selling the same set for the same price and mine sold the same day!
I was totally stunned! And then freaked out because it has to be mailed by a certain time, and after it was in the mail on Tuesday, I realized that was the first day it COULD be mailed as it was sold on a Sat, then Sun, the Mon. was a Fed. holiday, so Tues was the FIRST day it could have been mailed! LOL
At any rate, I like BOOKS, I like to feel the pages as I turn them. If I like the book, and want to highlight something in it, I can. If I want to write a comment in the margin, I can! BOOKS are best!
I never loan a book…..because people are notorious for not returning them…….books are a valuble source of research for me and I have book cases all over my house….my war room is where I do my Middle East research and the “cave” is where I do most of my writing…..I spend 18 hours a day….writing, reading research or just thinking…..I write notes and save my notebooks…all of this is for my granddaughter…..she will have something of me when I crap out…..
I agree 100% with you. I never loan a book either. I would rather buy the book for the person than loan mine. My husband had beautiful book cases built in our family room on either side of the fireplace and they have the the lawyer glass shelved in the center. But this is now my room. It is no longer the beautiful room that it was. It has my lift chair and my hospital bed. The furniture is in the basement. There are clothes strewn about. It is embarrassing to be honest. But everything that I “need, own” is in here for now. My husband is going to be moving things now because he doesn’t like it. Especially after the squad had to get their cot in here. What a fiasco. My oxygen concentrator is here, my BiPaP, good grief, my breathing treatment machine… a walker, you get my point.
I am selling books on Amazon now that I have not read, and have no intention of reading. My daughter nor daughter-in-law have any interest nor will their daughters. So, I will sell them. There will be DVD’s as well I suppose. I don’t know. I spend that much time, Chuq, just on the computer! LOL Thanks so much for being my friend! I appreciate you very much!
I am fortunate, the one thing that I taught my daughter when she was growing up was the love of books and reading…..now my granddaughter is a book person too…I could not be more proud.
We have both done the same thing! I taught both my son and daughter the love of books and they are teaching their children the love of books. They go to the library, which is something that I never did when they were young. My daughter is so brave to march in there with 7 children, most of whom have their own library card, and they devour books. It makes me so proud; as it does you! 🙂
More parents should be so concerned. Well done.

That’s what makes you a great teacher. The professors in the universities and colleges now are brainwashing the young adults instead of teaching them to think for themselves. This is why I appreciate you so much, Chuq! Thank you for being so willing to teach us and so patient with us… I totally appreciate it!
College today is about the money…professors get grants and are given a conclusion and they build the rest around it….
True and when they employ people like Bill Ayers and his wife Dorn, and the likes of Ward Churchill, your young adults are in big trouble!
All professors are tools….only some are better than others…..it matters not the political persuasion…..Heritage is one of the worse offenders of the truth…..
If only they would simply teach what they are there to teach. Even my writing teacher was strongly political in a technical college and students were afraid to write against her ideology for fear of getting a poor grade. This is what’s wrong. Keep your political views OUT OF THE CLASSROOM and simply teach what you were hired to teach. I feel sorry for all the young adults that are subjected to these freaks they call professors. Bill Ayers and his wife Dorn should be doing hard time for killing and bombing but yet our tax dollars go to paying them to poison the minds of the young adults. Dorn teaches LAW at HARVARD! Ayers is retired… collecting a nice pension. Ward Churchill was fired for what he wrote about the victims of 9/11/2011. He still holds those views and I say, then move to a different country that you feel is comparable to your beliefs! Sheesh! And the common thread is that they are all the ones that would have been spitting on you when you returned from Vietnam, Chuq. This disgusts me. You fought for their ‘right’ to espouse their communist views, but not to poison the young adults paying to get an education – which no one gets anymore. Thank God we have you still! What would you say to Ward Churchill if you were able to debate him? Would you debate him?
My problem with that is we still have a 1st amendment and that anyone should be able to voice their opinion….we have to learn to understand that people have different opinions and see them as what they are….an opinion….not gospel.
I will debate just about anyone….I did so against the KKK prez David Duke until it degraded into a possible physical confrontation….
There are serious problems in this country and very few of them have anything to do with what you see in the news….

That 1st Amendment works for them OUTSIDE the classroom, Chuq. They are being PAID to TEACH a specific course. If it was a political science course, then it would be different. But in my own case, it was an intro to writing. It was a prereq for nursing. She had no business inserting her political views and the intimidating the students. I wasn’t intimidated as I spoke to her as she was spouting her propaganda. It pissed her off, however, I was willing to have it affect my grade. If it did, I would have taken it to the President of the Community College and I think she knew that since I was courageous enough to challenge her. Other students would come to me after class and say thank you because they were afraid. I said if you remain afraid, you will get no where in life. You need to have the courage of your convictions. She did. So should we. However, her political views had nothing to do with the curriculum at all. This is what I’m talking about. If you are in a mathematics class and the professor goes on and on about his or her political views, then s/he is not doing the job they are being PAID to do. This is when the students need to take their complaints to the head of the college/university in order to rein in the professor and have s/he teach what they are being PAID to teach. They can spout their 1st Amendment rights after their done with WORK. I hope you understand what I am talking about. A student can’t just stand up and spout off about their political or religious views in the middle of class… its their 1st Amendment right, no? So why is it ok for one and not the other? Its not right for either.

People cannot separate their personal beliefs….teachers are no different. This comes from not being able to try and see both sides of a question. We Americans think that we are the center of everything and that is what keeps us from moving forward.
You are so right. However, they expect their students to do it. So it can be done! We will never move forward because, like you said, Americans think we are the center of everything. I laugh at Christians that act like God is American and even GOP! LOL I give them a bit of schooling on that when the opportunity arises. What a perfect example of what you are saying!

I have been sick. Still sick but I think I’m feeling better! I figured out how to do a blog roll on my new blog, which is my ministry site just mirrored as a blog so when the money runs out, I still have my “site”. I already have followers! LOL I think that’s awesome since I’m not done moving everything but I tried to find the same theme you are using but ended up using something different. Will you share your theme?
I hope you get better soon…..the theme I use is called “penscratch”……it is one of wordpress own….

Do you have more than one blog? I am having problems separating the Gravatars and email addresses between my two blogs. Just wondering if you knew how to fix it…

Didn’t think it would hurt to ask! I know you are very tied up with this one. I guess I will just have to go back to how it was because the Gravatar site is giving me headaches because I signed up several times under my usual name and cannot remember the email address so its a bust. I worked ALL NIGHT trying to separate them… I give up! I guess it will just look weird! 🙂 But so do I, so I guess it makes sense! LOL
I use my gravatar for everything….my daughter designed it for me….she sez it is me….LOL
