We Have Our Fall Guy

There has been lots of speculation flying around the web and the airwaves on just how Osama could have been in a large compound not an hour from the Pakistani capital and NO one knew he was there….as I said lots of speculation….and the world is waiting to see who will take the fall for this oversight…..wait NO longer….a fall guy has been found!

To allay both domestic and international anger and dismay over the presence of Osama bin Laden in a military cantonment town close to the capital, senior Pakistani officials have told The Daily Beast they recognize that an important head has to roll and soon. They say the most likely candidate to be the fall guy is Lt. Gen. Ahmad Shuja Pasha, the director general of the country’s spy agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence directorate. These high-level sources, who refused to be quoted or named, say that it’s nearly a done deal. Savvy Pakistani analysts who have close connections to the military agree. “It would make a lot of sense,” says retired Pakistani Lt. Gen. Talat Masood. “It’s in his (Pasha’s) personal and the national interest to take the heat off.”

Now the media has something or should I say someone they can fixate on the blame game….let us see how it plays out!

It Is Official! (About Time)

I NO longer have to start a post with….”Osama Bin Laden is STILL DEAD!

AQ has made it official…Thanx to the HufPo for the breaking news…..

The confirmation came in an Internet statement posted on militant websites, signed by “the general leadership” of al-Qaida. The announcement opens the way for the group to name a successor to bin Laden. His deputy Ayman al-Zawahri is now the most prominent figure in the group and is a very likely contender to take his place.

The statement, dated May 3, was the first by the terror network since bin Laden was killed Monday by U.S. commandos in a raid on his hideout in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The statement’s authenticity could not be independently confirmed, but it was posted on websites where the group traditionally puts out its messages.

“We stress that the blood of the holy warrior sheik, Osama bin Laden, God bless him, is precious to us and to all Muslims and will no go in vain,” the statement said. “We will remain, God willing, a curse chasing the Americans and their agents, following them outside and inside their countries.”

“Soon, God willing, their happiness will turn to sadness,” it said, “their blood will be mingled with their tears.”

Now the war for leadership will begin and I will be watching!

Cowards!

I know some of my readers get tired of my continuing bitching about the people we elect to govern us….I have accused them of more concern for their re-election than in the future of this country and its people…I do not feel that I had been unnecessarily hard on these people, but I have had some push back against my views (go figure)……but like most people I DO enjoy it when I am proven right….like others my ego needs a shot from time to time……

For weeks now we have heard about the Medicare proposals by the GOP in Paul Ryan’s budget….that the end game of his proposal was the elimination of the program that has benefited so many seniors over the years…..of course, the conserv noise machine had spent a bunch of time and resources trying to push back from the position…and even those GOPers who held town halls were catching total Hell from their constituents…..but they stood by their guns and tried to explain it to their people and unfortunately the narritive was NOT getting through…..so what will they do?

Will the GOP stand by what they believe is a solid answer to some of our debt problems?  Or will they do what I have expected them to do and drop the Medicare thing?

And then yesterday the call went out……this from Talking Points Memo….

A little dust-up happened tonight that likely tells us where the debate over Medicare Phase-Out is going.  Shortly after 9 PM this evening the Washington Post emailed a breaking news alert which read “Medicare dropped from GOP budget proposal.”   That kicked off a furious push back from the office of Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA).   And shortly after 10:30 PM the Post sent out a revised email with a new headline: “Republican leaders seeking compromise in deficit talks.”  In the body of the email there was an editorial note: “The headline on an earlier alert incorrectly described the GOP position in deficit talks.”

It’s not clear to me how much the article itself changed.  My sense is little or none at all.  And the initial headline probably was an aggressive read on just what Republicans are saying.   But my sense is they were likely much more right than wrong.

Come on people!  You know damn well that this is NOT about the budget……rather their fear of NOT being re-elected!  And yes I said cowards!  If this is truly about trying to find answers to our spending problem then to abandon it is COWARDLY!  But NOT unexpected!

Since I began writing this post 2 more GOPers have backed off of the Ryan Budget thingy….

Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) told TPM that while he would vote for the House budget if it comes to the Senate floor to “move the ball down the field,” his own preference on Medicare was a different proposal that would give seniors the option to remain in the traditional government plan.Senator Rob Portman (R-OH), one of the GOP’s most experienced budget hands, having previously served as OMB director under President Bush, told TPM that he and his colleagues — while not ruling out Ryan’s budget — are looking at several alternatives.

Let us be honest….we all knew these people would not stand by their golden boy once the fur began to fly with the seniors…..it is a dead issue…they know it and now YOU know it!

A Sad List Of Suspects

Yes Irene…..Osama Bin Laden is STILL DEAD!

This was originally going to be a post on the debate on FOX last night….but after watching for half an hour I could not take the silly, soft ball questions and the answers……the answers were the biggest pile of crap because they were not answers but some babble that could best be described as……BULLSHIT!

With that joke out of the way I decided to post on the leading GOP candidates as of 5 May 2011…….

YAWN!  That is the best description I can give of the leading candidates for the 2012 GOP hopefuls…..I ask my conservative friends to leave the talking points and bolster behind and tell me which one of the leading candidates for the nomination have the best chance of beating Obama next November…….(I will pause here and give you all the time you need to answer that question)……

OK, I lied!

Let us look at the leaders……Romney–an empty suit with all the charisma of a wet noodle…….Pawlenty–could not be more boring with all the excitement of a flock of mating flies……Gingrich……(heavy sigh)…way too much baggage will be beat to pieces with negative ads…….Palin (remember her?)–too greedy, wants cash not the White House…….and now we turn to the only laughable candidate–Trump–too egotistical with too many lies to be a serious candidate…..a lesser known candidate is Santorum–too insane and too unpredictable to be a stable candidate…..and let us not forget Rep. Bachmann–to quote another blogger (I am sorry but I forgot where I read this) Bat Shit Crazy!

Who will it be?

The media is in love with Chris Christie and he has said he will NOT run this next election…then some have mentioned Mitch Daniels–too unknown but there is time to change that…..and finally how about Rep. Paul Ryan?  We all know him….he does have some charisma and has controversial stands, something some people like in a candidate…….

Who will it be?

No statesman-in-waiting….lots of clowns and limp noodle candidates….nothing that would generate excitement or even hatred by the other side…..this is the type of candidates that could keep people at home on election day….making the whole exercise lackluster at best.

Somewhere there needs to be a candidate pulled out of someone’s butt and soon!

And out of the anus crawls Huntsman and possibly Daniels……..(BTW Huntsman still has a grudge to settle with Romney and he may well be doing this just to be a pain in Mitt’s butt)
