I’m not sure he was the best candidate, but he did have the most money. So, yes, he was the best candidate
The best candidate money could buy?
20-20 hindsight tell me that Huntsman at this point in time would be giving Obama fits and would most likely be leading in the polls. But as that columnist failed to see who wrote that Romney “always got the job done” in the primaries — he “totally destroyed” Rick Perry, “beat down [Newt] Gingrich” in Florida, and “ran rings around” Rick Santorum, it was the divisiveness within the Party that allowed this to happen.
Had the Tea party forces not been so dominant and traditional Republicans carried the day, Huntsman would have been their nominee and they would most likely be sitting on easy street right about now. Not because Huntsman would necessarily be better than Obama for the next 4 years, but because the fringe element in the Party were just not willing to allow someone they viewed as a RINO represent them. Their bull headed attitude is likely what will lose it for the GOP this time around.
Larry, I agree that Huntsman would have been a much better candidate…..even Jeb Bush would have been a head above……the TP is crapping on everything democratic….the philosophy not the party….
